  • "It is my duty as a Pararescueman to save life and aid the injured,

I will be prepared at all times to perform my assigned duties quickly and efficiently,

Placing these duties before personal desires and comforts.

These things we do, that others may live." Shipping off to BMT in July to realize my dream.

  • "the special forces of special forces that specialize in saving special forces"-

  • love this song....... P.J. these things we do.... SO OTHER MAY LIVE

  • So that others may live! Go AirForce!! Proud Air Force Mom!!

  • They deffinetly got my respect! I skydive myself, but this is big balls and bad ass!

  • 3 people don't know how badass pararescuemen are

  • Awesome video! Love the video at 3:46. All loaded down ready to jump!

  • i have so much respect for these dudes, would love to be able to do this or SEALs, but i do want a bit of a civilian life, & i'm pursing firefighting. so tomorrow i take a trip down to the army recruiter, to see about joining and possibly in the distant future pursuing special forces in the army. static line jumping and that shit wouldn't be enough for me. i need to stand with the elite, halo freefall, be on sick ass missions and all that good stuff

  • @shawnster26 hey man i would check out being an officer your are much more of a leader when you are an officer, im not putting down the enlisted but give it a shot, im a future u.s. air force fighterpilot and it will all pay off one day, good luck and my best of wishes to you

  • im only 12 and i know i wanna do this ive seen all the requirments and i have everything planned. i have such high respect for these guys. Best in the military

  • im sure people who have jobs like this dont deserve songs of emos....

  • As a PJ, You HAVE to be comfortable in the water. If no pool, grab a buddy and swim in the lake,If its cold GREAT!!! Most guys drop because of the mental and if you cant swim your mind is going to tell you to stop. You can NEVER quit EVER!!! You Quit you Die and so do others. If you join PJ's, You will be HOTTER, COLDER, more Tired more sandy, more muddy then you have EVER been in your life!! But if you pass, You will also know that YOU can do ANYTHING

  • @wbvp i like how you said it..im going to type this out and post it on my wall... being a PJ is my goal and i will do ANYTHING to do get to it

  • For all those who say "the Air Force isn't as good as the army in combat!" These guys prove, the air force is no laughing matter.

  • TACP is embedded with army units. CCT is "first there" not TACP or anyone else for that matter. TACP doesnt take over airfields or anything for that matter. They check weather. and PJs are better than CCT and TACP. (in my opinon.)

  • TACP is similar to CCT. (Not exact, but similar). And No, TACP has no swim in its PAST testing.

    -Curently going through all this.

  • @VacantDreams

hence, tacp's and cct's don't really see eye

    to eye.

  • What is TACP?

  • @frpenguin

    tactical air control party.

  • badass

  • man im 18 n im gona join the usaf wen i talked to the recruit n asked bout special ops he gave the pamphlet for p.j but i said i cant swim so he took it away tacp is my 2nd choice both r badass but pj's the shit they do is fukn amazing i wish i could swim

  • you're not going to even attempt to even learn how to swim? It's a good skill to have as a tacp.

  • yes i am this summer its my goal to learn to swim so i can at least take a shot at pjs

  • 967527: even though they took away the pj pamphlet don't mean you can't do it. they will teach you to swim. I whent to an encampment at cherry point and the basic cadets that didn't know how to swim was givin a 30 second crash course then thrown in the combat pool. Pararescue is tough to get into as well. I'm turning 18 in may and I will be going strait to para rescue boot camp cause of a training course i'm about to take. that still don't promise i will be a pj though

  • once more thing it would help if you started up in a cadet program like civil air patrol and did pjoc and ac first. if you pass those courses if promises you will go to pj training

  • @967527 bro im in the exact same boat. Im 18 and i also wanna join the airforce and becoming a pararescue seems like the most rewarding. im in pretty good shape but ive been better i have alot of potential and i know this cuz i wrestled for some years. But just like you i cant swim for shit haha. i can swim but barley i really hope i can work on it to become a pararescue if not i think an aerial gunner would fit me well too lol

  • Learn to swim.. Its not that hard. Take a year to get into the best physical shape of your life. And get more comfortable in water than you are on your feet.

  • @967527 i beleive that for TACP swimming is still mandatory...they are special ops and are embedded with some Seal teams

  • Your P.E teachers didn't teach you how to swim in high school? I find that hard to believe.

  • dude i avoided that becuz i was in sports pe my entire high skool years

  • @JPHLIPERS- Not all highschools can afford pools

  • @JPHLIPERS I don't have a pool in my high school... None in my district do...

  • -2 years training to be a PJ

-i thought if u qualify right off the bat u can app my have changed

    - many

  • Thanks for posting I was a PJ back in the 80s and 90s. Good luck to all you young guys, Its a great job, Wish I could go back and do it again!

