did you know that this song was written about me. well no it wasnt but the foo fighters last 3 albums have been. dont believe me? i have proof. press see all and read my 2 comments posted below to find out why. i am not lying. honest. regards from south wilmot tasmania.
i came up with a theory that involves the book of genesis (fig leaves) buddha (sitting under the bodhi fig tree) jesus (many sayings about figs) ross horne's book (new health revolution) and science (figs are the most important source of food for fruit eating rainforest animals). i then experimented on the figs by eating mainly dried figs (same brand) for over 6 years now and found cycles which i related to the numbers in psgs 11/12 of the book of revelations. this theory has gone everywhere.
so far i have had eliminations at days 504, 840, 1176, 1512, 1848, 2184, and expect my 7th at day 2520. today is day 2346. i have definitely found something. i am not lying. what i have discovered has gone around the world and many songs have been written about it....the foo fighters last 3 albums...."vertigo" by U2 (my first name is phil)...coldplay's last 2 albums. an elimination is a day when you experience strong flu-like symptoms and feel terrible. bad stuff is washed out of your body.
Fuck I must be getting old....I watched MTV top 20 the other day and could not believe the shit that passes as music. I thought I was young and hip - guess not. EIGHTIES FOREVER!
One of the greatest songs in the history of australian music. Music will never be this good again because it was a song if the times. Those times are now gone.
Nothing can replace songs from this era. They play them again and again, not surprised if the are still played in 30 years time. Whereas anything that comes from the 90's+ has roughly a month shelf life, and within the year its forgotton and never played again. The musicians from this era (50's,60's,70's and 80's), needed to know how to sing, and play and instrument, whereas the talentless bums that they churn out now, all they know how to do is mime, the computer does the rest.
Saw them in Mandurah, WA at the pen around 1990/91, and did Eagle Rock at the end, everyone sceaming at the top of there lungs, especially after we had a couple of j's.
OMG; 1:32 dude looks like Gordon Ramsey. Mostly this song reminds me of having a tricky time living in Chatswood, Sydney 2001-2. Those sort of people did improve my discipline and manners; but haven't got much since most of them are too stressed to enjoy anything, let alone try new things out.
Love your comment libertyordeaf...what a sad indictment on todays music scene. These young kids on Idol are nuthin but wannabes..they want their 5 mins of fame, and hopefully thats all theyll get. Like everything else today, theyll be forgotten in a heartbeat...long live the real musicians!!
Ironic that someone on Australian Idol should be complaining about other eras not being "interesting". That show is custom-made for the ADHD generation.
Fame comes to cheap and easy these days, dude. Once upon a time a singer or a muso would have had to work their way up through the pub scene. They would have looked up to someone like Ross Wilson, Billy Thorpe or even that showpony Mark Holden, maybe even learned something from them. Not now though, it's a five-minute audition, get your bollard on TV and you're a "star". Ego essential, talent optional, respect not required.
I'm 15, I'm not nessecarily a young punk but i've had my moments and I love this music, wax, peter gabriel, cold chisel. it's all so great, but i agree the sky is falling because of my generation, most of these fuckwit tv presenters are trying to advertise to them because they "relate" by being young...or looking like it (FUCKING POSERS)
@mahoganybasswood Try Australian Crawl/james Reyne,Icehouse,Cold Chisel,Midnight Oil,Men at work,Eurogliders,Dragon,Redgum,John Farnham,Split Enz(NZ),Mental as Anything>Check ARIA charts or Countdown clips...............
Ross Wilson is a pop genius. This is a great example of great pop ! He also produced the iconic Aussie band Skyhooks in the 70's and was the lead singer of Daddy Cool who that the Aussie classic hit Eagle Rock.
Me three.....CSTBoy is still a US teen summer No 1 waiting to happen...his catalogue is heavy with pop great hooks.....but it doesn't really matter, cos at least 10 million+ Aussies already know he's a pop genius !!!!
nzoz1981....Your A Legend!!! Thanks heaps for this one. Where the bloody hell did you find a film clip of this song? Did you have it on VRC or somthing lol! But seriously this song is still way cool even now.
suspectdevice71, I was wondering if you happened to be shearing sheep in Western Austraila at the same time that famed Dr. Charles Follen McKim Maloney, Scottish psychiatrist. was giving Mondo Rock private hot air balloon lessons?
lol, yes. 'Eagle Rock' stands high very well - although Cold Chisel's 'Khe Sanh' is a very good contender. Unfortunately, John Farnham's 'You're The Voice' remains Australia's most overrated song.
Since this video is quickly becoming popular, I think I might recommend you guys to check out Mondo Rock's first single 'The Fugitive Kind' from 1978 (found on my nzoz1978 account) and other Mondo Rock singles. Also, try Daddy Cool's 'Eagles Rock' and 'Come Back Again'.
Oh God, it does have a Cars-feel to it! The beginning sounds like 'Just What I Needed'. I never noticed that. This song still gets regular play on commercial radio over here in Australia and I suppose over the years, one gets so used to the tune that he/she fails to notice these things.
Check out their other singles - most on YouTube... you might be able to identify other similarities.

A bollard is one of those large steel things at a port that you tie a ship to. Also a slang term for someone's head.

from Webster's dictionary of American English 2009 : -noun- a post of metal or wood on a wharf around which to fasten mooring lines
