  • Great video. My collecting pet peeves are the same:

    1. Stickers (especially on DS games. Gamestop's tickers make DS games not fit into the DS until you remove them, and sometimes residue stays or you damage cart art trying to get rid of sticker)

    2. Broken Jewel Cases (especially for Sega Saturn & PSOne games) & no offer of markdown from seller/trader

    3. Missing Boxes, Box Art, Manuals (in some cases extras like music CDsand artbooks) for RPGs (RPGs are collector holy grail when complete)

  • biggest pet pev is f'ing resellers. not the stores that buy and sell games, but those bastards you know checked out all the vendors at a flea market just to sell at their space and jack up the price!

  • The cool thing about sport games are they can make good replacement cases and they are cheap! The cover thing is annouing! Stickers SUCK big time. My pet peves are definently stickers/marker and trashed covers , usually on games like ps2 or xbox. A few other things get me but those are the top two!

  • a guy tried to sell me super mario rpg for 50$

  • re sellers can go fuck themselves

  • Yeah all these things are very annoying. One thing that really annoys me is that complete copies of cartridge based games aren't more common. I wish we would held on to that stuff as kids. Also how limited collectors editions or figures and stuff like that can be. Yeah yeah I know thats the point of stuff like that but if you're broke the first week of release or weren't aware it existed when it first came out you'll have to pay ridiculous prices to get it on ebay.

  • Get new copies and you won't have most of these problems.

  • yeah i ha8 sticker 2... i collect RE series and yeah that is very annoying!! :@

  • The only redeeming value of sports games is that you can switch out their cases with broken ones in your collection.

  • my top five

5.When games dont have there covers

    4.Stickers

    3.consoles without cords

2.when people think a game is rare buts its very common

1.when games prices are based on popularitiy

  • you know whats a really big pet peeve when game collecting ripped labels like wtf you couldnt keep the game in good shape lol

  • My god it's like you read my mind. Great video man.

  • AVGN shirt???! by chance? lol

  • no top comment ..... thumbs up for fat gamers

  • dude zelda really is like 15 bucks

  • yea it looks like sports isnt your thing lmao

  • ya was at swap meet yesterday and some guy was selling all nes games for 5$ each, including mario!!! haha, what a joke.

  • Stickers...googone is your friend

  • I agree with your top 3. Especially 2 cause I always spend more for a console with all of its cords over just a system. But I got StarTropics I and II for $5 each so saying that Contra is worht $15 is just ridiculous.

  • majoras mask and n64 is rear

  • fuck sports games.

  • I can't seem to find a group of Genesis games on sale without half of them being sports games. So yeah, they annoy me. And don't get me started on the misuse of "rare". It's the reason I can't seem to touch Contra for less than $20 on eBay even though I've encountered more copies of it than I care to count (just not at the time I happen to be in the market for a copy).

  • i hate those damn stickers too. i can usually peel off the ones they have a eb games (gamestop) as long as they are newer but if they are over top of older stickers with old prices, good luck. i also find those transparent circular stickers they use to seal the used games when you buy them are useful for removing leftover residue from stickers (as long as its just the gooey part left and no paper). i also agree about sports games, but i would buy games like mutant league hockey

  • Here is mine:

    5. Having to deal with duplicates of games you already have.

    4. Getting cartridges that need cleaning.

    3. Horrible scratches on handheld systems, especially for Gameboy Advance SP.

    2. The rarity of original packaging for games.

    1. THOSE FUCKING STICKERS!!!

  • I'm with you on Number 1. I hate people who misuse the word 'rare'. Also, people who put L@@K in their listings... just stop. It doesn't make people look unless they were going to anyway. Douches.

  • lol black noob.

  • 100% agreed I collect too.

  • Agreed sports games take the piss

  • yes man i dont understand why they put the damn stickers on the labels expeically the blockbuster titles how in the hell can you read what game you have over the blockbuster sticker

  • Marker on games. Also when they charge too much for a common game like literally 23 for mario/duckhunt

  • nice AVGN shirt!

  • Yeah, I love sports, but most of the old sports games are less than worthless. Way too many Maddens, Montanas, and NBA games.

  • i love sports games and sports period and always loved video games XD both awesome and goo gone fixes stickers and makers too

  • play n trade is a good store but they overprice the good games. mario 3 for 20 bucks wtf. golden eye for 27. majoras for 50!!! and they always put the stickers on the back of the games on the nintendo sticker

  • my god i hate sports games. when i go to thrift stores all the have is genisis sport games

  • i went to a pheonix games store near my house once and they were selling final fantasy 7 for $100! it wasn't even sealed or anything and i asked to see the discs and they had a couple of scratches on them the case wasn't that good either that store blows!!

