Dawkins is on a crusade to rid the world of religion, George Bernard Shaw one of these types a darling even today of the liberal progressives ,this is what Mr. Shaw said "their should be some kinda humane gas that we could use to rid the world of people who are not usefull"this is what makes these people so damned dangerous, they profess themselves to be so damned wise they think they are gods,Shaw has been dead for years bu the liberal left still love him

There is an irony here in an atheist objecting to the sacrifice of human life, when it is a atheistic/humanist/liberal tenant to excuse the continual human sacrifice of abortion.
The sacrifice of Isaac is a literal scripture and is about sacrificing the thing you desire and hold most dear on the material level for what is ultimately the only real and important thing, God and the kingdom of heaven. Of course this notion is abhorrent to one who blindly clings to materialism and has no faith in God
No, we didn't get here by "luck". But man is going to need a lot of luck to last another 300 years on this planet. How ironic. They're going to turn Iran into Chernobyl soon. The yearly Saharan winds will deliver the radiation to your children, who will die of cancer. Humanity will not be here in 300 years. We are at that point in history. Yes. The point of no return. The point where our technology is more advanced than us. You trust monkeys with nukes? LOL. Bye bye. Pray.
how would you know shit you dick head! we are only getting more advanced, how do you know that we're not going to colonise on other planets that have the right climate and resources and atmosphere for humans? fucking idiot! we always work out our problems and it will only be easier if we drop these stoneage religions. and who gives a fuck about iran thats there problem im all teh way in a nice western country. they can keep their muslim bullshit to themselves.
It was this comment of yours in particular that really made me see how blind you are, and that proved we are simply not on the same level. Communication between us is not possible. You will be ignored indefinately from this point on.
richard dawkins is an idiot for constantly stating that there isint god becuase as well as the primitive followers he doesent have any evidence. thats why we should all hold back from the idea of religion and just continueing with our sciences until we know the real answer. the bible has been proved that many timest hat it would just be incredibly stupid to follow. science is the only thing that has ever given us true proper logical explanations.
Dawkins has never said there isn't a god. He says that the evidence for a supernatural entity suggests that it is very very unlikely. And why would you believe in something very very unlikely even though by some small possible chance it might be true?
you fucking idiot if the romans continued we would be many years ahead of what we are now! the romans were only getting advanced in everyway! dont you remember the middle ages? where every former roman territory collapsed into rotting poverty! what happened there? that was all becuase of christianity! it wasnt until humans realised that christianity was only holding them back did they start to go by science again(renaissance).religion is pointless.. unless you need an imaginary friend.
To not believe in God to me is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. God is the only thing that explains our existence. If there were no God, there would be no life on earth for the simple fact that our universe is an incredibly harsh environment. Don't believe me, good luck living on Mars. Good luck with that, you're going to need it. You think "luck" is why we're here? That is absurd. Absolutely ridiculous. Impossible. Unrealistic.
what makes you think you know why we are here? nobody knows shit! if there was a god then what created god?then what created it? it just keeps going and going! nobody knows how it all started, its just questions that dont need to have assumed practised answers!
God always was, always is, and always will be. That is easy to believe, because it is the only valid explanation for how we got here. It will continue to be a valid answer until the end of time, because the end of time is now. I give humanity 300 years tops, and it's over. It's not optimistic, but it sure is realistic. Don't believe me? I DARE you to drink water from your local pond. I DARE YOU. Good luck with that. You're going to need it.
of course i wouldnt drink water from the local pond you idiot i dont think anyone in there country would(unless they lived in some untouched scandanavian country or somthing). and how did god start? fucking idiot thats not valid your just a retard. go pick up a science text book and learn somthing that is true
Your argument is absurd! We are expected to believe in something supernatural but there is no evidence to suggest anything supernatural has ever occurred!! Why doesn't prayer work when people pray for the sick? If there was a god wouldn't prayer prove to be worth the effort? How does something as complex as god come into being? Surely logic would tell us a beginning starts simple and becomes complex not the other way round!!! Think about it!!!
All that is natural is evidence of the supernatural.
Why would God listen to your prayers regarding this life? Does God see your suffering the way you do? When Jesus came to earth were we nice to Him? Why should He answer our prayers at all? Do you mourn every ant you step on? How important is that ant's suffering to you? That sure is a lucky ant if you cared enough for it to make a colony and answer all the ants' prayers!

