Now can we get ME, but with an in house engine that doesn't clash with what they are trying to do? I really wish they'd used and in house engine, Mass Effect could be the top of the pack in visuals. I understand using Unreal to cut cost and development time... but man the lighting in Unreal just looks crap in ME2 sometimes.

Graphics don't make the game, but problems with them can break a game if they take the player out of the experience, which Mass Effect's do at times. @FreshPofBellaireTX The first time I played ME I hated it and stayed away from it for 2 years. Then my brother convinced me to give it another go, because it's his favorite game. So I did. Years later, I have put 100+ hours towards Mass Effect. This seems to be the case with a lot of gamers XD
This game is absolutely unbelievable, i beat it the first time and only lost one squad member replayed the whole thing and everyone survived, had goosebumps the entire last level, favorite game of all time bioware really knows how to design games.
@Protectereli I'm currently in a 4th play-through of ME2. 1st time, I lost one character. NOT carrying that one into ME3. Last 2 plays, everyone survived. Everyone WILL survive in my current go round. Planning to carry THIS and my previous 2 saves into ME3.
I don't remember wanting to play ONE game this many times before. Hmm..in all of my plays, I've had the Council live. I may actually play ME2 again for a 5th time using the Genesis DLC to have The Council NOT survive. Muahaha!
@bhorde2k Do you have me1? I have a ps3 so i do not, the ps3 came with the free comic to make my own choices though :) me neither, i have beaten all the elder scrolls fallout games and more and rarely play through more than once, mass effect is just an addicting game, who did you end up romancing?
@Protectereli Oh..I have completed the main quests of Morrowind, Oblivion and Fallout 3. I have Fallout: New Vegas (not done) and Skyrim (playing now). I have played Arena and Daggerfall, but didn't finish their respective main quests. I have both games and MAY get back into them at some point to finish. You are correct..Mass Effect IS addicting. Such an AWESOME story told by Bioware. Without an Elder Scrolls game to go up against, I'm feeling that ME3 might end up being GotY for 2012. :)
What about this. In ME3 you have to have sex with someone in your crew and get a baby. Then in the next ME you play as the baby. Then you dont have to be a human in the next ME. I cant be the only one who thinks thats a cool idea?
@diiide15 Nice idea. But impossible to say the least. Bioware already puts tons of options in the game if you are Shepard alone. Imagine if he had a child of alien descent. Even it 1 or 2 aliens thats still nearly 2 completely different storylines. Thus creating 3 games in 1? A little too much and can't be done in the time it takes to develop these games (2years).
I remember when ME1 came out. I was like "That looks too long and it will probably be boring". After 2 1/2 years I finally bought it and was BLOWN AWAY. I mean I can honestly say that it is one of the kings of Sci Fi along with Halo and Star Wars. I just hope we get more games that go into the ME universe more after ME3.

Mass Effect just seems so much like other games. The whole style reminds me of Halo (Geth shotgun, M8 rifle, Marines), it just seems like something we've seen before. Yet it somehow manages not just to be another stupid copy but actually a great universe and great games.
Bioware said that this is the end of the series for Commander Shepard, they never said it was the end of the series itself. Maybe they'll have his kid in the next one. What is it about this ending that is just so enticing?
Bioware does the most magnificent job making you honestly believe that there is just absolutely no way to win, or at least, keep everyone alive. You're CONVINCED that it is impossible.
The only real chance of getting everyone through is playing the whole campaign and doing 80 hours of playing. When you finally finish, and everyone's alive, it feels like all the hard work is paid off. The ending is just as epic as it is REWARDING.
I just beat the Campaign on Insanity I honestly Thought I couldn't do it until this song played in the background and I just killing every collector in the room :P
The only other game I ever cried in was Fallout 1,,, Mass Effect 2 got me crying in my 1st playthrough when Mordin died... now I get a lump in my throat every time I finish the game simply because of the great action sequences, supported by awsome sountrack
Hmm. All this great music got me thinking....of a band consisting of the original ME characters.
Wrex would have to be on drums. Tali gets a keyboard/keytar. Garrus is on lead guitar, Shepard gets bass, and Liara sings. And if I have to give jobs to Ashley and Kaidan, they get security and roadie, respectively.

