i agree, cnn is part of the machine. The questions should have been voted on by the people. I can't imagine they would ever allow that to happen though.
"If we don't fight snowmen there, we'll have to fight them here. Snowmen want to follow us home. They have followed us home! They want a snowman jihad; a snowman caliphate! AHHHHHHHHHH!" Willard Romney
"I likedthat Anderson Cooper made the candidates answer the questions."
I thought it was presumptuous. I am capable of noticing that a candidate dodged a question without his help. I particularly didn't care for the way he barked at Kucinich, saying he would not allow an advertisement. Every one of those stuffed shirts (and blouses) reads an advertisement every time they open their pie holes.
Also, for all the Ron Paul fans, how do you think the youtube debates will assist/hurt in Dr. Paul's campaign? I have a feeling that CNN will just cherry pick questions that are directed towards the "poll leaders".
I have to admit that I was also disappointed with CNN's choice of videos. I really felt that this was the time for youtube's community to show that we can be taken seriously. Some of the questions were great, but I still feel many issues were not covered. I do agree that you cannot cover all the topics, but I felt that some of the comedic videos could have been replaced with questions addressing other issues.
I don't watch tv but I saw some clips of the debate on Youtube and it looked to me like they selected them on entertainment value and avoided anything controversial.
There's no perfect system. I was thrilled to see my NCLB song/video/question on CNN. I thought that Richardson and Biden did a great job answering my question. I wish that there was time for all the candidates to answer!
Wrong, Dr. Paul emphasizes both "free trade" and "free people", as far as I've seen. In fact, when I hear "Message of Freedom", I immediately think "Ron Paul!"
Are you at all familiar w/ Paul's voting record? He's owned by corporations and big business. Gravel and Kucinich especially ARE no-string politicians. Paul fans are way too concerned w/ the broad scope and do not pay much attention to important social issues like health-care and labor rights. Vote for Kucinich
ROFL! Yeah OK, please point out exactly what bills in which Dr. Paul voted in favor of the big corporation lobbies. Dr. Paul, unlike any other, dares to address the FED, IRS, the current Big Brother-size of the Government, and best of all; he's a Constitutionalist.
representativepress: Though i would have much preferred a more democratic selection process - I thought the substance and scope of the questions adequately covered the Democratic field of candidates (short of an impeachment question). What other question(s) would you have liked to have seen?
Thats why KUCINICH hasnt used TV .And CNN is trying to control the Show .They are Weasels !I dont care for CNN and I dont watch it any longer Only When KUCINICH or MOORE is on Kucinich gets my Vote 2008**
Vote Ron Paul in 2008! and save the Constituition! God Bless: Ed and Elaine Brown, Joe Bannister, Mrs. Sheehan, Randy Weaver and Family, Dr. Greer, Proffesor (Physicist) Dr. Steven Jones, and Alex Jones. If you do not know who these people are, I suggest you get Learning. Ron Paul 2008! Good Job!!!!
I likedthat Anderson Cooper made the candidates answer the questions. Usually, you ask a politician a question, and s/he goes off on some rehearsed talking point. AC did a good job of forcing them to answer the damn questions. That was great!
One point that CNN made that I think makes sense is they said if they would have allowed the videos to be voted by the people then like Barack Obama's people could've say voted on a question that they want him to answer or Hillary's people could've voted on a question they wanted for her, or even the question about Arnold Schwarzenegger being a cyborg could have been asked cause it got the most votes and views. So there would have to be a legitimate way for the people to be able to vote.
before the debate, i predicted that cnn would wade through all the submissions and just pick the ones that asked the questions cnn would have asked anyway, rather than showing some new and unique questions about issues that people ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT. i didnt watch the debate, but it sounds like thats exactly what happened. how predictable.
I thought the question were poorly selected too. The questions wasn't softball questions, but the questions lead to predictable answers. Two questions I would have loved to hear is about the Constitution, and their feelings of a mixed or socialistic economy.
The vids were chosen by CNN? Wow...so much for the people talking directly to the candidates. This was just another media-controlled set up then...that is really disappointing to me.
I'm totally voting for Kucinich. Gravel supports my issues but isn't as well spoken. I disagree with Ron Paul on economic issues, but that a republican (really a libertarian) can get me to agree with them on half of their stances is amazing. Well, his suggestion to withdraw from the WTO was a good economic idea, but that's because I've seen that free trade screws consumers and workers. He's definitely for free trade.

I agree RP but it is a step forward and good for YouTube. Let's let CNN and YouTube know they need to do better. We need less filtering.

I am tired of having the mainstream media telling me how I think and feel. Little do they know Americans are smart and they can think for themselves.

YES, Dennis Kucinich is pretty darn good indeed. We need to all vote for him in the Democratic primaries. And Ron Paul in the Republican primaries.
