She's right, the problem with working out differences when it comes to religious fanatics like muslim fundamentalists is that we can't agree on basic reading of reality - therefore everything we extrapolate from our different versions will differ (how to behave individually and as a whole etc).
Before we can bridge the gap we need to establish some of us have a reasonable reading of the world, based on evidence, and some have a deluded, plain wrong reading of it derived from some ancient text.