They didn't have Christ, and look what became of them! Do you want to be a FOSSIL???? Is that what you want???? To be fossilized???
Great scientist. Fierce, at times heroic opponent of religious oppression. But a dreadful philosopher, almost to the point of never rising above the seriousness of a court jester. I will always consider him somewhat of a little boy in this regard.
He's not talking about philosophy. He's talking about science. Whenever the two are not the same, philosophy either fails or deteriorates into self-help books.
noo....i meant what i typed. thousands of russians died FOR stalin. i think you should go do some research on communist russia during WWII and the Cold War soon after. whether they be spies or soldiers, they died to "honor" stalin and what he "stood" for.
Thanks for clearing that up. So what you're saying is that thousands of people were brainwashed by Stalin. I can believe that. So what that says to me is that since thousands of people died for Stalin, then Stalin must have existed. Thanks. So, since millions of people have died to spread Christ's story, then Christ must have existed. I'm glad we've established that. Now we're getting somewhere.
No that's not the only reason why I believe Christ existed. Yeah I remember what you said. It's supposed to be "the past knows NOT, nor cares about the present". Get it right.
uh huh, criticise my grammatical mistake because you cant criticise my reasoning...nice way out of a tight spot there.
that may not be the only reason why you believe in jesus, but YOU are (were) acting like it is (was). but that cannot BE a good reason, for you would have to pay respect to mithra as well as any number of other "gods" out there., along with thousands of kings and leaders.
so really...why believe jesus existed? 'because, because, because'?
phillippedechampaigne christ may have existed but to belive in the supernatural things that are claimed about him in the bible is a bit 900AD dont you think? and it wasnt thousands that were brainwashed by stalin but tens of millions. he sent 40 million of his own people to their deaths.
No I don't think that believing Jesus was the Son Of God is out of the question in 2008. Just the opposite in fact. It was Christ that destroyed the Roman empire. Where does the year 2008 come from? Gee. Christ is responsible for every good thing in the world today. I submit, that if it were not for Christ, humanity would not even exist today. The Romans would have enslaved all mankind, would have created nukes 1000 years earlier, and this would be a radioactive wasteland already.
Now you're going to say that it's up to me to prove God exists. Well, thousands of people have given their lives to tell me that Jesus lived and was the Son Of God. I wasn't there 2000 years ago, so since they lost their lives to tell me this simple message, I will be forced to believe them until you can build that time machine. People don't die for fairytales. Get that time machine up and running. In the meantime carry on with your delusions.
There's a big difference between thousands dying IN GOD'S NAME and thousands dying just to hand down a scroll with the message "Hey! God said this and this. By the way.. John was here.. hehe.". Moreover, you don't need time-travel when you have logic.
I agree we don't need time travel. All that matters is right here right now. You would need it, however, to know what happened in the past. Your logic is unreliable.
How can someone prove that God doesn't exist when no one has proved that he does exist? If no one has proved that there is a God then there must not be a God, at least outside of the realm of fiction. You may as well ask someone to disprove the existence of Mickey Mouse. Whether or not someone has died for something doesn't mean that what they believe in is real. Greyghostvol1 points this out very well with a reference to Stalin. From memory, Hitler had a very large army too.
You can not rule out God unless you can prove how we got here. You can not prove how we got here without building a time machine. You can not build a time machine, therefore you can not rule out God. If you build DNA from scratch in a lab, you've only proven how the DNA in the lab got in the lab. No amount of speculation or assumation can erase time. You need to focus your efforts on time travel. Focusing on abiogenesis does nothing for either side of the God debate.

