Those things at 4 secs are so stupid. I hated those things. All they did was bounce around, and they showed them a few times in 1 episode. But up until like 1993-1994, Sesame Street was really good, then it went downhill.
It's funny----it almost seems like the opposite of the approach they're taking now. I guess related to that is that the little era represented by this promo was before they realized that their audience had gotten younger.
The flowers, the circle, and the line are all psycdelic. How to stressed on sesame street is Step 1: Drink, Step 2: get dizzy, and Step 3: get PSYCDELIC!
Hoots is the best muppet of all time, hands down!

I used to find hoots really scary! I had nightmares and was afraid he was under my bed!

Not me! I love Hoots the Owl, ever since I saw him in Put Down the Duckie when I was little.

Sesame Street the coolest street in the world (not anymore) stupid Elmo.

Don't forget Elmo was already around then.
It's not him that downsized the "cool" factor, it's the way they decided to change the general tone. He just happened to be the axis of that change.

@VoltzCartoons: I believe those guys at 0:04 are Baby Tooth and the Funky Funk. I can see why they'd scare you.

Man, I forgot how "cool" and "current" "Sesame Street" was trying to be back in the 1993-1998 years. It was pretty weird.

Also, I noticed that Hoots was one of the earliest Muppets to feature moving eyelid mechanism! That made him really unique.
