I tried it this way, and failed repeatedly. The bend was just too much for the joints, and the hoop broke and seperated at the peak.
What I ended up having to do was use solid sections of 20' PVC, which was easy to find at local plumbing supply stores (or use grey PVC Conduit from electical supply houses). Then I took PVC T's and cut the back side off so that they would clip onto the pipe. It takes a couple to find the right amount to cut off, but after you find it, they are easy to make.
what a great ideal, and so easy to put together.going to the hardware store in the morning and get the pvc and build my own before winter really gets here.
@MsTokies years ago I did a 10 x 12 with 6 mill plastic from homedepo. treated 2x8 for ground frame, and a old wood screen door . I used them pipe holders to attach the PVC to the wood base. Worked good for the first year, then PVC started to break in the wind during the next winter. I'm in Michigan, and would not suggest the re-bar inside the PVC. To attach the wood base to the re-bar, yes .my Total cost was $150, but Just the roll of clear 6 mill 20ftx100ft was $75 ,held 30 seed flats nice.
As the wind shakes the Green house, I can imagine the pipes being inserted over the re-bars crack and break. that's the weak point of this design I'd say
I had a little 7x7x12 greenhouse that the wind took down after it was up 6 months. i was looking on building somthing better than the kit i bought. with the pvc it seems i should be able to anchor it better to the ground. i am having trouble finding the other clips for this project.
How much does it cost?
