5) Freedom from 'Monarchic' Nepotism via Political Dynasties and in Bureaucracy.

Yes, it is. It is democracy working to protect its own existence. Individuals must make personal sacrifices to protect the needs of the many. For example, we as constituents sacrifice our right to absolute freedom (the freedom to do ANYTHING that we want) in exchange for protection against those who would wrong us by exercising an absolute freedom. Thieves don't realize how wrong theft is, for example, until someone has stolen from them. It's regrettable, but true.

Actually, a republic is a form of democracy. Forms of government can be boiled down to two basic types: Autocracies (rule of one or a select few) and Democracies (rule of the people). In a republic, THE PEOPLE elect others to run/be the government, and if THE PEOPLE want a new government, then they elect a new one (at lest the is how a republic is supposed to work).

Democracy is something that can be both good and bad. It's nice to have a majority rules government (in some cases), but it can easily become very tyrannical. The rule of the many can be just as oppressive as the rule of the few.

This is why the United States is a Democratic Republic. It balances power between the many and the individual. Pure democracies can be hell, and our forefathers saw this. It's too bad that the "Republic" part is eroding away to make way for only Democracy.
