If the consciousness does evolve, it would probably do so through reproduction and Darwin's evolution. Perhaps you could say we are given 20-30 years to mature and learn, then we pass on our growth to the next generation through reproduction and the species as a whole grows that way. While the individual may die and cease to exist, his genetic information is preserved and continues to evolve through the generations. Too bad humanity's evolution is being suppressed.
Also, if you've ever been under general anesthesia during surgery, you'll know that during the time you're asleep, you basically don't exist. You fall asleep on the operating table and wake up in the recovery room as if no time had passed. I imagine death would be the same, only you don't wake up...at least not with your old memories, body, and personality. Just another thing to consider...

While I agree that pure consciousness itself cannot be destroyed, I do not believe that the things that make an individual unique, such as memories and personality, continue after death. The documents you mention all date from about 7BC - 1 BC. Stories and parables were countless in number in the infancy of our species.
Which documents are you referring to with those dates? Your timeline is way off. BTW While the dates are somewhat relevant, you should keep in mind that most ancient texts were edited and rewritten from much older texts. The Sumerian tablets and the Old testament are a perfect example of this.

If the consciousness does evolve, it would probably do so through reproduction and Darwin's evolution. Perhaps you could say we are given 20-30 years to mature and learn, then we pass on our growth to the next generation through reproduction and the species as a whole grows that way. While the individual may die and cease to exist, his genetic information is preserved and continues to evolve through the generations. Too bad humanity's evolution is being suppressed.

Also, if you've ever been under general anesthesia during surgery, you'll know that during the time you're asleep, you basically don't exist. You fall asleep on the operating table and wake up in the recovery room as if no time had passed. I imagine death would be the same, only you don't wake up...at least not with your old memories, body, and personality. Just another thing to consider...

The tricky part of this is that maybe some beings have learned to retain their memories and learned experiences, they have such a strong conscious that death means nothing to them and over time they have grown to seek power of the ones less “evolved” and again not every evolved agree with this method

Also, I can tell you all from personal experience that what we call the soul is fully dependent on chemical reactions in the brain and it can be destroyed by neuro-degenerative diseases, mind-altering drugs, and psycho-surgery whereby a portion of the brain is removed. Hmm I have to disagree with David on the issue of death. While I agree that pure consciousness itself cannot be destroyed, I do not believe that the things that make an individual unique, such as memories and personality, continue after death. Even while we are alive, our personalities change and memories are lost. If brain damage and Alzheimer's can destroy memories/personality, why can't the complete decomposition of the brain and body do the same?

Although I can completely agree with many of his opinions the idea of life after death in the literal sense (ie meeting with loved ones after we die) is a childish belief. We are all just energy that changes form, our conciousness will disappear along with our identity.
I believe that as simple minded humans, we would be incapable of understanding the truth as this universe and what it is a part of would be beyond true comprehension.

There's only one truth - one thing that rigidly always exists and always will - love. Love is consciousness. Consciousness is love. They're synonymous. Fear is just less of that consciousness, but it's still love. Just not 'love' as we think of it. Emotions are just wavelengths of consciousness. Explains why I'm aware of things I wouldn't normally know about when I'm in a state of love. I'm conscious, so I'm aware of more. Makes perfect sense to me.

you know it's funny, but I have told a room full of people that they have lived before, and that i believed that each one of them could tell me how they died...they looked at me like I had lost my mind...and I was told bluntly that I was full of shit..So i asked each person if they had dreamt that they died for real...and within an hour EVERY person could tell me in graphic detail how they had died...and how real it was. I also noticed no one had died the same way as anyone else..

Which documents are you referring to with those dates? Your timeline is way off. BTW While the dates are somewhat relevant, you should keep in mind that most ancient texts were edited and rewritten from much older texts. The Sumerian tablets and the Old testament are a perfect example of this.

My timeline was correct, except maybe the sumerian tablets which are around 2500BC. The Book of Enochs oldest sections were 300BC and the Dead Sea Scrolls were around 150BC to 70BC, the others were all around that time too.

cont... I realize everyone has different types of pain,sorrow,regret and other types of joy. It is no human beings place to infringe on your free will, that is the only thing we truly own during and after our physical time. People that feel themselves to be victims will be victims, but if you turn that victimization around you can help others realize that "it happened" and it can be taken back so use it as tool of bettering yourself and those around you. cont.. I make a lot less now then I did 4 years ago (about 48k less) but I have a better life, money was not my answer it was my question and still is. I prefer a life where money does not exist, and my feeling is that this country will get that in a very unsettling way. We do not have to wander aimlessly but we need to just to find our way, sometimes it takes years sometimes it doesn't. A blind man who regains his vision will be frightened of the world he sees, because it destroys the world...

...he has known for all his life. A man who has the world for many years and then becomes blind stumbles through his new world, but he has no choice he must adapt. While you may have sight the world around you is dark, so stop using your eyes and use your heart to guide you it will lead you to people who will share this path...after all here you and I are. Experience all that you can and go from there, your pain is temporary...you just have to let go of it. Be well my friend.

That should be comfort to us. The vast infinite size and nature of the universe, relying on that infinite and not on this finite and often times troublesome self should be a relief :)
