Good work Rome Hs, It doesn't matter if the music was played by someone else, When you play it you make it your own and add your style to it. If people got mad when you played their music you'd end up no songs that you could play. But as i said very nice i play 1st trumpet for belding HS in Michigan. I think it would be a blast to do this show, i love the alumni version. Keep up the great stuff.
oh and by the way, the person who helped write our music is our director. who does an absolutley amazing job. you are in no place to criticize or say anything negative about a composer until everyone else sees your band marching your self-composed show.
isn't copying someone like the highest form of flattery anyway? just asking. by copying it we pretty much showed that we thought the show was awesome the way it was and that it didn't need to be changed. if you don't like that its the same, don't watch it. no one's forcing you to. i'm not saying it mean, i'm just saying.
I'm guessing you have a guy to writes your shows..
He show be fired.. I mean it's kinda tacky to just rip off the entire like 03 cadets and sounds like parts of 96 scouts.. Get original ideas.. it sounded great tho but wow i just watched a dumbed down version of like 03 cadets.. even the solo section was just ripped off completely.. and i like how saxophones play it cause you dont have trumpets that can play those notes..
everything sounded good but wow like just compeltely copied. jesus
one question...why are you guys arguing over band? its an extracurricular i understand it gets serious in drum corps and some colleges but most of it is to just have fun..and i know competitions are taken seriously but no reason to fight over band
I just wanted to say that yall had a really good show this past marching season. Im a senior in the Ringgold Marching Band, and I play baritone. Everybody in our band loved yalls show!
why would we screw up 3 times at our 2nd and not our 1st comp. actually our 1st comp. we did a perfect performance [[@ JSU]]. if we had the problem at our 1st comp. it's just because we weren't really watching the DM, but that's not the case. ringgold was there and some of us were, i guess, intimitated. i know when i was playing i didn't care that ringgold was there at all.
well as everyone knows ringgold is our rival band and they were there, so that might've made us tried too hard to play good that we messed up. if you don't know what i mean then forget what i said. why could that be a possible reason? because just think about it, it's our 2nd comp. and not our first.
and don't rate our band if you haven't watched all 3 videos of all 3 competitions.
if you only watch this one and rate it, you made a mistake, because at the compeition(2nd comp. :: 3rd place overall) we had 3 spots in our show where we had precision problems. not a very good show.
"I find it funny how you are so defensive. So far two have and yeah...all of those bad comments were bull-shit that I posted to see what the reaction would be so I could tell the attitude of the band."
-well. that shows the attitude of yours, doesn't it?
Wow, you guys fight a lot. Great job I guess. Makes me glad that McClatchy isn't that big... I couldn't imagine working with that many people. I already have enough trouble with four trumpets :P.
^^ lol, Hunter! I just have to say, awesome as always. RHS band rocks, no matter what anyone else tells u. I just wish that I could have marched with you this season, not last one. :D
and like i said b4 the phasing has been fixed and the drum line is still awesome!..and we will have some more videos on here from later in the season and if we are still on your mind like we obviously are now then check it out and tell us what you think, i'd be more than happy to hear. and since ur talkin' about DCI's and our "dirrty" drum line, just know that more that one person from that "dirrty" drum line" is in a DCI, and even more are trying out for a DCI, and they probably will make it
yea thanks for you criticism...it only makes us better..but our arranger does a phenomical job with all of our arrangements. and why are u talking about balance when the camera is obviously on the right side of the fifty? yea you're gonna hear more of from that side! and maybe you ear is developed but that doenst mean u need to go around downing a band that u have no clue about from a video which was taken EARLY IN THE SEASON! but that performance was good for that early
And yes I'm am sorry I (underline that) phrazed that incorrectly...HAHA!!! I should have said minor phasing problems that reoccur after long-ass holds in the drill...happends to everyone...I don't care who they are, it happens and counts no matter how minor it is...that's why a perfect score is impossible...
yea, you cant accurately tell about our performance in this video, but it actually was pretty good...and there were only 3 minor phasing problems. take it from someone who was actually there! so yea, phasing problems are fixed and we are ready to go. and by the way, percussion is clean as crap! they got first, so they must have been doin somethin pretty well! ill pay any drum line to play that difficulty of music that well. our band still kicks butt and we are 200+ so bring it.
No I probably can't accurately tell, I hate crappy video quality just as much as the next band member. But I can see more phrazing problems then you because I have had more exposure and a more developed ear than you. And again sorry but no; the snare line is suposed to sound like one not 3. And if your being serious please send whatever sum of money you deem appropriate to:
Dude, I go to Milton so I saw all of the performances that day. Rome kicked butt. For you to post crap like that about them is only demonstrative of your own insecurities regarding your band.
I have no insecurities because they don't exist in my band. The larger the likely there will be problems. That's all I'm saying. AND A FELLOW MELLO!!! ALL RIGHT! So wait...do you march with Rome or not? I'm confused.
