i love them. i kiss mine on the nose and lips everyday. i can't help it. i love them sooo much. he is so cute..nothing like them. i would rather have a peke than anything. they are so cute and have such tough guy natures ..very funny,. they are brave and do not back down they are little lions. i am so glad the emperor missed killing the 5 that remained in the palace and i am so glad the english took them home. if i could not have one i would be so hurt.

@uGrizzFanboy lol..bread..well my peke likes to eat mexican food. i remind him he is chinese but he doesn't care. he eats all kinds of food including chinese food too. :)..giggles.

I love my Pekingnese!! I don't know what I did before we had them, they're so loving and are a joy to be around. I highly recommend the breed for anyone looking for a smaller size dog. They do have to be brushed regularly with a slicker brush so they don't get matted. Otherwise what a wonderful friend to cuddle and love. They learn fast and they will play favorites, ya gotta love them though ok ok I'll stop. Can you tell I love my dogs...

These dogs are incredibly smart and have THE best personalities. They're like actual people every one differs. Mine is a total bitch who thinks the world is his oyster but it's truly funny the way he does it :p

I only ever clipped my Peke down when she was older (over 10), as her coat was so incredibly full, especially after she was spayed, that it was absolutely impossible to keep up with. It would literally take an hour and more a day with a couple extra hours a week to get through it. She also started being subject to skin infections that we were having a difficult time clearing up. Under normal circumstances though, emz574, I totally agree --- Pekes should not be clipped.

A Pekes coat should never be cut short, it should be kept long hence the chinese name given 'Lion dog'. Hate seeing these beautiful dogs coat cut short on peoples youtube videos, My old peke was never cut and my 2 puppies wont be either! Beautiful dogs, the best in the world.
