I pretty much agree with freakin1. DKC2 is one of my favorite games, and having played DKC3 again recently, I feel like it was very carelessly made. As a kid, I thought the overworld and the boats were cool, and some of the levels are very memorable, but many of them, especially later in the game, seem lazy and dull. It is hard to pinpoint exactly what sets 2 so far above 3 because they're crafted from the same core elements, but IMO, the superiority is undeniable.
@freakin1random I don't know if this has been mentioned before (probably), but this game was made near the SNES' life cycle. Rare was already gearing up for the N64, and I think it really showed in the quality of DKC3. I don't think it was anywhere close to being as horrible as you say it was, but it definitely felt like it had a markedly lower budget.
@Saestrol well thats what i mean, compared to the first two it was very repetative, for me. Its a different experience entirely, and i didn't like it as much. Maybe that's because i played it on the piece of shit GBA i had, idk lol
i wouldn't sya DKC3 is utter trash, but IMO it is the weakest of the series, and honestly DKC2 still blows 3 out the water music, difficulty(i fully complete DKC3 years before i ever did 2) gameplay and just overall design wise, bu DKC2 was really a masterpiece of a game that would be tough to top by most games on the SNES and even now anyway.
Either way, anyone saying its complete garbage is being a little too harsh, its still a good game..just...not as good as the first or second DKC games.
@Saestrol I beat both the SNES and GBA versions. The only problem in the GBA version is that the sequence when K. Rool gets chased by the Banana queen is shorter with different music too. Thanks for showing us! :D
on the donkey kong country 3 menu screen were you select the game file you want to play press L,R,R,L,R,R,L,R,L,R then a screen will come come up that says: ''enter code'' then you can put in a code such as the one Seastrol said. see IGN.com for more codes.
Did anyone notice that, while in that cutscene of the Banana Bird Queen chasing K. Rool, the small waterfall in Cotton Top Cove was messed up? Pause at 7:09 and you'll see it!
A) Why reply to my comment explaining something else?
B) This game came out the same year the N64 would be released (1996), so Nintendo wanted to entreat people with something of a "sneak peak". Of course the people that made that technology would obviously have it before we ever could.
Half of the first ending skipped because I didn't feel like devoting two parts into it. Also, some time not accounted for in the file is map travel in between stages.
agree with the statement at the end - DKC2 was a hard act to follow, but I think this managed it well. The last DKC game on SNES, and honestly I thought it was a blockbuster finish. Such a novel idea with the overworld navigation and exploration, "good music" (not the best of the series) and some brilliant boss design. Practically a summary of my SNES experience.
Thanks for this Walkthrough, I found my last 3 bonuscoins thanks to you.
I have only one question: I've finished the game with 105% (I use the codes "TUFST" and "ASAVE") but instead of having to rating "immortal monkey" (like you) I only get "cheat'n chump". Why?? is this because of ASAVE or just any code (what can't really be, because you need at least TUFST to get 105%)?
That cheat rating is usually associated with using the WATER code and saving. But it may be affected by that one too. HARDR, TUFST, ERASE, COLOR, MUSIC and MERRY shouldn't affect your rating. I'm not sure which version of the game you are playing but it just might be that it's a version-specific change (a very minor one if at all)
People haven't really gone and found out what all the ratings are, or tested which ones cause the Cheatin' Chump very much at all.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH. ALL I NEED NOW IS TO FIND ALL THE DK COINS... I FINISHED ALL THE STAGES AND I ONLY GOT 30 DK COINS... HOW CAN I FIND THEM? EVERY LEVEL HAS ONE ? HOPE I MUSTN'T START THE GAME ALL OVER AGAIN... :-ss
A) You don't need the Caps Lock. Robots tend to be characterized with this, but it's otherwise on par with yelling.
B) Each and every stage has a DK Coin you can find. You will know if you found it when the "DK" mark appears beside the name of the level. Send this to PMs if you need any further explanations.
I FINISHED THIS GAME WHEN I WAS LITTLE FOT OF COURSE NOT EVEN AT 60 % AND NOW I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY IN THE SECOND MAP THE WOOD WON'T PUT HIMSELF ABOVE THE RIVER...
Let's try to answer all 3 of your questions in one shot. I've covered these matters through this video series. I have a Playlist if you like..
Kremwood Forest: Beat Brash's Riverside Race's record time. His anger will shake the log into the river.
The Mirror: Go back to Barter after clearing Razor Ridge (or later) to buy back the Mirror.
Caves: Various tasks are required for some caves to open. Many are found on the Northern Kremishpere (World Map). Some have an item trade sequence involved.
how do you get alla the DK coins ??? PLEASE HELP ME !!! I ONLY HAVE 30 :(( And Where are all the caves ? I only got 9 without those you can find with the gyrocopter... PLEASE HELP ME SAES !!!
I always thought DKC3 was the best of the three! DKC2 is literally a close second. DKC3 in my opinion is the best Super NES game of all time, DKC2 is the second, and Chrono Trigger is the third, and a tie between Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Super Mario RPG for fourth place. Tetris Attack is fifth place and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is in sixth...am I saying too much lol?
It allows you to earn an extra 2% that you could not get without it. For example, 1 % is obtained by beating the game while skipping and never breaking every single save barrel halfway through each stage. Some stages makes this impossible because they are blocking the way (like Rocket Rush).
You can use the "HARDR" code. But only before starting a new game if you want the 104% It removes 29 DK barrels from the game., where as "TUFST" removes both the Aforementioned DK Barrels and all Save Point Barrels. These %s can be obtained where you clear the game fully.
Sorry dude, but DKC2's music is WAY better, and the graphics are more impressive. The baddies appear more dangerous, too. I will say this, though: The levels definitely get harder in DKC3.
Btw, it's quite cool, that grandma plays Nintendo 64, before it was even released. Just one of a few things that helped make this game so fucking awsome!
This game also has the best music in any of the games i ever played (I played a lot!)
The fun thing is, i actually came here, because i just found a band called " Detektivbyrån with Life/universe" that i thought reminded so much of the song played at the big banana bird in the skies.
check it out " Detektivbyrån - Life/universe " ! :)

But it seemed...lacking for all the things you had to do to get it. 41 DK coins, a long trade sequence, so many simon says puzzles... although that score table at the end is pretty cool
You assume too much, William. While having played the game and even playing a 2-player team on and off with a friend, I don't think I'll get into that one... not now. I haven't found all the secret areas and items or other stuff.
I thought I had this one down pat, but boom, missed a whole bunch of stuff.
