Please do not buy into the lie of Betsy Ross as so many have. There is simply no evidence to prove more than the fact that she made flags, but not the first flag! The myth was created a hundred years after the fact and has been exploited by those who wish to capitalize from it. The fact is there is no evidence to back up the claim despite what some might have you believe.
I remember reading about the fact that although Betsy Ross was a flag maker, she very likely did not invent the 1st U.S. flag at all, I use to think she did till I read otherwise and I was like whoa.
@artvisprollc Actually it's the other way 'round. There is no evidence to suggest she did! The whole claim was based upon a lie by her Grandson who wasn't even alive at the time. She made flags, yes (for the PA Navy that we know of for sure). She did not make the first US flag though. Others designed it, and when they were made they did not have the circle of Stars...the Smithsonian, and National Geographic Societies shot these ideas down decades ago!

Perhaps you should view the South Park episode about the history channel and how the lack of proof you mention does not justify correlation.
