@pas7680 Really? Which ones didn't allow you to film? The only one I can think of atm is inside the main living quarters of Nijo castle & I've been to about 25 castles in Japan. Its usually the inside of Shinto & Budhist temples & shrines that don't allow cameras in my experience.
@pas7680 Ah ok I havn't been further South than Himeji so far, we plan to head down that way in January. Thanks for the info, we'll probably delegate our time to other places then. I'm really keen to see that place down on the ocean with the Torii in the water : )
@pas7680 Thats the one, yes I'm looking forward to visiting there. I feel a bit funny about checking out the nuke related stuff. I prefer to steer clear of things regarding that era, I think it gets brought up enough already & prefer to focus on other things. Thats why we only went as far as Himeji on our last trip, but we'll be passing through on the next one, so it would be silly not to stop in for at least a day.
@MicknFumi on my last trip i had half a day in hiroshima and half a day on Miyajima to be honest though half a day isn't enough for each. On my next trip i'll spend a day on each.
Japanese castles ROCK!!! So beautifully crafted. I've visited many in Japan, but I don't think we've been to that one. While we were in Japan last week we saw on TV where they're closing Himeji Castle for repairs, and the line to get in was like 1/2 a mile long
@ccr1965 hell yeah I love them.....we were going to visit Himeji in January, but Fumi's mum told us they had already started renovations on the outside. We'll have to catch it next time : )
@finalfantasy4everock The footage of the castle from the outside was some of my favourite footage from this trip, beautiful to see, I was impressed...Yeah they were really up to speed on weapons technology back then, a mini cannon haha yeah, very cool. Would have been funny seeing them with this new technology, but still wearing old samurai battle clothes.
@poke6890 The voice at the :30 min mark is a recorded message talking about the history of the castle. There's a number of them around the place giving you info on that particular area. Thanks for watching : )
@MicknFumi yeah, I would probably do the same ha ha, My promise to my self, never grow up and be an old fart when you can still be childish in your head :P
Were you actually allowed to film in the castle? Most castles i've been to in japan don't allow it.
