  • bad ... fucking ... ass.

  • The Ennio Morricone music was a good touch!

  • I love the background music from the Big Gundown .............

  • Looking good! When does it come out??

  • Many people really do hate the police, that is not as it should be, but, will always Respect the California Highway Patrol.

  • question when i was in high school i was already 18 and i got pulled over with out a license, can that affect me, im trying to become a CHP also a J Walking ticket but that it

  • I GET THE CHILLS EVERTIME I HEAR THEM CHANT!! CHP IS AWESOME ONE DAY, LORD WILLING I WILL BE A CALIFORNIA HIGHWAY PATROLMAN!!

  • @xiceman08x

    Please.

  • like enjoying the entire edition regarding that video from avatz, net change , to .

  • All the best for the current cadets classes.

To all the CHP Officers....have a good and safety work.

    Hoorah for the CHP !

    Best regards from Germany,

    Dominik

  • My uncle graduated this year =)

  • The PAT alone weeds out alot not because it is hard but because most are still young and immature and not ready for boot camp type yelling from officers on site. I went in beginning of 2010 for my PAT it was the most fun ever. My recommendation for you younger guys under 21 go military police first so when you get out and have that under your belt your still younger then most other recruits.

  • @wdwsurfer

Hi, I have a qestion, what if I am 23 did not go to the mlitary but got my B.S. in Sociology Law and Society this past june 2010. What recommendations would you have for me. Right now the testing is suspended until further notice but will wait until it opens up again Thank you.

  • @AMERICA12345678

keep working, making good decisions, do some community service, make yourself marketable. Why should the CHP hire you over the other 200+ candidates? that's the question you want to keep in mind! remember MAKE YOURSELF MARKETABLE. MAKE THE CHP WANT YOU!!

  • Looks killer! You guys have some serious skill!

  • I miss Broderick Crawford. Probably none of these young cadets know who he is. Good luck to all the cadets.

  • I am an explorer, and its tough. I am going to the academy for 8 days in the summer and I have been training since April. And I still have to train more, especially on push-ups. They are my weakness. But the job is rewarding. I know this because being an explorer is rewarding.

  • @GameHead313 Hey im going to... During July Right? Its the Level 3 training. What Post are u out of. Im from 650

  • hey im going to graduate this year form high school and ill like to be a highway patrol but i dont know what i need or what do i have to do if someone can giveme some options or some answer ill be glad ..... thanks alot

  • About 7 weeks prior to graduation, you fill out a "Dream Sheet" of open offices needing officers. You find out your duty station about a week later. For 6 weeks, plus one full week after graduations, you make living arrangements. Just part of the job...

  • You get a "Dream Sheet" about 7 weeks prior to graduation. About a week later, you find out your duty station. For 6 weeks (on weekends) plus a week after graduation you look for living arrangements. Been like this for over 75 years. It is stresseful, but cadets are able to make the changes....

  • its not stressful and not that hard either. although the D.I is yelling in peoples faces. it is fun and gives you a taste of what the academy will be like in a much lighter sence i would immagine...

  • Is the PAT pretty stressful....i.e. D.I. type yelling in your face just for the Test?

  • @Durren133 Hey the PAT is JUST a test. They don't yell at you, they are encouraging you and pushing you but will never get in your face. Also if you have tinted windows or a little rice rocket or something... WALK to the PAT because they give tickets right in the parking lot. XD Good luck out there bro and I will see you at the next one in August!

  • Hiring has ceased for the next 2 years due to budget

  • Even though they don't wear hats often, I'm glad the CHP switched to campaign covers years ago. They look better than the old ones. Better protection against the sun too (which was a major reason for the change).

  • everyone applying hang in there. its the best job in the world. the wait can be long to go to the academy but its diffrent for everyone. when you go just don't quit...

  • How hard is the physical part at the academy? I'm currently an explorer waiting for my time to apply.

  • its hard, because its supposed to be. the run is 4-5 mi. everyday with about 30 min pt before the run. where are you an explorer at?

  • if your serious, you ought to step up to the plate and ask someone.

  • i was an explorer for post 801 inland division san bernardino...i was one of the first 8 explorers to be stationed at a state division building....good luck to you explorer cadet...what rank are you and what area are you from...???

  • i have been there its fun and the skid pan is amazing pluse the high speed

  • i had gotten to visit the academy back in 2001 during the western regional explorer conference... my post had only come in first for the tug of war competition, which was pretty shameful to say the least, but it was an awsome experience and a privlage to be on the same grounds where so many men and women earn their right to that shield on their chest...

