  • @asylum0001 hey young mate i like yr way of thinkin, get into it son old school aussie rock is where its at

  • One of my favourite songs :)

  • Ross Boss.

    Mondo Magik.

  • 11 when this came out. Can still sing it word for word.

  • I broke more 2B sticks on the ride bell covering this song than I want to remember...

would I do it all again?

    You bet!

    Rock on!

  • NZOZ your the best thing to happen to Australian music, since Countdown..

  • @seaeagles64 thank you.. I was hoping my channels give a 'countdown' feel, with less of the Molly rants and a broader showcase of Aussie/Kiwi music.

  • @seaeagles64 Yep. +1

  • Replay button ftw!!

  • @Spoonywoman I think I'm having the same problem too... nzoz must be upset again!

  • Wish they had played this shit in America. Great song.

  • @JWcolour Like that? Then try searching Cold Chisel (Bow River for starters) and the classics like Australian Crawl and divinyls (Boys in town). Also, a classic is Men at Work - Overkill. An absolute classic. There are so many. Growing up here was AWESOME. :)

  • Mondo Rock, very cool back in the day 1979-81 and beyond when I have seen them.. Just as good live as their sound in the studio, and actually better live!!

  • 30'years young timeless

  • this is a great song

  • Shit... 30 years old!

  • @figbat1, ru sure your only eating figs ?

  • enjoyed all these songs at the prospecthill hotel in kew many years ago

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhh............ real music....

  • this is called bait and switch, pathetic!

  • CAN YOU FIND MY HIDDEN COMMENTS?

    PRESS SEE ALL.

  • i came up with a theory that involves the book of genesis (fig leaves) buddha (sitting under the bodhi fig tree) jesus (many sayings about figs) ross horne's book (new health revolution) and science (figs are the most important source of food for fruit eating rainforest animals). i then experimented on the figs by eating mainly dried figs (same brand) for over 6 years now and found cycles which i related to the numbers in psgs 11/12 of the book of revelations. this theory has gone everywhere.

  • First time I ever snuck into a nightclub it was with my mum (lame) and we saw Mondo Rock! COOL!!!!!! God help me I was only 16!

  • Ross is a freeekin' legend...thanx Ross....

  • Fuck I must be getting old....I watched MTV top 20 the other day and could not believe the shit that passes as music. I thought I was young and hip - guess not. EIGHTIES FOREVER!

  • One of the greatest songs in the history of australian music. Music will never be this good again because it was a song if the times. Those times are now gone.

  • i watched these boys only recently at clipsal adelaide...now i love it !

  • Nothing can replace songs from this era. They play them again and again, not surprised if the are still played in 30 years time. Whereas anything that comes from the 90's+ has roughly a month shelf life, and within the year its forgotton and never played again. The musicians from this era (50's,60's,70's and 80's), needed to know how to sing, and play and instrument, whereas the talentless bums that they churn out now, all they know how to do is mime, the computer does the rest.

  • @RedTyrian Here, here too true

  • saw them at the telstra 500 sydney this year, still got it,still love the music.

  • What a landmark sound and writing talent ! songs this good transend you right back to the place you first heard them every time !

  • This shit is gold... Amazing how everything just fits.. sound, lyrics, the works...

nutha great hit there NZOZ :)

  • isnt anything better <3

  • ross wilson did'nt have to go on a talent show to get noticed.

  • my 22nd wife used 2 rape me to this song in the 80s.

  • Very true lyrics !! I wish more artists these days would have the guts to write lyrics like this

  • yeah how did you know mine is a cruel world? So right but thanks for trying to snap me out of it & release me lol. Love Mondo Rock, yes you rock!

  • Saw them in Mandurah, WA at the pen around 1990/91, and did Eagle Rock at the end, everyone sceaming at the top of there lungs, especially after we had a couple of j's.

  • I love this song, amazing, and that's a 14 year olds view.

Dont make music like this anymore.

  • OMG; 1:32 dude looks like Gordon Ramsey. Mostly this song reminds me of having a tricky time living in Chatswood, Sydney 2001-2. Those sort of people did improve my discipline and manners; but haven't got much since most of them are too stressed to enjoy anything, let alone try new things out.

