  • Emma! Why did you have to leave? We miss you so much!

  • I am falling in love with is song, and this band for that matter

  • So sad that the chick left the band name.. her name escapes me at the moment.

  • @snorowl emma ditchburn - beautiful voice, beautiful woman

  • I got this album for my birthday when it first came out and I hated it at first but now I absolutely love it.

  • i stumbled apon them and im not dissapointed have went through all there songs, but two good ones in a row aint bad

  • that was beautiful, glad i happened to stumble onto it!

  • Ah, the beuty of true art, that every person may find meaning for themsleves. Here I see that the world will end via zombie apocolypse.

  • amazing.

  • I love this song so much. I'm afraid I might play it out.

  • is this song saying vegatarians are wrong. . . wots the meaning?

  • Is that kevin drew playing acoustic?

  • Sean Woolven?

  • I heard on indiefeed that kevin drew was involved with them somehow. I'll have to listen again.

  • Omg. Its just. So my kind of music. I think I fell in love with this band. ^ ^

  • What an amazing song.

  • this music feels original!

  • A real buildup vibe going on in this song it seems. The band name is also a cool historical reference.

  • this is my first time coming across this wonderful band.

i must say - this is some of the best music ive heard in a long while. great to know people are still creating beautiful music with genuine feeling.

  • the bass player simon,,

his full name is simon lucaswich.

he's on the upright bass, by the drummer.

he is my bass player and im so proud he is in an amazing band like this.

    and he is amazing.

  • One thing I like about TMSR is how they treat the vocals like another instrument (eg, Tom Yorke), rather than a dominating force, like most other bands of the day.

Stoked for "...And the Ever Expanding Universe" July 14!

  • amazing band very pure and original music

  • I'm not from Canada. But I love this song. So much. It's surely poetic. It's pretty perfect if you ask me.

  • intellectualism.

  • Wow. Really incredible stuff! Awesome instrumentation and the lyrics are poetic and beautiful. Plus I like the video a lot as well. 5/5 stars easily.

  • What I love about this band, and wish more people would appreciate, is that they're doing something a bit 'different' - and doing a damn good job of it. A lot of pop music is formulaic and/or re-hashings of what other people have done before. The Republic are giving me something new, interesting, and beautiful to listen to. Cheers for the post!

  • awesome song, awesome band, enough said.

  • I am SOOOOOOOOOO impressed with the Canadian indie scene, it's become INCREDIBLE in the last couple of years!!!

  • It's always been good.

  • 2000 belongs to canada.

You forgot it in people is probably the best album ill ever own. Ty canada.

  • Just checking out this band. Interesting sound, but I wish I could hear the vocals a little better.

  • ここのレーベルは本当にすごい!

  • my drum teacher is the drummer!

  • the gloria record meets tilly and the wall meets dashboard confessional.

  • The Red Head Guy Is A Cutie!!!

  • beauty

  • i dont know why i got a thumbs down... i was talking about the beauty of the song...

  • if you're into this kind of music arts and crafts is the label for you!

    every artist is solid!

i think Canada takes the cake for Indie music so far hahah

  • oh, by far, i first heard of broken social scene a few years back, then found metric, stars, everyone on the label is amazing! even though metric isnt on a&c. still. all of them are awesome! canada takes the cake, and A&C takes the canadian cake!

  • In my opinion, Canada is runner-up to Sweden.

No nationalistic pride talking, I'm Belgian-American.

  • @dairyproducts canada ahs some sweet bands...arcade fire...tokyo police club..the list goes on!!!

  • @dairyproducts I dunno, Eastern Europe has a pretty good scene going on.

  • interesting. i like it. its a lil slower an softer then my emo/screamo preference

  • So this is Indie music huh.... I think I Like it. This is kinda cute.

  • Alot of the good indie of 2008 is coming from Canada! Most Serene Republic, Arcade Fire, Tokyo Police Club, Tegan and Sara.

  • balls

  • Love these guys. They're quite talented.

  • does anyone know or have any ideas behind the meaning of this video? what it's supposed to symbolize?

  • I vaguely remember reading an article or hearing somewhere that the video was originally going to be based on what happened when Stravinksy, who are a big influence on the band, debuted "The Rite of Spring", when the audience rioted and then the composer made a run for it, but they couldn't quite pull it off, so this is what they ended up making instead.

  • I'll ask my cousin for you :-) He's the drummer xD

  • Who is the woman singing? She's beautiful ...

  • emma ditchburn.

  • my cousin's friend, julia is in this

  • Really? :-) My cousin Tony is in this

  • my cousin is julia

  • Yeah well I'm actually the lead singer, producer, the random church attendant AND the stained glass window all at once. Take that.

  • Whoa, so is my brother Eli in here too

  • What a gorgeous man!!

  • that was epic

  • I'd say... neither.

If you think this sounds like The Arcade Fire, looks like you don't know what you're talking about.

  • I guess I really did seem THAT enthusiastic about them. Good call.

And you live to bust bands' balls? Is that cooler?

  • @pillyreymond I agree, I don't think this sounds like The Arcade Fire, but I saw The Most Serene Republic in concert with Annuals, and Annuals sound a bit like The Arcade Fire

  • @pillyreymond Totally agree, Arcade Fire and The Most Serene Republic dont sound same at all

  • my cousin is in this music video =)

  • rock out guys i love this song so much though

    woho

  • I lo0ve this song!

  • OMG I remember the day they were recording the orchestra that was pretty awsome. The orchesta in this vid was smaller (there is a low brass section)and i didnt know they asked students to be in the vid. Im glad I still have the sheet music they gave us.

  • These guys have such an original sound. I love them.

  • Worlwide

  • Beautifully shot. And theme of the video seems to almost explain why this song is a good choice for a video. It starts out as accessible, then explodes into TMSR's signature sound, which may be a bit much for some tastes. This is a good introduction, but if you want to be "blown away", check out "Present of Future End" or "Solipsism Millionaires".

  • Present of Future End is my favourite song on Population. It's so good.

  • my.most.favourite.band.ever.

  • I love the concept! It turned out great!

  • As soon as anything remotely orchestra shows up, I fall in love. I like this song!

  • Not bad, but I'm just not blown away. Possibly by the next album. Or possibly listening to it without youtube's audio quality would help.

  • genius!

  • cheesy

  • 2nd veiw, awesome, love it <3

  • love the video <3
