I was following instructions from your video, but I had a question. Do you have to have an audio interface like Audio Kontrol 1 for the maschine to sample from the internet or can you just connect directly through USB to a laptop or desktop and get the same results. I have Protools Mbox mini.
Quick question, but let's say i wanna record these samples making a live beat with them & then i want to send it to somebody else to hear them.. don't they have to have soundflower on their computer turned on in order to hear it? cause i can't hear my own samples without soundflower being on..
this video is awesome man. but i have a question. at the very first of this video you change your device to SoundFlower [16 ch]. when i do that my only option is the [2 ch]. did i do something wrong. I've made sure to do everything you did.
i like how you re-sampeled for each pad instead of slicing, i find it only oneshots the individual samples when i slice it onto the pads, so i will do this from now on to get them into an envelope. thanks!

@BradenTaylorMusic you dont need audio kontrol, you can sample any sound normally played thru your computer via sound cloud it takes every sound and routes it to one main virtual output which can then be picked up by maschine and can be sampled there for you can sample any audio that you computer can play.

@ mcsg27 you're right about the timestretch feature.Because I have to run Maschine through Ableton to get it how I want it to go.The great thing about Ableton it's very reliable to record with.
when I sample a synth note fx and spread it out over several octaves the higher note I play the faster the sample plays, which makes it unuseable. How do I make it stop doing that so it just changse the pitch of the sample and not the speed? Any help is greatly appreciated!

@baserocks1 This took me forever to figure out but below the group, in the orange "sound" setting, under the "sampler" tab you will see "voice settings". Just to the left of that there is a little dropdown arrow, click that for other voice options. The second one in the list has an ADSR envelope (pitch/gate/amplitude envelope). You can select the type of envelope under "type": one shot, adsr, etc.

@SOLEATTIC get a USB interface - NI makes the Komplete Audio 6 which is fantastic. you come out of the ipod with 3.5mm jack into a stereo 1/4" input pair that goes into the interface. Record sample into Maschine. Run to Guitar Center or something to get the cable and ask them specifically and they will show you.
@kushandOJallday yes. just the same, but you are much more limited to chopping the samples with only one screen and one knob. I suggest using the mouse more if you own Mikro.

So I got the Maschine 1.6 and I went to sample but I was wondering how you set the group to 1 so the samples wouldn't overlap. My Maschine software is different than the one that was in the video.
I'm VERY new to using Maschine.. when it goes from one scene to the next, the 808s clash on the first count of the next scene. I've set my 808's to legato, but they still clash when changing next scene. Does anyone have step by step instructions for beginners on How do i stop that??????

@mcsg27 I am having an issue and i am hoping you might be able to help because we both have an audio kontrol. I had no issue physically getting maschine to sample the audio from the internet. I can see the track meter bouncing. My problem is i have no sound output from my headphones. Any ideas?
This is all great but the problem here is still the quality of the samples...for example YouTube Videos or other sources. Normally for quality sampling you need min. 320kbps of source, otherwise it will all sound terrible when it gets louder. Whats your opinion?
@MedleyMo to be honest, I've never noticed an issue. Never get the watery sound and never had volume issues. Just always keep an eye on the source material and find the cleanest possible.
when I set output to Soundflower 16 from my AI the sound cuts off........Is there a way to do this while using Maschine as a Plugin inside your DAW (Logic preferably)

@jcwoody516earthlink look on the video. you set the group to 1 so that each time you hit the pad, it retriggers rather than playing on top of the sample. it refers to the polyphony i believe

When I attempt to check the little flower on the top of my screen to see if it's set to my digi002, I get the multicolor spinning wheel. Did I do something wrong?

Soundflower is exclusive to mac right? Do you know of a similiar program that can be used with windows 7 (64 bit) that can communicate with Maschine in the same fashion?

what you want to do is called timestretching and Maschine does not do that. You can use a DAW like Ableton to do this or a VST like Kontakt

Hey i don't get how you make each pad cut off when you hit another. At 1:42 you said Set group to "I" what do you mean??????? Or anyone else that can tell me please???

@jcwoody516earthlink look on the video. you set the group to 1 so that each time you hit the pad, it retriggers rather than playing on top of the sample. it refers to the polyphony i believe

your tutorial would help A TON more if you actually spoke during it, cause where you change your group to "I" mine doesn't look like yours...and idk if it's supposed to be " i " or if the font is just weird and makes the number 1 look like a capital i. now i'm stuck and can't figure this out...

Bro!!! I just want to thank you so much for this tutorial. I just got the Maschine and been screwing around with Soundflower and this is exactly what I have been looking to do. Soundflower is exclusive to mac right? Do you know of a similiar program that can be used with windows 7 (64 bit) that can communicate with Maschine in the same fashion?
