@jem3911 you can download the live recording of that night in Sheffield, it was broadcasted across Great Britain on Q radio. I was there as well and its great to have it to listen to again. just search U2 sheffield Q radio broadcast.
It sure is. I wish these artists would record and perform material within their vocal ranges as they get older. U2 goes a little overboard with backing tracks although not as bad as Coldplay. Regarding smoking, Bono has said that he likes what smoking did for his voice.
Yeah, and Bono's an idiot for saying that. It's a justification for a bad choice: I'm sure he'd give anything to have his 'Zoo T.V.' era voice back (not that age wouldn't have taken its toll, but a better lifestyle may have helped, too).
Compare Bono to Morrissey: Morrissey never had Bono's range, but he still has his voice after the same amount of years singing (and they're roughly the same age).
hi stanleyboy09 I would say it makes my brother special but not me he has also remixed magnificent and vertigo the band love his work he also did fatboy slim 'right here right now' and worked with snow patrol and others he is also a well known D.J.
4:55 can`t belileve .. this is fake (play back) Bono is with the hand extended, with the microphone, and the voice is the same in the other hand when Larry walked, the sound of the drum was perfect but thats imposible walking.
The Edge was singing the part you think Bono is. Edge's voice is quite good (and similar!) and actually sings the hardest vocals of Where the Streets Have No Name. (the higher note backup vocals)
You're right. There are some backing track instruments/mixes that the band does play to do some songs, (Light City of Blinding Lights) and some of the dance drum beats for this song. It bothers some. For me, it depends.
I dig the remix, too! Funny, because when I heard the original version, it just sounds like a 'safe' commercial song. I'm not into dance music, but I love the groove on this!
This was absolutely fantastic on Saturday! I was secretly hoping it was Discotheque when it first started, but after they busted into I'll Go Crazy, I went nuts.
I saw this in Chicago last night, definitely my favorite part of the concert. Right up there with Ultraviolet. There was so much energy in the stadium during this song!!!
Yeaahhh I had the same feeling.I didn't like much the original one but when I started to hear this version in the concert I was amazed.I remember I said "what's this? cool!!!".I like very much the rythm.Everybody danced like if they were used to hear it and only U2 can get that spontaneous reaction from spectators.I love'em
Saw them at Wembley doing this remix and it was outstanding. I thought I'd be gutted they weren't performing the album version, but it was amazing and took our breath away, we sang ourselves hoarse!
They´re genius, if you really are a u2´s fan, you must appreciate this work. Even when a recording never sounds like a live presentation. You must be there to talk about it.

their is always a part of any concert that hits home ,makes me wonder if , oasis ,coldplay ,snow patrol , etc did this then they may be up their one day
i think you have to at least say they still had it in the early 90s for the Zoo tour - now - this footage makes me glad i didn't go out of my way to get tix for this tour...the first time i saw them they were awesome...but every time since then...they get a little worse...it's sad...

It was amazing. Bono, The Edge, Larry and Adam were great. They played at their best. People in the Amsterdam Arena went crazy and were really enthusiastic about U2. The band gave us a magnificent show!
This is what I love about U2. They have the guts to step out of the ordinary. They're not afraid of what people might think of whatever style they come up with. U2 is great.
The only synced part is the one at 6:15, you can hear it because it sounds very electronic. But dare to say that anything else it synced because it's not!

Definitely some vocal assistance on this tour. Can't blame him - 30 years of performing (and stupidly taking up smoking!) is bound to take its toll.

I was replying to some smartass who didn't like the song. I personally think this version kicks ass. Like it a lot better than the studio cut.