  • the most annoying thing ive found is when you buy a game on ebay or wher-ever & it looks like its in good condition , u pay a fair price & then the seller sends it without taking any care in packaging ,, & it gets all fuck'd up in the post ,, ohh & also finding writing in the manuals piss's me off ,,, ohh & when they state "minnor scratches on disks but plays" ,,, but really it wont play when u get half way in the game.

  • I agree man, I have ran into literally dozens of gold zeldas in the past and I won't touch them for more then like 3 or 4 dollars, Contra on the other hand is not rare either, but if you have the box and manual with it, then you might have something, still not rare though.

  • I went to a flea market 3 weeks ago for 7 euro 50 (10$ give or take) I got a Sega Master System , Phantasy Star III, Elemental Master & 2 other less rare games. Was a really good deal although ... fucking the cords for the Sega Master System were wrong... lol

  • i hate when there is no cover, when its not in an original box, or there is stickers or anything like that on it too. i dont know what it is. It really bothers me, im not even a collector just the xbox 360 and ps3 games

  • I come across sellers trying to say that zelda is the "rare gold version" What a joke! The grey carts are harder to find than gold. Some guy was trying to sell original gameboy games for $20 each and NES titles (all commons) up to like $70!

  • remember channel 52?

  • My pet peeve is for old CD games, where they were sold used and the game store marked a black "P" on the game manual and disc. There are some methods to remove thes marks but they're not always practical.

  • whats with the games that are in the gold cart? i remeber i had one once but it wasnt zelda i think was there more?

  • @HospitalWaste yeah a company called Camerica that made gold unliscenced games as well.

  • @echo036 im just getting into collecting bud but i subbed you, you should sub me back. I might be starting to get into posting pickup videos when im back in canada.

  • @HospitalWaste I also think that the rare special edition of punch out was gold, not positive on that. But I know its worth money!!

  • Personally, the worst is permanent marker on the actual label of a game.

  • You're right, they're not rare. They are sought after. Regardless, Legend of Zelda and Contra, to the average fan trying to resuscitate their childhood retro, will pay $10-15 each.

  • I pretty much agree with your entire list. Those are annoying when we are collecting these games.

  • Gotta love the people that call gold Zelda rare...or think it's worth more cuz it's gold.

  • @damienmetalwind epecially the ones that try to sell it to you for $20

  • AVGN SHIRT !!

  • There's one thrift in my area that, if you find the console, and it has no cables... odds are the cables are strung with the other wall warts and loose controllers. I had to track down all the bits to the NES Top Loader I found there, but I got it all.

It's not quite as bad as the 'where's the cables', but it's a bit annoying.

  • i went to good will i found a stack of nes games

    8 were sports games

and 2 were super mario bros. / duckhunt......

it is true super mario bros. / duckhunt is the most common game there is

  • I hate it when the seller has a blury picture and say's mint condition only to find the box is all crshed and faded in the sun.

  • I know exactly what you mean. Theres this store in the mall selling mario kart 64 for 59.99!

  • @SuperQwerty90210 Damn, not even factory sealed, and even then i don't think i would pay that.

  • @echo036

Shave ten dollars off, keep the original shrinkwrap on and I'd get it.

  • @SuperQwerty90210 wow it should be around at least 15 but 60 is too much

  • I absolutely HATE stickers on my games, I feel ya dude !

  • i seen a mike tyson punchout for $90 yes that right $90 for it loose cart average condition.

  • once on a flea market there was a guy selling n64 games for 4€ each and so i wanted to buy super mario64 and he was like: "the mario games are 12€ each"..i mean only because it´s mario doesn´t mean it has to be more expensive

  • cool video

i hate resellers especially when they get good stuff and resell it

  • nice one i saw you on alex channel subbed

  • @Cerbethys thanks!!

  • Those are good pet peeves. I loved playing NBA Jam back in the day! I wish they would release it on Xbox Live Arcade. Gamestop is notorious for selling used games without the cover. And I know what you mean about people selling consoles only. It's frustrating finding a cheap console on Craigslist and the like, only to find out that they are selling the system without any cables whatsoever.

  • just got a virual boy for 4 bucks complete at a thrift store but no games

  • That rare thing is also my No. 1.

there not rare, there "IN DEMAND"

    >: {

  • Very well said echo, I can agree with a lot of what you said.

I know with most Retro Gaming collectors especially Atari, Genesis, NES labels with all the stickers, faded, ripped etc really pisses me off big time!

Another peeve with me is how shady a**holes on Craig's List and eBay sellers claim a lot of what they sell is rare when it's so common you go to other sites and the price difference is mind boggling.

  • Seeing Chrono Trigger in stores for $80 loose it's hardly rare. A great game but you shouldn't have to pay more than $40-$50 for one.

  • I agree with you that popular does not equal rare.

  • my main pet peev is that i won 5 copies of alladin CIB lmao

  • @RetroBasement where did you win those from?