  • I was in this video and graduated with this class. FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE WONDERING IF YOU SHOULD CALL YOUR B.I., DO NOT CALL. THERE ARE MANY APPLICANTS AND THEY ARE BACKED UP. IF THEY HAVEN'T CALLED YOU, IT MIGHT BE A GOOD THING. MAKE SURE YOU ARE WORKING OUT..at least 2 miles, 100 sit ups/push ups, 5 pull ups (three times a week) Hang in there. No need to rush, the time will come.

  • I've been working on all that. Hey, you got a crystal ball on how long after my psych interview they might send an invite? It's the last thing I have to do and I'm wondering if they still might have me lined up for dec. class or maybe not till march? How much notice did they give you before your first academy day? would appreciate any info you might be able to share.

  • Calhills

same here. But with budget cuts, am guessing we might get pushed back to summer.

  • 100 push ups? I use to be in such great shape and was never able to accomplish 100 push ups, most i ever did was 45. I couldn't imagine doing 100. Thanks for serving and protecting us!

  • ElBonefacio, where are you in this class? I'd like to look it up in the public records or at least see you in the video.

Where is your station? Anyway, I think its cool you gave some good physical advice; but for the service exam in its whole isn't it something like 1/100 get in? The cost to the state is like $60K/US, isn't it?

  • @ElBonefacio thanks for the info i live on the grapevine, and i am Hopeful that i will get stationed here or close by.but i would like to ask how hard was the physical part for the 6 months?

  • @ElBonefacio When did you graduated froem CHP Academy?

  • @ElBonefacio So then waht happends if I don't work out, I want to go but I have no time to work out I can berly do 3 push ups.

  • @santoroyerdeantorcha then you are screwed. trust me. im an explorer and we go through the academy for 1 week. we r going in july for 8 days. i have been training since april and still need to get into shape.

  • @santoroyerdeantorcha Hey man dont worry about it. Just start doing alot of body weight training like push ups, sit ups, crunches, pull ups, etc.. btw im going to the level 3 training at the academy in july too

  • @ElBonefacio hey just to know... im going to graduate this year form high school and i want to be a high way patrol but i dont know what do i need or what do i have to do if you can give me some options ill be glad ... thanks

  • @ElBonefacio Just curious as to when my 2 year window close. Is it from the date I first applied, or from when I was conditionally hired? Thanks

  • @ElBonefacio that sure helped a lot ima start doing that now cause i also want be a CHP

  • @ElBonefacio I look up to you guys. Im 15 and my dream is to become a CHP. I hope one day i can stand among the best and be a proud member of the CHP. I know Im still young but I want this so bad. I hope one day in the future to graduate from the academy and come home to family and proudly say that I am a California Highway Patrol Officer.

  • I hear a high rate of military pass the academy and the college guys can not make it. It is easy to obtain a basic bachelor degree in basic subjects. The military grads can use there brain and do the pys. work. Go go MILITARY!!!!!

  • Yea but 27 weeks is way longer and than any basic training our military has. I heard its mostly mental

  • I applied back in February but my background investigator said she won't be able to get me in until Feb. of 2010. So I'm pretty much done with the hard stuff: Written test & QAP...just have to finish my background investigation.

I've never been in the military but I think my bachelor's degree helped out substantially to get me this far.

Some advice for others after you pass your written: Study the CHP website extensively for your QAP. Know they do more than just cut tickets, lol.

  • *sigh* One more year... I'm getting very nervous.

I've been an outstanding explorer, and I've decided I want to do CHP but I'm very nervous about the physical stuff. I get exhausted and sick from doing only like, 1/2 a mile / 50 pushups / 50 situps... Getting real nervous.

Also - What song is this? I keep hearing it..

  • The song is "The Ecstasy of Gold" by Ennio Morricone, it's from "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" and is also the intro music to Metallica concerts.

  • Im trying to be a CHP officer as well. . . any advice, im 20 and want to get the ball rolling i already applied online to be a cadet.

  • I passed my QAP, so I'm only at step three of a very long process, but I can tell you this much. Buy a book to prepare for the written. If you pass the written and get to the physical, wear no jewelry and cover any tattoos, stand out in no way possible and do exactly as your told, including showing up at least 20 mins early. Go on a ride-a-long once you pass your written and go to the seminars at least for the QAP. The QAP is exactly as the seminar describes it to be.

  • your so right. Im turning in my personal history next week The CPAT is a tough day with the officers yelling in your face. Sucks.. good luck

  • Is the CHP written test the POST entery level test battery? Because that's the one I took when I applied with the Santa Ana PD.

  • hey, im 17 and i want to get into the CHP. do you think i would have a better chance of getting into the acadamey if i enlisted in the military?

  • I would go the college route....if you go to the military, you might have to sign a contract or get caught up in a war situation.

  • If you do not want to get in a WAR SITUATION, then DO NOT become a cop!

  • No Law Enforcement Agency in California will take anyone under the age of 21. You have to be 20 1/2 to start the hiring process. So, yeah I think you have a better chance in the military.