I think i'm one of the few people who accepted the losses in their story.. i mean even if i lost a character did i cared for i wouldn't restart for that.. it would only hurt the story for me. Losing important characters is part of the game and should be taken as special motivation to fight. Gotta be stronger than that.
@Thane4 I want to play on based on my first finish -- with a dead Garrus, but I think he'll be too important in the final game to let him go. If it were a one of the one-shots who won't be crucial, like Jack or even Kasumi, I'd stick to the tough results. But as it is, if there are just a handful of squad-members and I'm missing out on lots of content, I'm just not going to do it.
@FreshPofBellaireTX It's an amazingly rich universe, but at the same time there is something to be said for not spoiling it. I think there is a history of franchises that have gone on too long and have lost face because of it (they have "jumped the shark"). In terms of sci-fi, some of the Star Trek series got stale. Battlestar Galactica ended early enough to keep people interested and excited. Firefly ended very quickly, but look at the huge fan base. I don't want them to spoil Mass Effect.

@FreshPofBellaireTX you are right pal one of details that people dont see is that bioware use real science to make their game so the weapons on mass effect could be the weapons of the future lol for example how a weapon works on mass effect, a mini mass effect field use to project a heavy metal slug at deadly velocities the slugs are produce from the "magazine" of the weapon a piece of metal that can providre thousands of shots when the weapon overheats it spend a thermal clip to remove the heat
This game has really touched me like no other game has. This game is so well made that I feel like I'm part of the game, that whatever shepard feels I feel. This really is magnificent franchise that when it finally comes to an end I would shed a tear for giving me the best game experience in my whole life.
I've made about 10 different shepards and each one took up at least 14 hours of my life and all i can say about that is that 'That Time Was Not Wasted!!!' Mass effect is a truely amazing game and i'm pretty sure no other game i have or ever will play will make me feel like an actual part of the game.. March 9th can not come soon enough!! i will have even less of a social life than i already do but.. I DON'T CARE!!! paha
Saved the rachni queen, let the council die, lost wrex, blew up the geth station, tried to convince the quarians to take back their homeworld, lost grunt and legion, blew up the collector base. Looking back at these choices I realize all the mistakes I made, but that is okay. It is my Shepard and my story.

OMG,this is the song i've been looking for ever since I've finished my BADASS copy of ME2 on PS3 with my BADASS maxed out Sentinel Shepard getting out of that last mission with everyone alive,lol. Thank god I did all those upgrades,never knew they mattered till the end since I could literally see how the game actually pummels with variable real time cutscenes of the events based on my decisions prior,lol.SO,SO AMAZING RPG I've ever played in a loooooong time:P
I think that either one is good. I prefer to let Kaidan live though, he was a better character in my opnion. Also, I thought he was more useful then Ash, in terms of squads.
Don't get me wrong, both characters are great, its just that I personally think that he is a more useful character.
Also you won't have a sentinel in your squad if you chose ash. You would have 2 soilders in that case (that new squad member, cant remember)
@that1dude0092 for me, killed council and rachni in ME1 cuz im renegade all the way, and romanced no one in ME1 because I will ONLY romance TALI - my 2nd fav char, first being my epic glowing red scarred shep of course, and I'll romance her again ME3 :D just wish I could romance Tali in ME1 tho.......

Mass Effect truely is a unique franchise, no other game will ever fuck around with my emotions as much as this game does. I mean, to find myself so completely immersed in story, caring so deeply for the characters and what happens to them...its almost as if Shepard becomes an intergral part of me. No other game would EVER do this to me, and I doubt i'm alone in this.
Thank you Bioware for such an amazing franchise, and bring on ME3!