  • The 'Boss' in his let's be relevant period...luv it!

  • wow good song

  • love the 80s music the music in the 80s was all about growing up an life in general

  • the best song of the 80's ever, say's an old timer like me at 40,ha,ha.

  • @Bresignda

    haha lol!!!

  • haha lol agree.

But gosh this song is so damn good. Love it!

i was lucky enough to see him in concert at"Countdown" Love it ! Listening to this just brings back great memories.

  • Excellente!

  • Ross rox...in 2010...

  • Your world is as cold as ice

    Your world is so nice...

  • no chicken, seeya

    u r boring me

    stop asking stupid questions

  • chicken , i dont watch that crap (ie oz idol)

  • @themoz3 so were u in his band?

  • takes you back,please someone invent a time machine,ha,ha.

  • Failed to break into your 'cool world'.

  • @themoz3 so you were on oz idol i take it and he didnt like u???

  • Is it almost 30 years?

    My God!

    What a classic!!

This could still take on the world big time.

    Beautiful piece!!!!!

    Cheers!!!!!

  • c o o l

  • Love your comment libertyordeaf...what a sad indictment on todays music scene. These young kids on Idol are nuthin but wannabes..they want their 5 mins of fame, and hopefully thats all theyll get. Like everything else today, theyll be forgotten in a heartbeat...long live the real musicians!!

  • i always thought he was singing cruel world ,

  • are you serious? Ross Wilson programming rage? I never thought that would ever happen.

  • did anyone see that talentless bitch on Idol 2 weeks ago who told Wilson his era wasn't interesting???

    I hope she dies

  • oh dear... somebody actually said that. What a moron.

  • Ironic that someone on Australian Idol should be complaining about other eras not being "interesting". That show is custom-made for the ADHD generation.

  • AMEN - if i could give u 10 thumbs up i would.

Ross took it cool "Yeah thats OK thats OK" But its not Ok - the blonde bimbo who is nothing more than a karaoke singer told a legend he is boring!

Fuck me the sky is falling i cant take too much more of the attitude of these young punks!

    FUCK YOU PUNKS !!!!

  • Fame comes to cheap and easy these days, dude. Once upon a time a singer or a muso would have had to work their way up through the pub scene. They would have looked up to someone like Ross Wilson, Billy Thorpe or even that showpony Mark Holden, maybe even learned something from them. Not now though, it's a five-minute audition, get your bollard on TV and you're a "star". Ego essential, talent optional, respect not required.

  • You are a poet - that is spot on dude -

personally i prefer living in the past - than god for internet.

  • For us Americans not versed in Oz slang, what is a 'bollard'?

  • A bollard is one of those large steel things at a port that you tie a ship to. Also a slang term for someone's head.

  • Thank you for clearing that up.

  • @ tgear77

from Webster's dictionary of American English 2009 : -noun- a post of metal or wood on a wharf around which to fasten mooring lines

  • I'm 15, I'm not nessecarily a young punk but i've had my moments and I love this music, wax, peter gabriel, cold chisel. it's all so great, but i agree the sky is falling because of my generation, most of these fuckwit tv presenters are trying to advertise to them because they "relate" by being young...or looking like it (FUCKING POSERS)

  • @asylum0001 Well said mate!

  • @mallamoozoo Just because he tried to root my sister in the ABC countdown studios

    Whats youre propblem

  • @mallamoozoo Here here , what a fucking twit ! bring back the real talent !

  • @DocBrewster

Just shows how self centred some people can be, as if nothing exists outside of their own little ptach of the world.

  • @DocBrewster What was she- a Trolop?

  • Ahh I loved this song..

  • So many good songs....go Mondo

  • nice

    thanks

  • they actually filmed it in a pool at like 4.00am and it was FREEZING

  • nice song!!!

  • they really should have all jumped into the swimming pool at the end

  • with their instruments....

  • Classic.

Just reminds me of sitting in the back of my parents car on long car trips.