  • Go military, get life experiance and go to college at the same time.

  • @rworen83 HEY MAN JOIN THE CHP EXPLORERS. IT HELPS YOU OUT ALOT.

  • @rworen83 HEY MAN JOIN THE CHP EXPLORERS. IT HELPS YOU OUT ALOT.

  • This looks great, Im 19 and working on my AA but once I turn 21 im going to the academy.

  • remember, the age limit is 21-35 so if you don't get in the first time keep trying, most Sheriff's Deputies and Police Officers will tell you not to put your eggs in one basket but if you want to get into the CHP, concentrate on that.

  • this class started of with 167 only 108 graudated holy crap...im scared i get booted out if i go there

  • you gotta be confident!

  • I was arrested at the age of 18 for having a fake ID and resisting arrest. I'm now 21 and I went through the CHP process all the way up to the QAP a few months ago. My Charges were suppose to be misdemeanors but are in the system as felony's. I really want to be a CHP officer with all my heart. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Your best bet is gonna be to talk to a recruiter and get their take. Don't be embarrassed to ask the recruiters whatever questions you have. Those guys tend to be the friendliest you'll ever encounter in the department (especially as a potential applicant.) 1-888-4ACHPJOB

A felony can be dropped completely through expungement, however you'll need to talk with an attorney about the process. Your felony can also be dropped to a misdemeanor if expungement cannot be granted (by a judge.)

  • Thank you very much sir (Banian). I appreciate the time you took to give me that information.

  • If you have any felony convictions, I'm sorry, but you won't get in.

  • Nice vid!

  • 1:32 wow.

  • congrats.

    Be safe out there!!

  • Looks good to me. I would like to see some uniform changes though. The unif. is khaki, ties blue, jacket green.Green? Why?Green has no place there, seems unneccessary. Why all the different colors? Keep it all Khaki & blue. That would look much better & consistant than to put random green in there. Khaki & blue! Hope all you guys have safe & rewarding careers! I did my 25 safely & retired.

  • Congratulations! Wishing you all the best in your new careers. Be safe out there!

  • anybody know when the next class after Aug. 9th starts?

  • When does the DVD come out?

  • i just finished my final step in the application process "psych interview". now im just waiting on the word. hope i get accepted. im hoping to make the AUG 09 class.

  • Good luck. I was hoping for Aug. but my backround started early June and I haven't heard anything yet. lol, they love to keep you waiting. XD

  • I'm going through the process as well... hope to see you there!

  • I'm 21 and going to apply soon, you guys have any college degrees?

  • So how long exactly does it take for you to get a phone call or letter to begin the BI, because I'm still waiting and I passed the QAP way back in February and received my letter of passing in April. Am I just anxious or do they forget about ppl and you need to call i n or something????

  • I was contacted by my BI 2-3 months after receiving QAP results. He called on a Friday and I met with him the next Monday. After that I didn't hear from him again until a good 4 months later. BIs tend (but not always) to start on the applicants with the least past employers and/or addresses. Just my experience. Another month and I'd call recruiters. That agonizing anxiety is pretty normal. Congrats on passing the QAP! Now attain everything on the 446T (birth cert, EDD etc) and you're set!

  • I passed the QAP 5 months ago with a 85. I have very little background history for them to go over. Still NO CALL!!!!!! I got everything ready for them, they just need to call me and get this thing rolling.

  • I would just call, couldn't hurt.

  • I noticed that the guys in the video were using PR-24's. Do they allow you guys in the CHP to carry ASP's?

Or do yall just train with PR-24's

  • They are using side handle batons. PR-24 was a brand that used to make side handle batons (dont know if they still do). Anyway, every cadet must be fully proficient in its use. The cadets train with the ASP also and have the option to carry it later on during training.

  • I just finished week 2 and it is the hardest thing i have ever done. But I cannot wait for week 3.

  • Great, wish I could be doing the same right now, but i still havent been called by the BI. How long did it take for your BI to call you after you found out you passed the QAP?

  • Awesome, just awesome.

  • I wonder if the academy is difficult? I'm thinking about applying.

  • Yeah it's very difficult but also rewarding when you graduate.

  • my cousin graduated from the academy today.

  • This video is seriously motivating. Hope you put the rest up so I can see what to expect in the academy. That is, if I am lucky enough to be invited.

  • looks good! when's it gonna be done? where will i be able to see it? (i graduated in that class)

  • Dang thats tight so after your done what happens? Like how long do you wait to be on patrol?

  • you go on patrol 10 days after graduation, your with a TO for about 3 months then your on your own....this isn't the Sheriffs Department

  • So if you live in Norcal, graduate and get assigned to San Diego, you have 10 days to pack up everything, find a place, and go to work? How does that all work?
