Great video, great city, great book. Simmons is terrific, though he lets his personal biases get the better of his sports analysis at times. He clearly has his favorites (such as any Boston player of any sport), as well as certain individuals he hates with a relentless passion (Wilt, Isiah, Barry, etc.). He ranks Rick Barry as #26 all-time, when most basketball historians rank Barry somewhere in the 15 to 20 range. Sure, Barry's hair styles were questionable, but let it go, Bill!
If anyone reads the Wilt/Russell chapter, if you think Wilt is a better player you will immediately change your opinion (btw I didn't intend to sound like Hubie).

bill simmons should be shot, his wife should be raped and gutted with a fishing knife, his kids...well...they should be dealt with based on spur of the moment deviancy
I'm enjoying the book, although I'm only on page 140 of 713... his perspectives/opinions ring some truth, although his Boston upbringing has a strong influence on his opinions. Hates Jabbar, Rick Barry and feels early 1960s stats are overblown, among other things... good stuff for NBA fans who didn't follow or research the game prior to the 1990s Blazers...
@redfanrod I'm a Laker fan, and Jabbar was a ninny as he put it. Rick Barry was an abject chucker and WORE A WIG! lmao...that's golden. He was right about 60's stats. Take the 2005 Suns...and ratchet that speed up. Teams took 40-50% more shots a game! That's how Oscar Robertson was getting a triple-double! Volume across the board.
great book. i'm from Poland and I've been reading this book. I must say that is sometimes hillarious but I'm impressed because of the immensity of Simmon's knowledge .