I find it funny how you are so defensive. So far two have and yeah...all of those bad comments were bull-shit that I posted to see what the reaction would be so I could tell the attitude of the band. And for the record I think ya'll had a great year and I watched every video on here of your season. The drumline just got cleaner and so did the marching. I think the only reason I like smaller band's than 250+ is because of Drum Corps. I dunno. I think they're just cleaner
Um... wow. XD I can't believe I just found this. I'm on the drumline at Warner Robins High School, and were were at Milton, and at your all's competition this past weekend. Zomg mate.
This is why I hate Megabands...they always have MAJOR phrasing problems and they are always on two different tempo's on each side of the field...the drumline is REALLY DIRTY by the way...EXELLENT SOLOISTS!!! I COULD EASILY SEE PROFESSIONAL CARREARS AHEAD!!!
Ok so if our drumline's so "dirty", why'd they get 1st out of 16?
..I'd like to see you explain it.
So our drum line's really good, they're music's really hard, and you're really jealous. Just because they're better than you doesn't mean you have to get all mad about it.
But thanks for the comment on our video. Its nice to know you took time out of your day to watch it.
I hate people who label something DCI when it's not a Drum Corps. And you probably have never even BEEN IN one. The high school I march with was just as big as yours last year but we downsized to 150 this year because that's all that we needed for our show. And I'm SORRY for insulting your band but your arranger took one of my favorite songs and ruined it for me. The song is all about balance and harmony through the chaos...
Our arranger did a GREAT JOB with our songs, If your talking about Ave Maria well get over it! It is pretty hard to play a slow song after you just finished a KICK-BUTT opener...and also if you KNOW you have a KICK-BUTT closer to. Any one who make Malaguena sound that good must be good...DON'T BLAME THE ARRANGER!!Who just happens to be our band director who made us KICK-BUTT at Harleson County!!We WON!! So you need to shove it!!
Ok..so our drumline got best score of the day @ haralson last saturday..out of 18 bands. just thought i'd let you know ;)
considering we're in high school and spend so much time practicing with our high school band, most of us haven't been in a Drum Corps. But I know a couple people from our drumline are.
plus, we would NEVER downsize our band. why? because we like to encourage people to be in it. yeah, its more of a challenge with more people and i think we do an amazing job to have so many. you can still hear flutes in ave maria even though our trumpet line has 32 people. we have a lot of contrast, a lot of good individuals and we're good as a whole. we would never, NEVER tell someone that they couldn't be in our band.
and therefore, we have more people and are proud of the job we do with so many. we all work together, and it shows - at the same time encouraging people to stay in band and showing dedication. just because your band obviously can't doesn't mean you should insult ours. k thanks.
We do...they just don't march...I don't know how it is where ya'll live but in South Carolina Band is almost considered a sport. We almost NEVER hold for more than 4 counts and if we do we only have about two or three just so we can catch our breath and pass out (though on occasion it does happen) We're known as the "Big 16" 5A class bands and it's VERY competitive. We also have about five visuals per song (horn flares and poping them up doesn't count).
and if you consider people passing out as one of the factors in whether or not your band is working, yeah. we do have people pass out at practices. i think we had 3 this year, then wised up and took more water breaks. just because we hold for more than 4 counts doesn't mean anything, we're playing our hearts out the entire show.
whether or not you're breathing hard or you've worked doesn't depend on the amount you march, it depends on how hard you play. and so yeah, maybe we don't march as much as yall's band, but we're just as tired and we've worked just as hard in the end because we've played our hearts out the entire show.
so yeah we're dedicated..yeah we work like crazy..and yeah we're just as good, just as tired, and just as worn out in the end as you are, whether or not you march more. but its all worth it in the end, and anyone of us can agree on that.
I know damn well that everyone works hard but the fact of the matter is. Most people don't. The real thing you get out of marching band and Drum and Bugle Corps is that you know when you step off that field after finals that you gave everything you've got to the crowd, and you're band. What you get out of it is knowing that you wouldn't have spent all of those hard hours out in the 100+ degree sun and 100% humidity day after day for an entire summer any other way.
The one reason I didn't like the arrangement and the ONLY reason is because your director took almost every last note including the snare solo from the Cadets 2003 show...
Is there a problem with that...So what if were defensive it's our band and your "bull-shit" dosent make sense, look at your attitude...
"...hard hours out in the 100+ degree sun and 100% humidity day after day for an entire summer any other way." Don't think thats its only DCI who does that...We did the exact same thing... Almost every band in the nation has to go through that, and it was either worth it or not, depending on the band.
Dude, I said marching band. "...get out of marching band and Drum and Bugle Corps is that..." Come on now I still march in high school and it's just as fucking hot and humid. You don't have salt caking up on you but you still smell like shit after a good practice and you're just as tired. And you're wrong...It's always worth it no matter what.
our show has more emotion - it comes from deeper inside of us than the visual. and even so, we got a 98 and 100 for visuals @ haralson. and i'm pretty sure i'd trust the judge's word over yours anyday. maybe we hold longer than your band does, but we work just as hard and give just as much effort and its just as competitive. don't try to sound superior to everyone you're arguing against.

