  • This song's apparently about an East Indian (or Middle Eastern) belly dancer...and is more sophisticated than other songs of this genre.

"Time for a little girl or boy" could be a reference to "make love, not war". It somtimes makes babies.....but that's far better than killings on the battlefield.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS VERY RARE SONG!! :)

  • ASTONISHING!! This is the song I just heard only this morning on "John's Attic" (KCSN-FM,Los Angeles). That's an Oldies show....and this morning they featured

    "Halloween" and special music....

I'd never heard of this song before. It had come out in 1962 (said the announcer) and he said that some people called it "Native Girl". (Obviously, there was ANOTHER song called "Elephant Walk" (by Henry Mancini).

  • This was one of my ultimate jams as a kid!

  • all time KILLER tune. trembles my marrow everytime.

  • This song brought back so many memories. Thank you so much. How can I buy this song on a CD?

  • this song takes me back 30 years thanks for posting................

  • THANKS SO MUCH I AM INLOVE AGAIN. CRAZY MEMORIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Let's get on a time machine back again to the 60's for the music.

  • Your very welcome my good friend! I already posted over 1300 odd 50s & early 60s, I never left the 60s, get back on the TIME MACHINE.

  • The Burgh lives, porky loved this, and it works today.

  • Right On!

  • Maybe it"s me but I really dig the intro if you listen close you'll hear this cool guitar riff real lighly in the background. And with lines like "When your stomach speaks you forget your mind"Ect...Ect.Thats gold. And of course the vocals. Man, you've got to dig that.

  • It's not you, It's grows on you, I hear what your saying about the guitar, ya, ya! I said that because when I 1st played it I put it aside after hearing the beginning. After a period of time I said, ah, let me play it through, and dam, I loved it!

  • Gousters on the floor. A classic Chi-Town Dusty.

  • YES!!

  • Might be average to some, but the 45's are selling for $30 and up. Got to be some serious fans somewhere. Jody Reynolds (Endless Sleep) discs go for $5. Money talks, bullshit walks.

  • I must be a little jaded ... this song is merely average, but whoever had the brilliant idea to record that awful intro should be shot! I'm not knocking the vocals & harmony, but there's a helluva lot better in this genre.

  • This is why I said *GET PAST the 1st 20 SECONDS, THIS SONG IS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!

"this song is merely average" It depends on what you like, there are many hits I can't stand like, Lion Sleeps, Sea Cruise, Splish Splash, Rock Around The Clock, GOD they were awful songs. One group I never liked was the Platers, I don't have 1 single record by them. It all depends on what one likes. It's not the best I have, but compared 2 what I just listed, it's a knockout.

  • it's alright to be a little jaded. there's no accounting for the public's taste. elephant walk is a pittsburgh cult classic. went into the top 5 of the pgh surveys in '63. of course the beatles were no big thing in the steel city either. so who knows,

  • A classic Windy City dustie...

  • Alot of good taste out there, thanks for the posting, Blendtones Lovers would be a nice addition.