  • @echo036 just iver the years in my cib collecting i always seem to end up with them its bullshit btw do u ever go on nintendoage?

  • I was just thinking sports games as my pet peeve. There worthless. I hate all this too, i also hate any PC games that i see in thrift stores. A lot of times the workers at goodwill will seperate cords from systems and put them out at different times in different spots.

  • @GreenJanuary why do they separate the cords from the systems? That's stupid. I guess it's so they can sell everything separate and make more money, but i would rather pay a little more and have the complete system.

  • @echo036 Good question. I think its because they have a different sections for systems and cords. I havent found anything in the past month and may quit shopping there soon

  • your on =the spot good o great video keep it up

  • I agree with all of this except you can't blame sports titles for only being "good" for the current year. Sport games demand realism (usually).

    Very good points. What about...

    * Stores that have games behind the counter so you have to ask for help to look at all of the titles. The clerk usually acts like you are bothering them!

    * Sellers who think that CD games are in great condition when clearly they're not. If I can see a scratch, it's not great! (my personal #1)

  • @SnapCraft316 I hate having to ask people for stuff in a display case, especially when it has a lock on it and they have to get someone with the keys, but you're right they look at you as if you asked them to give you free games.

  • Haha yeaah. I got Zelda for 99 cents plus a few bucks shipping on ebay.

  • great vid i agree with all of that... i tried to buy mega man legends 1 and 2 at a flee market and they wanted $40 for each. thats rediculas i wouldnt pay $40 for both of them!

  • @guitaristdude0 That's a crazy ass price. My flea market will jack up prices on any game with Mario in it.

  • I totally agree with you!

  • @Nintendogeek95 I hear ya. It just sucks when they put stckers or mark the game labels. When i bought my Master System it had a big Turbo Graphix 16 sticker on it, didn't even make sense why someone stuck that on there.

  • gee, i wonder what the back of that shirt says (sarcasm)...

  • @TheGameBoys123 haha... AVGN baby!!!!

  • @valdez909 $30 dollars! For that price it better come in an almost new box and manual, and even then i would try haggle it down to $20.

  • i try not to think of the peeves that are related to video game collecting because some do aggravate me. the stickers and multiple stickers, things like that i avoid. sicne i dont really collect games that have been recycled to much i rarely run into ones i cant clean. and the ones i do happen to buy at goodwill or where ever go up for trade pretty fast. thanks for the vid !

  • @vinnieblacklodge I'll make a top 5 things i love about collecting video just to balance it out, i'll make that my next video. I'll credit you with the idea, thanks my good man.

  • @echo036 lol kool ill make a tag to that one

  • permanent marker - if someone really wants to steal your game........... marker is not stopping them -rollseyes-

  • @n64player9 i can see it now, a robber breaks into a house, and tries to steal the games, but is foiled by the names written in permanent marker.

  • for the one with the insert, it happened to me that i had game my dog pissed on the box and i had to threw the insert out so maybe thats why people dont have it :D

  • @cQnne Yeah that makes sense, but what gets me is when they have a stack of 15 to 20 games, and all of them are loose discs.

  • @echo036 yea i hate it too, it is too hard to print the insert or buy new for 2$

  • Oh God! Removing those stickers is harder than trying remove a band-aid from Chewbacca's ass!

Nothing worst than an idiot who tries to sell something he knows nothing about!

Outstanding video dude. I think I might make one of these myself.

  • @jbinminot and the worst ist if someone removes it but its still sticky :(

  • @cQnne Nah I gotta disagree. The worst is when you tear off a piece of the label with the sticker. I hate that! I think storeowners do that just to be mean

  • @jbinminot Store owners have to use common sense when it comes to stickers, why even put it on the label, it blocks customers from seeing what game it is.

  • @jbinminot When i bought my Sega Master System it had a big Turbo Graphix 16 stcker on, it was hell trying to get it all off. You should totally make a vid!

  • You know what I hate? when there is a cover missing from a console. Like my N64 the bottom cover wasn't there when I got it :(

  • @campervan25 Aw man, did a thief come in disarm the system and steal the bottom cover only. It makes it a hassle.

  • I know what you mean, someone wrote their name on my copy of millipede 5 times with a marker and carved their name in it twice with a knife. WTF? I also like all the "RARE" and "SUPER RARE" copies of super mario/duck hunt on ebay and craigs list.

  • @BlueberryBurrito Carved with a knife!? Why do people do that, it's not like your going to have a better chance of getting it back if someone steals it. I like the "rare" copy of Super Mario 3 i saw on craigslist for $15.

  • #2, I get the opposite. I always find the game cases with the cover, but the game and the manual are missing. One time this vendor had a bunch of game cases and they were all filled with porn.

  • @freeloader410 i also hate it when think you found a good game, and inside the case is a different game.