@Edolix95 Ameeen, amen, amen. I totally feel the depth of this game. The characters are so realistic; so much effort has been put in creating the lore even down to the minutiae (e.g. turians and quarians eat different food from other races because they have different amino acids). I extremely rarely play any shooter games and I dismissed the ME series as just another shooter for kids. Boy, was I wrong. I wish more games immersed me as well as this one.
@Edolix95 i can think of 1 game which story can rival this witcher 2 assassins of kings and witcher 1 theres no morality system your faced with harder choices because theres no white and black but mostly gray your friends can become your enemies depending on your choices so thats why i think it can rival mass effect note i did not say beat because im also a mass effect fan aswell so if you play the witcher 1 or 2 tell me what you think.
@Edolix95 I feel exactly the same way. To be honest, I don't think I would want them to change the franchise at all. I have become Shepard. I don't want to play as anyone else. That would feel just as wrong as cheating on Liara. Hopefully, the Reaper threat won't exactly disappear in ME3 (LOOK AT THAT FLEET). Hopefully, despite BioWare's denial, we WILL get more of Shepard. And just as much as I am Shepard, the crew is my crew. I care about them and I'd go to hell and back for all of them.

When Tali died at the end of the game, and realized that I couldn't go back to a save early enough in the game to save her, I restarted the whole damn game. I left with everyone alive. Epic.

@Bobby3OOO Whatever dude. I upgraded absolutely everything, and got everyone's loylalty. I realized what killed her was this: you're supposed to leave behind at least two war experts behind when you go off to face the final boss. Tali's death came as an absolute shock to me, and my plan to make sure everyone lived completely backfired. Deleting all the previous saves ending up being the stupidest thing ever, but I didn't let that get to me. I restarted, and saved everyone.
@XGreenBayPackerfanX Huh? I was really confused about why you wouldn't have an early enough save -- so I figured you'd just blown off upgrading shields, or something from hours earlier.
But... you didn't have a save from, like, 12 minutes earlier? That's just weird. I still think you're a bad shepard. You couldn't even restart the badass cutscene sequence or replay the softcore hookup with Miranda.... Not sure what you were thinking.

This song reminds me just how EPIC this series is. I've been around a long time and have been playing games for almost 2 decades and I can honestly say this game is the greatest game of all time, the production quality, story, characters and heavy choice driven gameplay which affects all three games is unmatched.

Most of our kind are so stuck with old titles that they don't recognise that this generation has a lot of masterpieces some of them even surpass old sucesses, Mass Effect being one of them and also the greatest series of this generation.

Play 1 - No Romance. Lost Jack (Escort, Not Loyal). Not transferring save.
Play 2 - Romanced Miranda, but broke for Tali. All survived. Transferring save.
Play 3 - Romanced Jacob, but broke for Garrus. All Survived. Transferring save.
Play 4 (Current) - Used Genesis DLC. Ash AND Wrex alive. Love interest is Liara. All WILL survive. WILL transfer save.

Bioware does the most magnificent job making you honestly believe that there is just absolutely no way to win, or at least, keep everyone alive. You're CONVINCED that it is impossible.
The only real chance of getting everyone through is playing the whole campaign and doing 80 hours of playing. When you finally finish, and everyone's alive, it feels like all the hard work is paid off. The ending is just as epic as it is REWARDING.

The only other game I ever cried in was Fallout 1,,, Mass Effect 2 got me crying in my 1st playthrough when Mordin died... now I get a lump in my throat every time I finish the game simply because of the great action sequences, supported by awsome sountrack

Hmm. All this great music got me thinking....of a band consisting of the original ME characters.
Wrex would have to be on drums. Tali gets a keyboard/keytar. Garrus is on lead guitar, Shepard gets bass, and Liara sings. And if I have to give jobs to Ashley and Kaidan, they get security and roadie, respectively.

I think i'm one of the few people who accepted the losses in their story.. i mean even if i lost a character did i cared for i wouldn't restart for that.. it would only hurt the story for me. Losing important characters is part of the game and should be taken as special motivation to fight. Gotta be stronger than that.

