No, the coil is not used to "amplify a charge:" it is used to create current.

@weezzell5400 The current is induced in the coil by a moving magnetic field (IE.. the moving magnet). You can also induce a charge in the coil by moving coil across a magnetic field, but either way, it requires motion. Instead of trying to get energy that isn't there, try making a more efficient engine. That 2 stroke engine is probably only 40% efficient with 60% of the energy going out the exhaust and radiating away from the engine.

Many folks are unable to distinguish science from pseudo-science or reality from illusion for that matter. As Desertphile is showing in this video the current to the spark plug is created by Electromagnetic Induction. The energy in this case comes from physical work.

I don't see any excuses for not knowing this. If you don't, pick up a highschool physics textbook or use wikipedia.

i probably should have mentioned in my earlier post that the coil increases the voltage received from the magneto (after pulling cord to start motor)and steps up the voltage to create a spark from the spark plug. these days in your avg automotive coil or coil pack it could be as much as 30k-60k volts. some may even get higher voltage depending on the motor and spark plug gap.

that high a voltage can give you a nasty shock (trust me i know from experience ) :)

What I think is interesting is that piston airplane engines have been using magnetos while automotive engines have used electronic ignition for.. as far back as I'm familiar.  I'm sure some cars have used magnetos at some point, but whereas I've flown in small planes that used magnetos (two per engine typically, redundancy is nice when you're a couple thousand feet up in the air) I've never seen a car with one.

the magneto (magnet) supplies power which the coil amplifies thus giving enough juice to ignite the spark in the plug. by itself the magnet cannot supply power of itself. the initial energy comes from cranking the motor via the pull cord. after tthat the ignition of the gas supplies the power to keep the magneto moving to create the spark....