  • thank god!

  • In the tunnel deep and wide!!! Oooooh errr!

  • 80s was great hey - 'Cool World'

then along came 'Global Warming' in the 90s

where has all the fun gone?

  • Ross will break into your cool world, I on the other hand will break into your house and steal one sock out of all of your pairs.

  • I noticed you broke into my house last night but I was unperturbed. You see, I only have one leg so you made life easier. Bless you.

  • With great songs like this , its no wonder the 80's was the best era for music ever.

  • So many cool cool Aussie songs in this era imo: Dragon' "Rain", The Church' "Unguarded Moment", INXS' "Don't Change"...

    Anybody else recommend others?

  • go through all my nzoz channels... that's the way the find out all you need to know and more.

  • @nzoz1981 you deserve to be PM for all your sterling efforts mate. Keep up the great work. Love all your stuff!

  • @mahoganybasswood Try Australian Crawl/james Reyne,Icehouse,Cold Chisel,Midnight Oil,Men at work,Eurogliders,Dragon,Redgum,John Farnham,Split Enz(NZ),Mental as Anything>Check ARIA charts or Countdown clips...............

  • @mahoganybasswood DRAGON = NZ

  • didn't Daddy Cool have a song called "baby let me bang your box" ?

  • ha ha ha yep, what a classic

  • so very sorry to be corrected NUOVO MONDO

  • Nuevo Mondo, great album bought it in 81 still not a scratch geat memories, nothing like watching and hearing a classic vinyl play

  • Ross Wilson is a pop genius. This is a great example of great pop ! He also produced the iconic Aussie band Skyhooks in the 70's and was the lead singer of Daddy Cool who that the Aussie classic hit Eagle Rock.

Thanks for all the great music Ross !!

  • Me three.....CSTBoy is still a US teen summer No 1 waiting to happen...his catalogue is heavy with pop great hooks.....but it doesn't really matter, cos at least 10 million+ Aussies already know he's a pop genius !!!!

  • Beccy Cole made a country cover of this song, didn't she???

  • hey ive met ross wilson he is the father of someone at my school

  • who fucking cares

  • calm down. Richay just wants to share a little fact with us.

It's not like we care that you masturbate to this song, yet you that doesn't stop you from letting us know.

  • lol

  • i always masturbate to this song thanks heaps

  • Hahaha cool.

  • LOL thanks for sending, I don't tend to listen to 80s music, except for Whitney of course LOL.

This ain't too bad, there isn't tons of echo like loads of 80s music but this was done at the beginning of the decade =D

The video is pretty funny lol

  • nzoz1981....Your A Legend!!! Thanks heaps for this one. Where the bloody hell did you find a film clip of this song? Did you have it on VRC or somthing lol! But seriously this song is still way cool even now.

  • suspectdevice71, I was wondering if you happened to be shearing sheep in Western Austraila at the same time that famed Dr. Charles Follen McKim Maloney, Scottish psychiatrist. was giving Mondo Rock private hot air balloon lessons?

  • lol, yes. 'Eagle Rock' stands high very well - although Cold Chisel's 'Khe Sanh' is a very good contender. Unfortunately, John Farnham's 'You're The Voice' remains Australia's most overrated song.

Men At Work's 'Down Under'? Disowned!

  • Since this video is quickly becoming popular, I think I might recommend you guys to check out Mondo Rock's first single 'The Fugitive Kind' from 1978 (found on my nzoz1978 account) and other Mondo Rock singles. Also, try Daddy Cool's 'Eagles Rock' and 'Come Back Again'.

    Ross Wilson is cool!

  • lol...what?

  • Great stuff. Kinda reminded me of The Cars in the beginning.

    Peace~~~Rod

  • Oh God, it does have a Cars-feel to it! The beginning sounds like 'Just What I Needed'. I never noticed that. This song still gets regular play on commercial radio over here in Australia and I suppose over the years, one gets so used to the tune that he/she fails to notice these things.

Check out their other singles - most on YouTube... you might be able to identify other similarities.

  • Buenisima...Me encanta...!!!!!!!
