Really sad when kids have to deal with this kind of thing, if not worse. I worked in a Hospital for 7 years and saw some nasty things kids had to go through. Kids are our future.
awww PoorBaby, My daughter had a infected lymph node caused from a Cat Scratch (cat scratch fever), her face was swollen like his. She had to get injections in her thigh everyday for a week.
@whispers1136 Why? Because the mother brought her son in to the emergency room with an unfortunate abcess? Would you prefer her to cover it up and not take him to a doctor? Idiot.
@katieg469 Amen Katie! He/she does not believe in medical treatment to say something like that, also CPS would applaud Mom for getting her son help, they unlike whispers1136 believe in and assist parents in finding doctors.
SMHID @ whispers and I am glad that both baby boy and mommy who looked like a bundle of nerves are doing good now.
I had something like this when I was a kid. I had an enlarged lymph node on my neck but it was just a broad bump. they didn't remove it. they said it'd shrink , and it did.
interesting, my son has something similar too this except he's had it since birth and they've called it lymphovascular malformation, it along side his right cheek, are you an ent specialist?
@HyfeeBoy This child had a bacterial infection of a lymph node that turned into a large abscess. I practice emergency medicine and pediatric emergency medicine.
@lmellick Excellent work sir. I know the family must have been very grateful for your finding and taking care of this problem so promptly which is critical. As a former (now retired and disabled RN & Paramedic ) I still like to study these cases and learn more even though I can't work on the floor and/or ICU as I once did. Thanks for the learning this provided. God bless you and yours. Hope you have many more years of successful practice for the benefit of others and medical folks learning. RN
@retriverlover97 Be sure to read about it on the Internet, but lymph nodes are like filters that catch bacteria, etc. I sometimes I call them the garbage cans of the body.
my 2nd son had something like this, for months they treated with antibiotics , and come to find out it was A typical tuberculosis in the lymph nodes of his neck, they put him on t.b. meds which do not do anything for a typical t.b. he ended up having surgery to remove the growth and lost his syliva gland and many lymph nodes due to the size, he was 20m.old, the surgeon said he would have given it 2 more days till it ruptured and posioned his blood stream , resulting in death.
Good job in catching that for the mother and good job in not waiting for the needed surgery by the doctors. Great job all the way around. Poor little baby. My heart about stopped when I first saw the picture of that precious little child. So thankful that all came out OK. The antibiotic cleocin is an oldie but a goodie with cases like this. RN
