  • i love the sound of the sound of those crickets and frogs....makes me miss summer

  • Anyone know how to disassemble the bezel for the L1d? When in normal high mode, there is noticeable flickering in the beam. Perhaps it was when I dropped it and hit bezel first on concrete.

  • well that sounds like the battery was empty ;-)

  • great review as allways but i think i will go with the L1D i like the design and the holster also i like my flashlight to click

  • is the L1D a Q5? and when you did the comparisons, was the L1D on Turbo mode?

  • please answer this question.

  • You could've answered your question on your own:

1.This is the L1D-CE, you can find that in the title -.-.

    2. Shure the L1D was on Turbo, why wouldn't it be? And if it wasn't, the difference would be just 10 lumens.

    3. You seem like you would really like the Fenix to win. Why, the Nitecore is a better light.

  • @trailer701

Notice he says the L1D on "HIGH", not turbo mode (120 lumens). High for the L1D is 107 lumens. So if it is on high, like he says... you are comparing the Fenix and the Nitecore with a 23 lumen difference. And YES that will make a difference, not just 10 lumen difference like you are saying. Learn your facts first before you ramble about a topic you do not know anything about. The Nitecore D10 is better than the L1D, yes I agree.

  • @trailer701

The L1D on high is 107 lumens. Nowhere in the video does he say that the Fenix was on Turbo (120 lumens). He is comparing the 2 lights with the Fenix having a 23 lumen disadvantage, instead of your uneducated 10 lumen difference presumption. The Nitecore could also be using an R2, which he did not specify, which is stronger than a Q5. Nowhere in my response above does it say that the Fenix is better than the Nitecore. Stop jumping to conclusions.

  • Yeah, I think I am going to go with the nitecore. It seems to be a little better of a design!

  • I was about to buy the Fenix L1D this paycheck but you sold me on the Nitecore D10! I love the on off switch and the variable strength setting instead of having to click through them! Thanks for the videos!

  • wow, id love to get a pair of nightvision goggles or heat seeking...

    listen to all those animals!

i wish i lived in america

  • I have a new question for you: my order for the Nitecore D10 somehow timed out and now I just stopped and thought before I ordered it again: Do you have any idea what the "Golden Dragon Plus" LED which comes with several Nitecore models is and what it does.. it looks cool but I don't want it if it's going to make the light yellow like a standard torch.

  • same light, same features, the only difference is the newer golden dragon plus is a slighty brighter LED, so yes for the same price go for that if possible...

  • be warned that the nitecore has rings and halos that you may not like

  • I have it now and there are no rings or halos.. completely clean light.

  • Thanks for yet a great review. I must admit your reviews are so good, clear, thorough and objective that they tend to end up being the decisive factor when I have to buy some new gear! Your voice is also really pleasent to listen to.

I have decided to go for the D10!

  • Thanks! I know you will like the D10...try 4sevens dot (com) also look on candlepowerforums for discoutn codes, I think its curently CPF09 for 10% off but I could be wrong...

  • Thanks for the quick reply, you are very helpful! :)

  • cutlery lover, how would you rate the D10 vs. the L1D Premium Q5 version? The Q5 isn't alot more pricey but is brighter and has a farther throw as far as im concerned.

  • They come close as far as stats and specifics in lumens and so forth, the D10 has the edge with its piston drive though and more variety in modes, but not everyone is intereted or will use different modes so its up to the user...but if I know Fenix, they will coem out with nicer lights as tiem goes on and maybe adopt the same ideas...who knows...

  • hey thanks for the your quick reply. i think i've found myself to be someone that really likes simplicity. But even so, i enjoyed your review. thanks

  • What mag light upgrade is that? How expensive are they? while I will be getting on of those nitecores i wouldnt mind upgrading the mini mag i have...if it isnt an arm and a leg

  • I got mine when they 1st came oyut for like $10, but now walmart carries them by their flashlight, its called a nite-ize (thats the brand) upgrade, now like $7...