Okay - so everyone's entitled to their own opinion.

Good luck to all you other bands, thanks for the comments, end of discussion from my end.

soccerrocker991 5 years ago
isn't that the point? you can't just make excuses like that.
thats half the challenge of actually playing well is
to focus and watch the DM. Giving reasons why you didn't,
short of everyone being blind or impaired is just stupid.
the percussion ensemble i'm is going to ohio this april for the world championship.
the band is going to florida next year for a competition.
and the choir went to nyc this year for a competition.

possible explaination for precision problems:
well as everyone knows ringgold is our rival band and they were there, so that might've made us tried too hard to play good that we messed up. if you don't know what i mean then forget what i said. why could that be a possible reason? because just think about it, it's our 2nd comp. and not our first.

people have different opinions.

firstly, i must say you're all faggots for making it such a big deal.
in my area, people in band love it, but seriously you're insulting people on youtube over it.
the show was alright, but honestly, and unbiasedly,
i'd say it'd get a 3/4 stars overall here; my city
used to be huge (airforce base, naval base), but
of the past 15 years, the school population has
dwindled a lot, so its less than 1/2 what it used to be.

Dude, I said marching band. "...get out of marching band and Drum and Bugle Corps is that..." Come on now I still march in high school and it's just as fucking hot and humid. You don't have salt caking up on you but you still smell like shit after a good practice and you're just as tired. And you're wrong...It's always worth it no matter what.

our show has more emotion - it comes from deeper inside of us than the visual. and even so, we got a 98 and 100 for visuals @ haralson. and i'm pretty sure i'd trust the judge's word over yours anyday. maybe we hold longer than your band does, but we work just as hard and give just as much effort and its just as competitive. don't try to sound superior to everyone you're arguing against.
our hearts are in this show and it shows.
make sense? k good.
