  • Oh, that Woman laughing! Am I the only one who found her just a little annoying?

  • @edgeypoosisepic yes, you are.

  • @edgeypoosisepic The one at the beginning? Yeah, a little bit annoying. Why'd you capitalize "woman" though?

  • I could listen to this over and over and over

  • @Anishly Could? I did. :D

  • this woman amazes me.

  • that gave me shivers...in a good way :)

  • it's not called B its called 'If i should have a daughter"

  • @Ficklepickle909 Actually the title is "B" as in "point B". After it was used in the TED talks, they attached "If I should have a daughter" because it starts out that way. Thanks.

  • @speakeasynyc THANKYOU! idk why ppl keep calling it "if i should have a daughter" team POINT B!

  • whoo! goosebumps... :P

  • My friend and I absolutely fell in love with this, so we've painted it on our walls.

  • @MusicLuvr79 that is amazing

  • she came to my school and performed some of her poems, this was one of them.

    it changed my life :)

  • @youngaria Wow! You're sooo lucky! I watch her poems everyday for inspiration and she never fails to leave me in awe. I really hope I'll have the chance to meet her one day. (:

  • THIS IS WONDERFUL...IT'S JUST AMAZING...MY 1ST TIME HEARING STUFF LIKE THIS.....THIS IS INSPIRATIONAL...HOW OLD R U? AND WHAT IS THE TECHNIQUE TO WRITING GREAT POEMS?

  • @SPSKDM Not talking in all caps, using correct punctuation, and spelling everything out the way it was meant to be spelled. Different from talking like a normal person, it takes practice, and listening to people read their poetry. It takes reading as much poetry as you can, soaking up every little word like it was the last drop of water you will ever see. It takes dedication, and understanding.

  • The user who commented below is a pathetic person. He's probably a stupid person who doesn't see opportunities in the system. He's probably a jealous and bitter person who would rather see his neighbor fail than himself succeed. That would also make him a lazy person. He probably tried to delete the account along with the user name, but they wouldn't let him. I bet he feels shame, and would apologize for being so pathetic, if he wasn't a coward. So ill apologize for him.

  • Sarah, you're my future wife

  • Little breaks bewteeen the sentences or words would make this more pleasant to listen to.

  • Beautiful poem. First saw it on TED

  • brought a tear to my eye. This is what all children need to hear.

  • I....don't understand poetry...can you rhyme?

  • @rushinrussian11 poetry doesn't have to rhyme, it can but it doesn't have to.

  • @namely2000: No, you're a hater because you don't like something BECAUSE everybody else likes it. Also because you're drowning in negativity, can't deal with your own turmoil and don't like to see someone strong enough to grab their own turmoil by the guts and turn it into something beautiful. Peace.

  • @tripfunkmonster no. if she starts rhyming and does stuff with meter I might get into her. I got this old fashioned mindset, its embarrassing.

  • my lungs like the taste of a dust blunt ;(

  • Did you write that yourself?

  • this is what my teacher introduced me to :)

    I LOVE MS. DAS <3

  • "sarah kay, your beauty is like a thousand of fires, you are what ever man disires. through your youtube videos you give an insperation and with your sexyness you are a big sensation. oh sarah kay you bloom like the month of may, many would want to watch you all day"

    lol

  • @namely2000 I think the delivery is good but a lot of the metaphor is labored. I wouldn't say it's very bad but I wouldn't call it very good either.

  • this is high art. im inspired

  • Man that gave me chills. Bravo!!!! BRAVO!!!!

  • beautiful

  • She is amazing. Her voice.

Her words always give me goosebumps.

This made me tear up, and realize a lot.

  • Wow. Fantastic stuff.

  • OMG. U r soooo flippin Awesome...!!! I def. wanna c U Live..!!!

  • lyrics???????

  • Get it! She makes poetry legit.

  • Any relationship to Danny Kay ? Mary Kay ?

  • Female Eminem. Yah!

  • thats the same poem - watch?v=0snNB1yS3IE

  • amazing!

  • i like the part that sarah said "..no matter how wide you stretch you're fingers your hands will always be too small to catch all the pain you want to heal.."

  • I've listened to it twice over, and so many more times to come. Beautiful <3

  • My fav by far .. truly passionate

  • the only reason dudes are melting is she says stuff reel passionate. i bet i could butcher this and schitz it out and nobody would like it.

  • @namely2000 obviously no one would like it because you ruined it and let me tell you this. Passion is determination and what leads people to success. We support those who try hard to achieve their goals and what are you doing?

  • @duc132 what message can a sheltered 22 y/o girl with only a bachelors degree send? It takes courage to get up and spill your guts on stage, i'll give her that. I just don't like her goal. I'm not into spoken word. I'm not into exposure, not you tube exposure anyway, so I'm a little embarrassed for her:( me? I'm learning, not teaching.

  • @namely2000: Besides being delusional, you're a hater. Maybe one day you'll be able to appreciate this. I hope so.

