he included romo because of mechanics. didnt your hear walsh britose? he may or may not be an elite quarterback, but his release is quick and his throwing motion is fluent. oh, and he is a great professional; walsh and parcells thought so...so dont be an ignorant football fan.
I want to come to CALI for a one on one lesson. I sent you a PM. Can u get back to me and let me know what you think about me and what your rates are and everything lke that?
Thank you so much! I'm currently in a competetion as a freshmen for a Varsity spot on the our schools football team! I've talked to my mom about going there but it's a little too much work because we are on the other side of the country. But i realise A LOT of things i need to improve on. Footwork and how my body moves! Thank you very much!
very nice vid... i love it, trying to be a QB in Colombia South America is hard when you dont have a coach... so i just watch your vids, train tecnique and work out to get a good arm
Very nice vid. I have some QB's with some mechanics problems and watching the slomo action is great and the explanation is outstanding. I watched everything frpm the feet to his head. great work and information.
how can i snap my risk when throwing i want to see a video of this and does my hand need to force to snap the ball or wil it happen naturally when i hold it firmly and relax just like a basketball shot? i need to see how this is done.
Hi, i'm only in grade 9 right now, but i want to be the starting quarterback for the school. I have been watching your videos all day and learned quite a lot actually. I just need basic and advanced techniques of what it takes to be a high school quarterback, because i always feel like my throwing mechanics are bad and so is my drop.I'm somewhat accurate but can't really throw for more than 40 yards. So if you can just give me basic and advanced tips and techniques. Thanks
You sound like a perfect Air Raid West Coast QB. Timing and accuracy are your strenghts. Work on game fil study, reading the defense, and learning all aspects of the offensive playbook.
You're 9 years old; if you can throw 40-yards you have a GREAT arm at your age. Watch a guy that has great mechanics and try to copy him -- that is the fastest way to improve if you don't have a QB coach. The ex-NFL guys that coach QB's now all throw well so pick one of those guys. If the guy cannot throw, don't copy him....
Are you pitching up your shoulders when you throw? NEVER WATCH THE BALL WHEN YOU THROW DEEP - WATCH THE TARGET AREA.. This will improve your accuracy. Get Phil Simms book on quaterbacking (his first one) I discovered it about a year ago and its great. Better than the book I wrote.
I would love to see the above the waist mechanics for a QB. Proper shoulder, elbow, and wrist position when setting up to deliver the ball. There are quite a few videos out there on footwork but very few on the actual upper body mechanics.
Some QB's come out of college holding the ball pretty high (Aaron Rodgers) but one they get to the NFL they bring it down. Ball security, quicker release while maintaining great velocity are some of the reasons why the ball comes down. Watch the great QBs; they all have a bit of a wind-up where the ball drops below their chest sometimes. By carring it lower, it comes out quicker and you keep the velocity up. Just don't hold it high like a baseball bat -- that really hurts you.
I noticed that nfl qbs bring the ball down once they reach the nfl, but college QBs often hold the ball on the "shelf" (up around their shirt pocket or under the neck) on the side of their throwing arm, any reason for this. BTW great video.
The ball comes out quicker with velocity. Try it yourself -- you'll see what I mean. There is a great college coach who has had many of his QBs become 1st round draft picks and when you see them in preseason the ball come down.
I always try to stay on top of things and ask my QB (I also try it myself) what works best. The days of holding the ball up on the shelf are gone it just doesnt allow you to get the ball out on time with velocity.
This is Ron Jenkins of the TP QB Academy. We are going to film two new QB videos in the next 30 days. If you have any suggestions on what YOU would like to see in a QB video, please give me your ideas. I want you (the viewer) to tell me what you want to see / learn. Progressions? Techniques? Throwing from the shotgun? Anything you think is important. We start filming Saturday so the quicker I get your comments the better. Thanks very much
I would like to see more upper body mechanics. I can put good velocity on the ball but i cant always throw a consistent spiral. I would like to see how far to bring the ball down from the carriage position and what the point of relase should be.
the qb with moppy hair is brodie croyle... he played at alabama. he was a great qb, but he suffered from knee injuries his entire career. I don't think he is in the NFL anymore.

i wish to god i lived in the states. i would kill to be able to come to this school, i dont care how much it would cost. i love your videos, thx for posting

You are going to have to practice snapping your wrist. The ball spins with the snap of the wrist and the shoulder spin --

Pitcher arm exercises are the best to use. They will help with arm strenght and flexibility.
