I did have an issue with the ending of the story, specifically before the final battle. It felt like an anti-climatic copout. I would have liked to have known about Etro DURING the game, and not in an effing Ultimania guide and online, thank you very much. Having to look up the reason why main characters are turned back from monsters and not being shown so in the game ticks me off. So overall, the game wasn't the best in the world, but it most definitely was not the worst.
That was a ridic. biased review. XIII had its issues, but it wasn't complete crap. The storyline was fine. I loved it and understood it (the mythology is a bit complicated though). Yes, grinding was a pain, and 'game over' when the leader of your party dies is complete bullshit. Glad they fixed that in XIII-2. The characters were all great..except for Snow. SOB didn't change a bit in XIII-2. And Vanille's battle noises were grating.
This game was quite obviously not about the battle sequences and shit, it was about the characters and their stories more than anything, and i personally loved it, they went into such depth with these characters like they've never done before, instead of just having a group of people decide, ''hey guys lets just go save the fucking world'' these guys are being forced to destroy it by the bad guys at first, and basically fighting to survive for the whole game.

You forgot to mention those dumbass Trapezohedron that you need to collect to level up a weapon to the maximum. You know, the item that you rarely get by defeating the most difficult monster in the game.
I never understood why the fuck would I need to level up my weapon if I can already defeat the most difficult monster in the game with my shitty weapon. Argh, I hate this fucking game!
FF I - X and most rpgs from Japan for that fact, have completely and obsoletely stale battle systems.
This is actually one of the more complicated, well crafted, well produced and well delivered scenarios (next to Metal Gear 4) i've seen in years.
I'm not trying to say it's the perfect game but let's be honest a lot of the criticism came from judging the game sorely as an rpg (when there's rpg+ action + strategy) and on a story that was for a change NOT EASY TO FOLLOW !

I disagree with this entire thing. I've played many of the FF games, first of all, XII was the worst in my opinion. XIII on the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed. Exactly what is it that you people hate so much about it? I'm hearing terrible story, bad connection to characters and people say bad gameplay. You guys are idiots, sorry but it's true. By no means is this a great FF game, but the storyline was good, and had characters I personally cared about. Sure it's linear, but I still liked it.
This game was fucking terrible. I have never had such a lack of connection to a Final Fantasy cast. None of the characters can be related to, so I have no emotional connection to them like I have with nearly every other FF cast.

Forcing myself to finish this game, I don't see it happening. I fall asleep far too often during gameplay. Switching to FFV I have a shitload more fun, and it's actually an interesting story. This game is to the game series as The Spirits Within was to the movies.

Erm it seems people are taking games a little too seriously haha. I play a game to have fun, which I definitely do with all the ff games I've played (albeit only played about 6). The reviewer generalises everything to a so called 'western audience'. Sorry, but everyone is different, so it makes no sense to say thats the reason not to play the game. Also, a good reviewer looks at positives AND negatives. This game is different and some people won't like it, but others will, same as with any game

While it does heavily pan the game, he isn't entirely wrong in the grand scheme of things. Even if you fancy the plot and get a feel for the gameplay, FFXIII is a very linear and slowpacing game that frankly feels afraid to let players actually play it. Compared to many of its predecessors like FFVII and FFX, FFXIII just does not hold up to the legacy of the series.
Ultimately though, this is an opinion but an in-depth one. He didn't like the game, a lot of people didn't.
The game really doesn't catch up until chapter 10 if i remember, but regardless the game was still good. chapters 1-9 went by too fast. But its still a good game.

As funny as it was and all, FF13 could be a whole lot worse. Sure it's easy and shortish and the story isn't so great, but it was still fun. If not, you wouldn't have finished the game. I prefer FF9, but that's just me.
Just because you describe this game in a depressing tone of voice does not mean it's bad. You could read the summary for Shakespear plays in that voice and it would make it sound dumb. I disagree with this entire thing. I've played many of the FF games, first of all, XII was the worst in my opinion. XIII on the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed. Exactly what is it that you people hate so much about it? I'm hearing terrible story, bad connection to characters and people say bad gameplay. You guys are idiots, sorry but it's true. By no means is this a great FF game, but the storyline was good, and had characters I personally cared about. Sure it's linear, but I still liked it.

This game was fucking terrible. I have never had such a lack of connection to a Final Fantasy cast. None of the characters can be related to, so I have no emotional connection to them like I have with nearly every other FF cast.
Oh, and can I point out how fucking retarded it is that the Summons turn into vehicles??? This isn't Transformers.

Well it is rather biased, as it seemed like you were really out to attack the game during this review. A good review identifies both good and bad points, and emphasizes them in an equal manner. Plus, there are a lot of clear opinionated points made. The game has its obvious flaws,but this makes them sound worse than they are. I think you let your emotions get in the way too much. The reviewer generalises everything to a so called 'western audience'. Sorry, but everyone is different, so it makes no sense to say thats the reason not to play the game. Also, a good reviewer looks at positives AND negatives. This game is different and some people won't like it, but others will, same as with any game

I don't know what kind of games you play, but we clearly don't have the same idea of what a game is, which is fine because we all have our own opinions. IMO the story was very good although it took a while to understand, the battle system was very good except that you lose when party leader dies. Characters were good except they were a little whiney, especially Vanille haha

While it does heavily pan the game, he isn't entirely wrong in the grand scheme of things. Even if you fancy the plot and get a feel for the gameplay, FFXIII is a very linear and slowpacing game that frankly feels afraid to let players actually play it. Compared to many of its predecessors like FFVII and FFX, FFXIII just does not hold up to the legacy of the series.
Ultimately though, this is an opinion but an in-depth one. He didn't like the game, a lot of people didn't.

Just because you describe this game in a depressing tone of voice does not mean it's bad. You could read the summary for Shakespear plays in that voice and it would make it sound dumb.