  • best poet ever

  • beautiful, just beautiful

  • poetry... so strange to me, maybe one day when i will fall in love :)

  • @turbo200sx007 I hope you realize you're just making yourself look even more stupid. It's a bit childish when you're calling people names, and not even giving a simple argument why you think this poem was "emo." By the way, great name you have there, goes along with your little kid act. I'm surprised you don't have S15 at the end of your name, or rather just put Silvia instead. Good luck in life kid, if you're going to act like that for the rest of it you're going to need it.

  • @turbo200sx007 Scathing retort, there, buddy. It's a sad world we live in when intellect is overshadowed by basic boning. But hey, it's cool. When you hit puberty, you'll realize that there's far greater value in a women that is both sexy and intelligent, not just a hot piece of ass. ;) Thanks for playing, though!

  • @AirFlowsBlack Hahahaha! Thanks for playing, though. I love it.... seriously I'm not being sarcastic.

  • i hope she's single

  • I don't really dig poetry but I appreciate seeing someone that is great at what they enjoy...

  • 'the very ones you want to save are standing on your cape"

  • Awesome Sarah!!!

  • I'm a newb i dont get it XD Oh god...

  • @turbo200sx007 Not remotely. If you had even the slightest grasp of what spoken word poetry is, or if you had even listened to her words at all, you wouldn't even begin to think that. This is inspirational and beautiful.

  • AMAZING !

  • beautiful every time i watch it.

  • That was well spoken and beautiful. "I loved it'

  • Oh my goodness that was so amazing<3 I want to meet her haha

  • this blew me away. i'm inspired.

  • Genius.

  • This poem makes me simultaneously feel like I'm the naivee daughter who is experiencing the world for the first time and the mother who is strong and a warrior. Amazing.

  • I love this poem so so so so soooooooooooo much.

  • Boys get to have Rudyard Kipling's 'If', and we get to have this :) Absolutely beautiful.

  • that was beautiful

  • this poem is amazing, you are amazing

  • Beautiful... As well as the poem. Haha.

I really don't know what to think of this. I've never seen nor heard anything like this before. Spoken word poetry. Why, haven't i discovered this sooner? Or at least Sarah Kay? Well, i know one thing for sure; she can paint a better picture than most artists out there. You can see each gentle brush stroke as she speaks... You can see each dip of the brush as she pauses... I've drawn my whole life, but to do so with words? That's just amazing.

  • sarah kay is the most talanted person i know!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You're beautiful.

  • three years ago this was my introduction to spoken word/slam poetry...and it still gets me every time. love it love it love it!

  • inspiring.

  • I've worked at the Bowery Poetry Club. Magic happens there, believe me.

  • check her out on TED she has really awesome 20 minute discussion

  • Hoooooly Crap-oly...... That was breathtaking.

  • amazing.

  • so beautiful

  • WOW!!!! This was deep!!!! I have much respect for her

  • She should change her name to Sarah Awesome Kay.

  • Life is like sugar, it can dissolve in an instant, but don't be afraid to stick your toungue out and taste it...

    Amazing!

  • Wow. Respect.

  • that was amazing

  • well....i wish i would've been warned of all of this before going thru all of this...little girls sometimes grow up thinking life is a fairy tale...but regardless of life's lessons, im still 'pretty fuckin naive' lol i LOVE this one..

  • She's always showing so much passion and love. I love her performances.

  • Beautiful

  • I teared up. This is amazing

  • Beautiful.

  • I wonder if she'd marry me. XD

  • More, please.

  • wow!AMAZING!!!AWESOME!!!LOVE IT!!!!

  • The 12 individuals that hit "dislike" on this performance have never met her mother! Amazing performance, brilliant writer!

  • i am pretty fucking naive.:) my favorite part haha

  • shes sooooooooo amazing. <3 [: love this

  • The amount of wisdom she carries i'm amazed she's only 22.....wow!

  • WONDERFUL!

  • Her idioms remind me of "pataphors". Look up "pataphysics" on Wikipedia.

  • If utopia might ever exist - it's seeds will have been planted and nurtured by women like this. Only those willing and able to face the depths of darkness have the ability to escape and rise above it.

  • one word... : goosbumps.

  • listen to this every day the kind of love id want 4 my child

  • 'Always apologize when you've done something wrong, but don't you ever apologize for the way your eyes refuse to stop shining. Your voice is small, but don't you ever stop singing.'

    Beautiful.

  • Sweet!

  • I haven't heard her voice in almost 4 months. I guess that's synonymous to being deaf... or just plain depressed. I'll have to travel to Cali to see her. It'll be worth it.

  • true artist admire and hate those that can paint emotion with words especially spoken words while i struggle to express my self on paper...

  • Shivers.

  • Absolutely brilliant.. the way she puts it together is just amazing.. I wish i had that talent!

  • beautiful... thats pretty much all i can say to describe this

  • Oh thank you thank you thank you.

  • I watch this almost every day now...and I kinda feel like everyone should.

  • this is like a lullaby to me.

  • i just fell in love.

  • She gave me shivers up my spine. I applaud.

  • I love her stuff. This made me cry. Reminds me of how I am about my daughter.

  • Some day I'll have a daughter and I'll use your words to supplement mine.

  • Powerful. love and life affirming.

  • This poem never gets old, I could listen to this as a soundtrack in my head. Sarah Kay, you are incredible. <3