  • Do they train you in water alott?

  • Big time thats where we would lose the most of the canidates in the water. At the OLJ. But once you get through that your pretty much on your way. Good Luck!

  • I want to be in a special ops eventually, but i'm just not that great in the water.

  • Well get your butt in the water and start training you got time, There was this one guy in the class before mine he was bad in the water I mean sucked but he willed himself to make it and got better and overcame it. Just don't quit!

  • Yes sir, I wouldn't say im bad, I go swimming almost everyday, just run out of energy real quick. but i will start training ;)

  • On of the most important things is to build up your lungs and get comfortable being under water and holding your breath, without hurting your self do under waters swim from shallow to deep end underwater or as far as u can then freestyle back give yourself 1 min in between sets start slow and build yourself up this is a building block to getting your underwater and water confidence up! Im 45 and I can still do these all day long once your train your mind your body will follow. Good Luck.

  • I have a couple questions if thats okay.

    (1) How long is all the training for a pj

    (2) How long do you need to be in the air force before you can tryout

    (3) What kind of missions do you guys do?

  • Depends I had lots of the schools before I cross trained but for you about 16-18 months

You can go into right from Basic used to be they would ask for trainees right from basic but you give up your job that you sighed a contract for. or maybe your recruiter can get you a slot

Lots of different ops/missions mainly search and rescue of VIPs/Pilots, ect and important equipment. and extraction. PJs are used on lots of sister service special ops too. Exc combat skills and medics. Good Luck

  • Wow, over a year of training?

  • fuck i dont think i could handle water confidence but these guys r real heroes

  • God damn college wont end soon enough i cant wait to have the opportunity to be one of these men.

  • I agree with you...i can't wait to finish my associates degree.

  • buddy breathing is when you and your buddy are in the pool and have to share a snorkel and only breathe from that snorkel. The instructor will simulate rough seas by splashing water at them, bringing them down to the pool, shaking them around, smash them together, trying to drown them, spin them around in the water. etc. It usually lasts about 2, 3 minutes. If you come up to breathe more than once, you fail.

  • drown proofing, buddy breathing, knot tieing, 10 ups, underwaters, tread water, ditch and don, mask and snorkel recovery.

  • Can you go into pj training after bmt? what are requirements?

  • great video!!! I'm going to be an Air Force Pararescue pilot!!!!!!

  • Probably the most rewarding job in the AF. And the most fun. Diving, parachuting, bikes, dune buggies, shooting, boats, flying and saving lives. Not to mention being just like SEALs. Who wouldn't want to do this?

  • I leave October 13 for BMT and then it's on to PJ indoc! I'm soo excited to be doing this shit! "That Others May Live!" HOOYAH!!!

  • Im in school studying robotics in 3 years when i graduate im going the Air force for bomb disposal :D im ganna build the robots to defuse bombs its some sick shit

  • great footage, alot of other videos don't have some of the movie clips you have

  • This was stolen from the Pararescue website. He just changed the audio...

  • When im older im joining airforce so this is great footage.

  • Awesome video!!! someone should make a PJ video but with the song, "highway to the danger zone" haha that song is great

  • no that it a horrible idea

    watch?v=Fcv5e6xX25I

  • Do they perform H.A.L.O.

  • of course they do

  • Thanks man i was wondering. Are you a pararescue in the AIR FORCE? I am about to choose my job and i am concidering.

  • i m in the same boat you are man

i dont even question it i m doing it

there is a 90% wash out rate

    so FUCKING PUSH IT

  • Everybody pushes it, just most people don't like the water confidence events. Days get longer, events get harder, more is expected, recovery is less. body breaks down, and eventually, the 'weak' are gone. There are no weak ppl who go through this training, and hats off for giving it everything they got.

  • the good thing is, if your body isn't ready to pass indoc and you fail an eval and retest, you'll get rolled out with the option of doing it again from the beginning. same thing if you get rolled out for an injury. only the quitters dont get to come back

  • yup

  • my fiance is one!

  • Only the elite can pass this training. Talk about kick asses....their amazing group of men

  • I wish i could do this... But i did bad n HighSchool. PJs are AMAZING

  • you still can man just call your local recruiter and i got all D in HS and im going to airborne schoo for the army and after that i going for ranger school

just stick your head out there

  • PJ's are medical. Thats why he says this.

  • yea i know but were there is a will there is a way and im sure they will give you most the medical training... i afraid of needles and all that medical stuff so thats why i couldnt but hopefully i ge accepted into ranger school

    Rangers lead the way.

  • You have to have a 3.0gpa or higher. So its going to college for GED and getting good grades to get the GPA

  • Wait a GPA in highschool of 3.0 in order to be one?