To say that a God created the universe is to explain PRECISELY NOTHING!, because you leave yourself with an infinite regress of Gods all designing each other.
God = π simply means : God = God's god = God's god's god = God's god's god's god etc - this is how stupid your formula is.
invoking a god to explain something is pointless unless you can explain the mechanism of the god's intelligence.
As π is a transcendental real number so the Creator or the the universe is transcendetal and real. Calculating Pi as 3.14159 is more accurate that calculatin Pi as 3.14. So all faiths (except atheism)
have a measure of truth. Finding that truth is a lifetime effort.
"Faith' guarantees a life wasted in blind ignorance. The only chance of finding truth is to abandon faith and pursue reason and science with a searing, all consuming dedication that dwarfs the timid efforts of faith.
"Debate between Ricard Dawkins and Francis Collins,
DAWKINS: To me, the right approach is to say we are profoundly ignorant of these matters. We need to work on them. But to suddenly say the answer is God--it's that that seems to me to close off the discussion.
TIME: Could the answer be God?
DAWKINS: There could be something incredibly grand and incomprehensible and beyond our present understanding.
haha, i read this debate, you can't just cut and paste it to make it look like Dawkins was stumped. Dawkins clearly said he was fine with admitting there're things science can't explain yet, that human senses and consciousness could not yet penetrate, supernatural perhaps; those are FAIR and Rational things to say, but if u suddenly skip all the steps and jump to GOD to explain them, then that's NOT Fair or Rational.
This dishonestly truncated quote is intended to distort what Dawkins actually said. The conversation is here:
DAWKINS: To me, the right approach is to say we are profoundly ignorant of these matters. We need to work on them. But to suddenly say the answer is God--it's that that seems to me to close off the discussion.
TIME: Could the answer be God?
DAWKINS: There could be something incredibly grand and incomprehensible and beyond our present understanding.
DAWKINS: Yes. But it could be any of a billion Gods. It could be God of the Martians or of the inhabitants of Alpha Centauri. The chance of its being a particular God, Yahweh, the God of Jesus, is vanishingly small--at the least, the onus is on you to demonstrate why you think that's the case.
Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs with justice.Surely he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered forever. He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. His heart is secure, he will have no fear; in the end he will look in triumph on his foes.
Praise the LORD. [b] Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands. His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man. [c]
Let's suppose Dawkins has his way and everybody stops practicing Christianity. What good is that going to do, there are still four other major religions out there. You think Dawkins is going to tell THEM there is no God? Of course not, his book won't sell in Istanbul. Start picking your burquas and prayer rugs if this guy succeeds.
Sorry for him Sorry for you.Find God, where is he nobody seen him lately as science progesses and he stands still.Come on god show us the way as you did in the past and stop this blastfamy of science.A light hearted comment, please do not take offence
anyone even remotely curious in a non religious thinking, read this book, its intelligent, balanced, (not arrogant in any way) and does not preach that religion is wrong simply because he thinks so.clever discussion.
RICHARD IT'S RIGHT. ENFORCES RELIGION TO CHILDS, WHO HAVE NO DEVELOPED MIND YET TO CHOOSE THEMSELVES, IT'S A CHILDS'S ABUSE. i'M GLAD TO SEE SOMEONE WHO AGREE WITH i SAY LONG AGO. RELIGION TEACHING IT'S A RAPE OF MIND!
Millions have changed their religion because of a book? Try looking at history now. Millions have changed because they didn't have a choice, through violence, threats and because they were brought up believing what their parents believed. Constantine started it all when he ordered Christianity as the official religion of the roman empire and ordered the killing of the pagan religions..and it went from there.
I hope to see his book in arabic soon. Unfortunately, i doubt anyone would change their faith by a book unless they had an urge feeling to change before hand. As Richard described, my atheist friends and I, from Saudi Arabia, would rather be nice and keep our deep convictions to our private meetings than hurt our families or face the masses.
I feel for you, keep the 'lack of' faith! Don't be stupid just because you know something, keep your life safe so that you can continue to spread the knowledge to those who are ready.
SimUser, do you not have a sense of humor at all? That was clearly not a serious comment, you tight ass. And please, don't call me Christian... I've killed for less. Moron.
My post was directed at sithius, but whatever. Me thinks someone's out calling the kettle black. Save your vaguely worded Death threats for someone else.
LMFAO!!! wheew but anyways this is a good video whoever you are rationalresponce good job. Some day there will be no belief on the level we believe things will change as our understanding does. but I doubt we will ever disprove a higher power. it is based on philosophy and birthed from the mind of man. with infinity the questions will always raise more questions.
A magician can perform a trick and call it magic it only loses its magic after explanation. The mysterys of the higher power can be explained it wont mean there isnt one same with the magician. Science has an infinite task ahead of them. what some call Miracle I call unknown. The magic is an illusion. All are based on perseption.

I will always consider him somewhat of a little boy in this regard.
greatsea 4 years ago
He's not talking about philosophy. He's talking about science. Whenever the two are not the same, philosophy either fails or deteriorates into self-help books.

