being real, i think southern played this better. it was clearer, not as loud, but clearer, more understandable, and the change of tempo really helped bring the song out. not to mention 3:28.

I really hate to say this cause im not really on SU side but they really played this song better. The sound is better. Its like TxSU played it like SU would normally play a song. SU step out of their normal sound and played with some musicality instead of coming out the box. Maybe they realized they dont have to blow to sound good. Perfect example of what i mean check the difference in the blow sections of the songs TxSU at 1:25 and SU at 3:27 big difference. both where good but SU wins

every time I watch this video I am always renoticing how in the box SU always was on this song that year... Both We good... Depending on what you like either could go. I liked TXSU's powerful and sometimes out of control style that year... Its like they we the Rock band of the SWAC that year...

How was tsu playing the song in a bad key....it's the ORIGINAL KEY??? and how was it too fast, they're playing it the same tempo as the ORIGINAL SONG. Boy you can tell when people have never heard the original song, just what other bands have been playing.

Speaking as someone who was actually at the game and standing dead in the middle of the field when both bands played, I like SU's arrangement better, but it seemed like TxSU played their arrangement with more intensity. Both bands sounded EXCELLENT...

Good upper brass as always. Much kudos. But I do not like your lower brass - your sound is too top-heavy. Bones should be more prominent and please put them damn oversized baritones - i mean - fiberglass tubas away. I hate those things. Get some brass tubas.

Word through nthe grapevine is after the Stellar performance at the Honda BOTB Txsu is expected to have a flood of new recruits from Georiga,Florida,Alabama,LA., etc... So maybe now the scales will be balanced in our favor. I wonder what SU would do against a Band the same size with the same Brass make-up and the same band pride to Blow yo ass outta the stands ???

I also feel if they was 100% true to the game they would let other bands sit right across the field from them instead of cramming them into that small ass corner. Which obviously gives them an advantage Acoustics-wise.

su's version creased TSU. And to the person who said that SU has more brass, what does that have to do with how sloppy TSU sounded? Tell them to stop trying to play outside of their volume means. SU sounded damn good, TSU sounds like they are five days out of high school band camp. Except for the tubas. They played their butts off. Both sections did.

HOWEVER, i think TXSU has a nice arrangement. It may not have been loud as SU but da shit sounded good. SU hit 'em with da chords [pretty nice] but overall...i think TXSU got 'em. Yall gotta remember dat it's not all about who's da loudest all da time. If ya gon be loud, be in tune with one another. Im not sayin SU was out of tune...im just sayin in general.

Need I remind everyone that SU has at least 50 more brass players than the Ocean, but the sound comparison is so minute that it proves one of two things.

Either the Ocean has bigger nutts pound for pound or SU has alot of skaters.

...if you like playing arrangements where the solo is carried by one section and everyone accompanies then that's SU's style...but, of all bands, everyone plays the lead in TxSU's arrangements.Also, the rhythm is on the up beat...TxSU would be concidered a marching JAZZ band. Tha 2 bands r incomparable.

Southern's intonation and balance were better. Not much better, but TxSU was a little sloppier around the edges. Controlled Aggression vs str8 Blowin'.... SU won this one.