@Thane4 I want to play on based on my first finish -- with a dead Garrus, but I think he'll be too important in the final game to let him go. If it were a one of the one-shots who won't be crucial, like Jack or even Kasumi, I'd stick to the tough results. But as it is, if there are just a handful of squad-members and I'm missing out on lots of content, I'm just not going to do it.
Maybe if Bioware takes account of that....

After 1st mission : holy shit...
After ME3, they must expand this franchise. MMORPG, RTS, another hero... something.
Mass Effect universe is just too unique and too rich in detail to pass through with a trilogy.

@FreshPofBellaireTX It's an amazingly rich universe, but at the same time there is something to be said for not spoiling it. I think there is a history of franchises that have gone on too long and have lost face because of it (they have "jumped the shark"). In terms of sci-fi, some of the Star Trek series got stale. Battlestar Galactica ended early enough to keep people interested and excited. Firefly ended very quickly, but look at the huge fan base. I don't want them to spoil Mass Effect.

@FreshPofBellaireTX you are right pal one of details that people dont see is that bioware use real science to make their game so the weapons on mass effect could be the weapons of the future lol for example how a weapon works on mass effect, a mini mass effect field use to project a heavy metal slug at deadly velocities the slugs are produce from the "magazine" of the weapon a piece of metal that can providre thousands of shots when the weapon overheats it spend a thermal clip to remove the heat

This game has really touched me like no other game has. This game is so well made that I feel like I'm part of the game, that whatever shepard feels I feel. This really is magnificent franchise that when it finally comes to an end I would shed a tear for giving me the best game experience in my whole life.

Saved the rachni queen, let the council die, lost wrex, blew up the geth station, tried to convince the quarians to take back their homeworld, lost grunt and legion, blew up the collector base. Looking back at these choices I realize all the mistakes I made, but that is okay. It is my Shepard and my story.

OMG,this is the song i've been looking for ever since I've finished my BADASS copy of ME2 on PS3 with my BADASS maxed out Sentinel Shepard getting out of that last mission with everyone alive,lol. I think that either one is good. I prefer to let Kaidan live though, he was a better character in my opnion. Also, I thought he was more useful then Ash, in terms of squads.
Don't get me wrong, both characters are great, its just that I personally think that he is a more useful character.
Also you won't have a sentinel in your squad if you chose ash. You would have 2 soilders in that case (that new squad member, cant remember)

Mass Effect truely is a unique franchise, no other game will ever fuck around with my emotions as much as this game does. I mean, to find myself so completely immersed in story, caring so deeply for the characters and what happens to them...its almost as if Shepard becomes an intergral part of me. No other game would EVER do this to me, and I doubt i'm alone in this.
Thank you Bioware for such an amazing franchise, and bring on ME3!

@Edolix95 Ameeen, amen, amen. I totally feel the depth of this game. The characters are so realistic; so much effort has been put in creating the lore even down to the minutiae (e.g. turians and quarians eat different food from other races because they have different amino acids). I extremely rarely play any shooter games and I dismissed the ME series as just another shooter for kids. Boy, was I wrong. I wish more games immersed me as well as this one.

@Edolix95 I feel exactly the same way. To be honest, I don't think I would want them to change the franchise at all. I have become Shepard. I don't want to play as anyone else. That would feel just as wrong as cheating on Liara. Hopefully, the Reaper threat won't exactly disappear in ME3 (LOOK AT THAT FLEET). Hopefully, despite BioWare's denial, we WILL get more of Shepard. And just as much as I am Shepard, the crew is my crew. I care about them and I'd go to hell and back for all of them.

@Bobby3OOO Whatever dude. I upgraded absolutely everything, and got everyone's loylalty. I realized what killed her was this: you're supposed to leave behind at least two war experts behind when you go off to face the final boss. Tali's death came as an absolute shock to me, and my plan to make sure everyone lived completely backfired. Deleting all the previous saves ending up being the stupidest thing ever, but I didn't let that get to me. I restarted, and saved everyone.