well thousands of people died in the name of stalin...are you going to start worshipping stalin?
Greyghostvol1 4 years ago
I think you've got that a little mixed up. MILLIONS of people died BECAUSE of Stalin. That's more like it.
PhilippeDeChampaigne 4 years ago
noo....i meant what i typed. thousands of russians died FOR stalin. i think you should go do some research on communist russia during WWII and the Cold War soon after. whether they be spies or soldiers, they died to "honor" stalin and what he "stood" for.
you know? my history professor once said,
"the past knows, nor cares about the present"
(though im sure he stole it from somewhere)
Greyghostvol1 4 years ago
Thanks for clearing that up. So what you're saying is that thousands of people were brainwashed by Stalin. I can believe that. So what that says to me is that since thousands of people died for Stalin, then Stalin must have existed. Thanks. So, since millions of people have died to spread Christ's story, then Christ must have existed. I'm glad we've established that. Now we're getting somewhere.
PhilippeDeChampaigne 4 years ago
lmao...
so the only reason why you believe christ existed was because millions died believing he existed (im basing this on the logic you have given me)?
millions have died in zeus', athena's, mithra's, Baal's name...why dont you go and base your logic on them?
remember what i said,
the past knows, nor cares about the present.
Greyghostvol1 4 years ago 3
No that's not the only reason why I believe Christ existed. Yeah I remember what you said. It's supposed to be "the past knows NOT, nor cares about the present". Get it right.
PhilippeDeChampaigne 4 years ago
uh huh, criticise my grammatical mistake because you cant criticise my reasoning...nice way out of a tight spot there.
that may not be the only reason why you believe in jesus, but YOU are (were) acting like it is (was). but that cannot BE a good reason, for you would have to pay respect to mithra as well as any number of other "gods" out there., along with thousands of kings and leaders.
so really...why believe jesus existed? 'because, because, because'?
Greyghostvol1 4 years ago 2
Because because because because BEEECAAAAAAAAUUUUUUSSSSE.......of all the wonderful things he does.
That's why I believe Jesus exists.
PhilippeDeChampaigne 4 years ago
phillippedechampaigne christ may have existed but to belive in the supernatural things that are claimed about him in the bible is a bit 900AD dont you think? and it wasnt thousands that were brainwashed by stalin but tens of millions. he sent 40 million of his own people to their deaths.
hamisharn 3 years ago
No I don't think that believing Jesus was the Son Of God is out of the question in 2008. Just the opposite in fact. It was Christ that destroyed the Roman empire. Where does the year 2008 come from? Gee. Christ is responsible for every good thing in the world today. I submit, that if it were not for Christ, humanity would not even exist today. The Romans would have enslaved all mankind, would have created nukes 1000 years earlier, and this would be a radioactive wasteland already.
PhilippeDeChampaigne 3 years ago
The Romans would have conquered the world, then nuked themselves? Yes, that makes sense...
thekure42 3 years ago
Now you're going to say that it's up to me to prove God exists. Well, thousands of people have given their lives to tell me that Jesus lived and was the Son Of God. I wasn't there 2000 years ago, so since they lost their lives to tell me this simple message, I will be forced to believe them until you can build that time machine. People don't die for fairytales. Get that time machine up and running. In the meantime carry on with your delusions.
PhilippeDeChampaigne 4 years ago
There's a big difference between thousands dying IN GOD'S NAME and thousands dying just to hand down a scroll with the message "Hey! God said this and this. By the way.. John was here.. hehe.". Moreover, you don't need time-travel when you have logic.
pavlorestis 4 years ago
I agree we don't need time travel. All that matters is right here right now. You would need it, however, to know what happened in the past. Your logic is unreliable.
PhilippeDeChampaigne 4 years ago
How can someone prove that God doesn't exist when no one has proved that he does exist? If no one has proved that there is a God then there must not be a God, at least outside of the realm of fiction. You may as well ask someone to disprove the existence of Mickey Mouse. Whether or not someone has died for something doesn't mean that what they believe in is real. Greyghostvol1 points this out very well with a reference to Stalin. From memory, Hitler had a very large army too.
radishio69 4 years ago
You knew every human being that ever lived on planet earth??? It stops there.
PhilippeDeChampaigne 4 years ago
You can not rule out God unless you can prove how we got here. You can not prove how we got here without building a time machine. You can not build a time machine, therefore you can not rule out God. If you build DNA from scratch in a lab, you've only proven how the DNA in the lab got in the lab. No amount of speculation or assumation can erase time. You need to focus your efforts on time travel. Focusing on abiogenesis does nothing for either side of the God debate.

To say that a God created the universe is to explain PRECISELY NOTHING!, because you leave yourself with an infinite regress of Gods all designing each other.
God = π simply means : God = God's god = God's god's god = God's god's god's god etc - this is how stupid your formula is.
invoking a god to explain something is pointless unless you can explain the mechanism of the god's intelligence.
Rich54921 4 years ago

COLLINS: That's God.
DAWKINS: Yes. But it could be.."

Dawkins was not stumped by this line of argument. Please read the rest of that interview.
bryantulsa 4 years ago
haha, i read this debate, you can't just cut and paste it to make it look like Dawkins was stumped.

COLLINS: That's God.
DAWKINS: Yes. But it could be any of a billion Gods. It could be God of the Martians or of the inhabitants of Alpha Centauri. The chance of its being a particular God, Yahweh, the God of Jesus, is vanishingly small--at the least, the onus is on you to demonstrate why you think that's the case.
