Hold your horses man, I wrote "Eraserhead" because this song means a lot to me, the movie is one of my all time favorites and this very one word summarizes the feeling.

I love this version of In Heaven. Honestly if the Pixies made one mistake, it was Black Francis wasn't open to Kim singing and writing more often. I would have loved to hear more songs written by her.

Charles considered the Pixies "his" band, no one could get more attention than Charles. I believe that's what led to the their breakup -- lots of people were noticing Kim.

Ah, tis the fate of so many good bands... The frontman thinking they are the center of attention. I've got a LOT of respect for Charles, I mean look at the man now, he's become almost godly in his creativity and productiveness (He's working on more projects then even HE can probably count!) yet his other band members had some great ideas as well.

I respect Charles as well, but the fact remains that his solo projects, as good as they may be, never equaled what he did with the Pixies. It's Charles' ego that stopped the Pixies just at the moment that they were about to become a huge phenomenon.

If you notice in the earlier videos, Charles always looks a little uncomfortable. It seems to me that Kim exudes charisma that Charles couldn't deal with. If you watch the movie loudQuietloud, Joey Santiago talks about Kim becoming a "darling" of the press. She a;ways looks natural in front of the camera.

I think it's a bit more complicated. Charles was jealous of the attention Kim was getting. Kim was frustrated because she wasn't allowed to contribute much to the song writing. I think she was also sexually frustrated --I believe she wanted to get with Chuck and he blew her off. Kim also caused a lot of problems with her drug/alcohol abuse. She could also get very mean and physically abusive.

I totally agree with everything you said, but where did you read she got mean and abusive? I can believe it. That's what addiction can do to people, but I can't remember reading that anywhere.

There was some mention of it in the recent Pixies book "Fool the World" -- when she was interview for this book, she referred to Chuck as that "fucking fuck" . There are also some references in various Music zine articles printed over the years. In '89 Charles and Kim got into a backstage fight, Kim tried to kick Chuck and connected with the band manager's wife instead.

yeah. But she wrote other Pixies songs. Most Charles never let her do. I never knew about all that physical abuse she dished out though, I had heard that Charles threw a guitar at one point, but she seemed to always be the innocent one... Imma have to look into that some more.

I love this version of In Heaven. Its probably my favourite Pixies song actually, but only this version. What a voice. Perfect tempo. Heaven. Just a shame its such a short wee song.

I think that this clip has single handedly rekindled a million crushes on the former Mrs. John Murphy. The whole thing resolves perfectly when she says the word 'fraulein'. On a side note, Charles Thompson looks like uncle Fester now. I expected to see him with a light bulb in his mouth when the camera panned over!