  • Thanks! I had seen those at walmart and read some mixed reviews. I know it isnt that much money, but if it wasnt any good, i didnt want to waste it

  • well its a compromise, the original setup will give you a dull yellow beam thats small with alot of imperfectionas, but you get alot of throw, meanigj distance, the upgrade gived you a bigger wider smoother white beam but you lose all the distance, so if you use a light for up close use its better...

  • can you please do a review on the polarion hid??

  • Although I want one I dont own one...Sorry...

  • at the price they want i cant see anyone owning one.......renting, maybe

  • i have had a D10 for a few days..... it is well worth the $

  • Actually alot of people owe a polarion light. For the real collectors this flashlights is a must when they can afford it.

  • HAHA You always start your videos with "HI GUYS.....Ahmmm..." , actually you say "Ahmmm" alot, but hey it's okay love your vid's anyway... :-)

  • lol, its funny when people notice stuff liek that, it tedns to bother them when they are looking iot it in future videos, like the clock, lol...Well Im not perfect...I have my corks like anyone else, but I do try to correct mistakes and other thgins when I am consious I am doign them...

  • Hey it's cool, man, it gives a nice personal touch to your vid's... It doesn't bother me though, i actually think it's very soothing =)

  • lol ok, thanks...

  • wow...for years i relied on the mini mag for my lighting when in dark attics and at night.i really have to find the nite core lite, looks like its the ticket.thanks for the review!

  • There are 2 versions of the Nitecore D10. One uses a Cree LED, the newer version uses a Osram GDP LED.

Does your Flashlight have a Cree or a Osram LED? (Any change of a comparison between the two ??!!)

  • I got this light right before the osram version came out, So mine is the cree, if I get the newer verison I will defimatly get new nightime beamshots...

  • thanx for that,in 2 minds now lol,awesome lites tho,5*

  • Great Video!! (and no annoying clock!)

I was thinking about buying a Fenix L1d but now i'm switching to the Nitecore.

    Thanks a buch!

  • Five Stars!!

  • so this is why your not in bed LOL.

Holy crap is the nitecore AWESOME! Not something I could use at the theater. But oh well.

Yeah I think Ken will really like the Nitecore a lot. Maybe as a Christmas present...

  • Thanks, yeah up late almost 2 am now, trying to get vids up, takes forever! Yeah anyone interested in any flashlgihts can appreciate this one for sure! Alot of power and options for a single AA light in a small package...check out 4sevens (dot [com]) for this light, price is $60...you can use the code CPF08 for a discount...

  • You COULD use the Nitecore at the theatre, just use the lower settings...Now go forth and buy one.

  • True...however it is best if the light is blue. That doesn't make it a bad light or something that I wouldn't get at some point.

  • Ah! I didn't know that. I wonder if there are any filters out there that would fit. Might be worth a search.

  • hye, lol...

  • lol...Im a big bigfoot fan, haha too bad that one they foudn in georgia not too long ago turned out to be a costume filled with roadkill...

  • I am really impressed with the Nitecore.I thought the Nitecore and Fenix would be close but the Nitecore seems to be much brighter.Great video very informative.5 stars:)

  • stinks the vid doesnt pick up the same as the eye, it really is alot brighter in person...

  • It looks like cutlerylover has a L1D-CE which is using a Cree P4 (IIRC). The Nitecore D10 uses a Cree Q5. There is a L1D version which uses a Q5 -- which would probably put it more in line with the D10 in terms of max brightness

  • I have an old L1D-CE and a newer L1D-CE Q5. The Q5 is much brighter then the older L1D-CE.

The older version is cheaper than a D10, and the newer about the same price... Perhaps cutlerylover can update his post, or the review is a bit dishonest.

  • I commented to fast, sorry lol

  • lol thats ok...I udnerstand...

  • really nice i got first view first post first i looked im like i cane see anything!lol
