Calvary Church uses what is known as a Blended service. They have a mixture of classical and contemporary music. Yes, they have the other instruments, but the organ does play the prelude and postlude. Truly an amazing instrument at an amazing church. If you have never heard "Mighty Mo" then you are missing out.
Have you ever thought that many churches do a traditional and then contemporary service and that you are watching the contemporary service? Also, I have heard many a pipe organ playing for a "rock-n-roll" service that was just wonderful. First Baptist Jacksonville, FL does it all the time.
I see this church has unfortunately crossed over into the contemporary realm like so many others. I've been wanting for years to make it up to Calvary to hear the organ one Sunday, but after hearing this mess, I'll pass! It makes me sick to see a church organ of this caliber get reduced down to background noise for rock-n-roll service music!
at least they still let the organist play. in my previous church they tore the organ and choir loft out to make way for the urban craze. I don't mind the urban music but i think it should be in a separate service. like the evening service or something.
This is a beautiful Church. Pictures do not do it justice. I saw it in person and wow, it is just amazing.
