I think the best part about this very talented girl is that she hasn't been pushed to great lengths (or at least from the videos I've seen) like many child pianists are these days..... Well done Emily!!!! I'm almost double your age and I admire you soo much!! :D I'm working on my first composition but it sucks lol XD
There are many gifted young musicians who have been trained as you suggest, but not one of them that I've seen comes close to playing with the kind of heart & spirit that Emily Bear does. Emily will continue to grow & mature into this extraordinary gift she's been given without needing to learn how to play "more complicated/sophisticate/intelligent music" - there are millions of such musicians in the world - it would be disastrous to her development as a human being & to her gift.
Apparently, your appreciation and understanding of music stops at perpetual C major/ new age elevator pipe-in. No need to try to understand the depth and art of the true masters over the course of human history. Keep yourself happy, I don't give a beep.
Your arrogance is quite staggering - you know nothing of my love of music - as it happens I am a member of Immortal Performances Recordings Society - dedicated to the preservation of rare recordings of opera from the 30's and 40s and have learned much about Mahler, Wagner and other composers through them. But that doesn't keep me from loving Emily Bear's blossoming genius - just as it is.
you know how I sensed that you are ignorant about music regardless of your "hefty" connection with some fluffy club? the fact that you think this young lady doesn't need to be exposed to and learn more of the true masters' works just gave you away!! And By the way, get over the thorn in your butt, it's a bloody free country for Beethoven's sake!!! Get over yourself and LEAVE ME ALONE. if you write anything again, then you would prove you are just a nut case
I really don't understand the antagonistic tone - I've seen alot of hate in the comments on Youtube. I don't intend to participate. Emily should certainly be exposed to great music, just not trained like a monkey to perform complicated pieces before she is ready.

She's a very talented young lady, and not to sound harsh to a little girl, but shouldn't her teachers expose her to more complicated/sophisticate/intelligent music than this new age/Cmajor wall paper stuff? Anyone who has any idea about the art of music will tell you stuff like this is really just froth. I think it's rather short-sighted of her parents/teachers to let her do this day in day out. It's beyond detrimental to her evolution as an artist.
@PK292TSM Chances are she wrote that composition by herself just for that event, so you may want to rethink it as "wallpaper music". Can your 8-year-old write music like that?
Every time when stuff like this come up and people always ask short-sighted question like yours. I didn't question her talent, but I question whether the grown-ups around her know what's the best to do to cultivate, nurture her talents " IN THE LONG RUN"!!!!!! When Brahms was a kid he was begged by agents to tour and show off like Emily Bear is doing today. I am glad that his teacher/mentor knew better to let his rare gift be exploited and worn out.

There have been prodigies who came from poor families that were lucky enough to be discovered and were taught for free. Take Scott Joplin for example. Even the fact that she is a girl would have been a disadvantage had she been born just 100 years earlier. Mozart's sister for example was also very talented, but she wasn't pushed as much to succeed because not as much was expected of her because she was a girl. The point is, music is for anyone and everyone is equal; poor, affluent, male, female.
@groundedbirthdoulas They also just treat her as she is. Herself. And it's cute and sweet all the profits go to charity. What a lovely song. It will be interesting to see how she composes as she ages.
I bet pretty soon she's gonna be sick of being introduced as "The adorable Emily Bear". Almost every video I've seen they call her that. Why not the remarkable Emily Bear, or the Inspiring Emily Bear. It's like, she's adorable yes, but that's not why she's getting booked on talk show and presented awards and making multiple albums, you know?
In the 1970s I moved into a new neighborhood & became best friends with a kid up the block. He started playing piano at the age of 3 (& composing not too long after). By the time I had moved in, he'd been playing for about 4 years. He could play it all, Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, you name it. Everytime I went over to his house to play, he would interrupt our playing with his piano practice. Once he offered to teach me to play, but like an idiot I turned him down. Today he plays all over the world.
I have posted it on alot, but not EVERY video. To answer your question: the videos jogged a memory of mine from my childhood. As I was going from video to video, I couldnt help but share that memory. I dont have anything different to say for each individual video, so I just put the same message. Thats what the comment section is for anyhow. :-).
I am not very familiar with the world of pianists, so I do not know how well known or famous he is these days, if at all. In 2008 he played in New York's Carnegie Hall.
@classicphile No one wants to hear about your personal life. Be grateful for her talent and the amazing joy she brings to the world. She is a lot better than he is so maybe write something about how good she is not about how you know someone who is good.
I think she's amazed by her own fingers by the way she looks at them. :) and I love it of how she looks up while she plays. So talented, young and beautiful.
It's actually "Tomorrows Wishes" which she wrote for the Children's Hospital specifically. In her words, "... hoping they have many more tomorrows and many wishes...". A very beautiful piece and all the proceeds go to Children's Hospital.
It is so beautiful, music straight from heaven! Thank you little angel :-)

She's amazingly talented. but thankfully for her, she was in an affluent family that had the means to guide her skill.
sadly, I have met children who should be where she is, but they come from such poor families, they work and care for the other children.
Some are luckier then others. may she use her talent for the greatest good and healing. :)

Not disagreeing with you at all. But as for Mozart's sister, in context, women weren't expected to do anything other then be wives and mothers.
And music is for everyone, its just a shame everyone doesn't get to have the music, those "prodigies" you speak of were a drop in the bucket.
May all children have the means to meet their talent!
