This little lady leading that kick-ass band sure made for a really great concert. That goes for seeing her in '82, '83, '88 or in '07. By '07 Pat had lost some edge off her high notes (understandably) Otherwise she totally Rocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Useless trivia... but here goes; actually, I seem to remember Abba's Agneetha Faltskog being voted 'rear of the year' at some point in the late 70's. Again... useless trivia.
@birtchfeld1 LOL! I always imagined Pat Benatar's ass smelling like roses, whereas the chicks from Abba's asses smelling like my dog's breath after eating a dead bird in the yard. Strange I tell you...
@birtchfeld1 You know---- he may just be right about that, her ass may indeed smell like roses as he says. I bet what was betweeen her thighs at that period in her life was very sweet as well! YUMMY!!!
Greatest ass in Rock N Roll, argueably the best female rock vocalist of all time.
And her band never got any credit. They were tight as hell. First concert I ever saw; saw them in 1979, I was in 8th grade :-) The Pier in NYC, Billy Squire was the opening act.
@innamorata40 ok thanks bro. couldn't really see him. he has those crazy Bozzio moves. ha ha. I am a huge Bozzio fan. he is sooo good. I am a bass player who really wanted to be a drummer. long story. I listen to Bozzio and can't even understand how he does what he does???
This is the album version of the song; it wasn't recorded live but this is the only video for it. I'm thinking they just dubbed it over a live performance.
I saw her last night (5-30-10) at Speed Street in Charlotte the night before the Coca-Cola 600...... Wow, she was amazingIIII I figured at age 57 her voice might have lost a notch or two.... BOY WAS I WRONG!!! Her voice echoed off of the skyscrapers downtown with about 30k in attendance. She used it as a weapon all night.... I can't say enough!!!! BLOWN AWAY!!!!!!
Down here in Charlotte... WE LOVE YOU Mrs. Benatar. Plz come back and do it again next year!!!
had a weird dream last night that i was her new drummer, then Aretha Franklin came on stage, and did a mash up version of P-R-O-M-I-S-E-S. yeah, weird.
Benatar said in an interview that she wrote this song on a plane trip. The hum of the engines provided in background and you can hear it in the intro. She wrote the lyrics about her guitarist (and future husband) Neil Giraldo, and slipped them under his hotel room door as a note because she was still shy about her lyric skills. How cute is that! : )
@Sheldonwh Well that explains why she often walked like she was a little bow-legged or something.... he must have really left her should we say?:>> Sore?
I grew up listing to her music but never realized she really put together such a highly talented band. Although I must confess being a drummer I think her drummer is insanely great!
The Guitarist Later Became Her Husband of Many Years and are still together today... He is Responsible for Most of Her Hits... so He Deserves Some Props!!!
Awesome "Pat Benatar! as usual".....and @msmoore12 that is a good idea! she could teach those kids some tricks of the trade " Keep on Rockin Pat!.... "We luv ya"!
@Just4Meeeee How are BOTH Pat Benatar and Ann Wilson not in the Rock N' Roll HoF? But Madonna and Run DMC are in? LOL! At this point, I consider it a badge of honor to not be included in that company.
I remember as a kid in the 80's having a crush on her and rockin' to her music. Every time we would be at the beach I'd always hear her on the arcade stereo or on the juke box at pizza hut! LOL
Boy, she just belts it out at about the 2:30 mark then Neil just shreds it. I don't think any of the female singers today, or a lot of the male singers could hold a candle to her and the raw power of her voice.
I was a young boy in high school when her first LP came out. Right when the hormones were flowing, and I was smitten. Still am. She just oozes sex appeal, she wrote great songs, and that voice just left me in awe. Damn, DAMN she was hot!

Still the worst concert I ever went to in 1983 at the LA Sports Arena....oh maybe the Go-Go's with Belinda Carlisle's thrashed voice in 1984 at Irvine Meadows.
Obviously you're a fucking idiot. Pat Benatar puts on a show like no other female rock singer. You also mention that you went to a Go Go's concert, well that in itself shows your inferior taste in music and inability to recognize true talent so go fuck yourself

Such a HUGELY under-rated guitarist. A producer and once collaborated with bignames such as Rick Derringer, Neil Giraldo has awesome technique and soul. His leads are searing and match the fiery vocals of Pat. Rock on Neil!
Pat rocks my soul, but at the same moment touches it deeply, as cheesy as that may sound. Cornball, I know... But, "Promises in the Dark"... Ouchy. You gotta love her rawness. She speaks for so many of us. Timeless artist and beauty.

I had forgotten how awsome SHE IS !!!! My older sister turned me on to Pat Benatar when I was 10 yrs old. I think I'll go thank her again after watching this video! WOW!!!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It always comes to my thoughts why they never grew to some big band because the album wit this song was so unique and good in its way that I expected them to become succesfull through out the decades but they never had such an album ever again. She is a great singer tho. They do BBQ's and weddings now I heared?
PAt Benetar and her husband now produce music like their daughter's and Pat has continued to make album just a different type of music. Her band has made numerous top ten hits and then some....FYI!
Are you an idiot, uninformed or both? Pat and Niel decided to step back from the spotlight and mainstream music as far as recording and now record the type of music that is important to them. They still tour in the summer mostly and play at alot of military bases in support of our troups. Before you make a stupid statement like "They do BBQ's and weddings" Do your homework!!!!!
2:16 to 2:46 maybe the best vocal half a minute in rock/pop history. "So you put up your guard and you try to be hard, but your heart says try again." Sung with so much emotion, subtle but slamming.
The subscriber of this video claims this is live....
This is directly from the album and not live. I've heard this song a million times since I was a teenager. The audience makes the video appear live, but it is not.
Not really, her parents wanted her to be an opera singer. She is trained in opera, but her heart is in rock and roll. Her parents were to strict to allow her to go to rock and roll shows or clubs growing up. They would let her go to operas and shows however.
I will be meeting Pat and Neil backstage at the Pacific Amp. show in Costa Mesa tonight. After the meet and greet, I get to sit on the side of the stage during the concert. I CAN'T WAIT!!!
This is an all time classic....one of the first albums I just needed to have...great guitar work and vocals. Would love to see them perform in The Netherlands some day.
She puts every female singer today to SHAME! if u want to call them singers...LOL

It always comes to my thoughts why they never grew to some big band because the album wit this song was so unique and good in its way that I expected them to become succesfull through out the decades but they never had such an album ever again. She is a great singer tho. They do BBQ's and weddings now I heared?

What are you talking about? Pat Benatar had a multitude of hits in the 80s.
M1903A1 2 years ago 2
PAt Benetar and her husband now produce music like their daughter's and Pat has continued to make album just a different type of music. Her band has made numerous top ten hits and then some....FYI!

Are you an idiot, uninformed or both? Pat and Niel decided to step back from the spotlight and mainstream music as far as recording and now record the type of music that is important to them. They still tour in the summer mostly and play at alot of military bases in support of our troups. Before you make a stupid statement like "They do BBQ's and weddings" Do your homework!!!!!

Thanks for doing my homework for me.......great to hear that they do whatever they want to do..would be nice to have them over for a BBQ tho.

She wanted to be an opera singer...and that is how she trained
RogueWinds 2 years ago 2
Not really, her parents wanted her to be an opera singer. She is trained in opera, but her heart is in rock and roll. Her parents were to strict to allow her to go to rock and roll shows or clubs growing up. They would let her go to operas and shows however.
blueracer17 2 years ago
My point was...the opera training is what made her such a strong singer.