  • If they think your worth it they will pass you. but normally a minimum of 3.0. Because of the intensive paramedic training

  • its possible bt ur gunna have to study hard

  • Dont let anything get in your way just fucking do it man. If you want something you have get it man, just do if bro.

  • As from what I have read, there is no transfering from any branch of service (not even the US branches) so that you can train to be a PJ. You have to leave your current branch, Enlist in the US air force, and then go through Basic training and then the PJ indoc course which is about 10 weeks, and then another nearly 2 years of training before you can actually become a PJ.

  • Actually, if you have served already, then you don't have to go to basic. You have already been trained the basic skills. Then you go to indoc and Medical training. Overall about 110 weeks of training

  • You have to go through the "blueing" process. That is what i meant by basic lol. It's like 2 weeks long or so. Teaches you the basic of the air force.

  • Its not 2 weeks. Its more like just passing the final test. 1 day...

  • Sorry Forgot to Add A Question Obviously I'm Living In The UK Aged 19, One Of My Mates Lives In US And Going Marines But Me CSAR All The Way, Does Anyone Know If Its Possible To Transfer From UK Unit?

  • If you move from the UK to the US, yes it is possible

  • Have The Upmost Respect For The PJ's, Myself I'm Heading For The UK Version RAF Regiment CSAR Unit, Gonna Love It, It Is Annoying When You Get People Saying That Its All Saving No Full On Combat, Well I Would Prefer The Feeling Of Bringing Back Others Then Myself Anyday!.

"These Things We Do, So Others May Live!"

  • @GySgtWolf cool man my bro just got sent to menwithhill by the air force you guys keep it up youre like brothers to us

  • @GySgtWolf My bro served in iraq as a marine for 2 years and i wanted to join the AF as a PJ. He said to me if its not for people like us, the marines wouldnt be able to do their jobs. Its about re-assurance. You got eachothers backs

  • great video. I have a nephew that just got deployed to Iraq...this is for him and all the soldiers doing what they got to do over there!!! Proud to be an American!!!!

  • i leave to basic august 4th, and after that im going to PJ INDOC, took the PAST test in february, man, im lookin forward to this. TYPE A personality is how to describe me, been training for about 5 years, and been intesnly training every day for about 2 years now, senior in HS

i would like to keep in contact with any upcomming PJ's like me. that will be cool if were in the same flight for basic

  • Can't Wait i really can't.

  • interesting, yes i know i have to be a citizen.

I will apply for it when i am enlisted in the USAF.

  • song sucked, pj's rule

  • haha 2 more summers an im joining the air force and becoming a PJ. i got 2 yrs of training myself so i should be in good shape then 2 become 1

  • Having so much time on your hands makes some people lazy.

Just remember what you want and what you are willing to give up to get it.

Good Luck to you, i go out next summer for BMT.

Pararescue are the Elite and d Air Force deserves the Squadrons.

  • who sings the song

  • Underoath

  • my dad is a retired air force pj. Staff Seargent Robert Anderson he was in Desert Storm i have so much respect for him and any other pjs. they are the real bad asses. when the seals and marines fuckup who do they call......Thats right The Pjs THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE

  • Thats why they train constantly for other peoples fuck ups.

  • i plan on doin this wen i turn 18 and badass song

  • The song kicked ass by the way... I'm going to download it RIGHT now.

  • BAD ASS!! That's exactly what I'm enlisting for. That or Combat Controller.

    obrigado

abraços a todos Very good this video, like

I am a soldier of the Brazilian air force

and my dream is to serve in-sar, is like U.S. Air forece pararescue

    thanks

    hugs to everyone

  • Ok then. what song would you guys like to hear on this video.

  • don't worry its a good song to some, just don't always listen to the people that bitch there probably just 15 year olds that are spoiled to death. good song and video.

  • im pretty sure i saw this video on the pararescue website

  • good vid but this song sucks, this singer needs help

  • I cant wait to be part of this elite force of american soldiers. leaving for BT january first hit me up if your gonna be there im fron snohomish, wa

  • great movie

  • Chair force? lol, pretty badass chair to sit in...In fact, YOU sir, will never see this chair, never know what it looks like, or how it feels. You will never be elite.

    Hooyah

  • really looks like they are sitting in a chair doesnt it?

  • really looks like they are sitting in chairs doesnt it, you moron

  • air force is the best

  • i leave in January cant wait

  • This unit is one of the most elite units in the WORLDS STRONGEST MILITARY.

Most definately would love to be in this unit, but the work is extreme.

    Dropout rate is roughly 90%.

Total training is 1 year and 4 months.

Leaving for BMT as early as next year

  • i cant wait to do that xD

  • i leave in november..im stoked for indoc

  • Good luck man, leaving next year August here.

  • thanks bro..just been swimming alot and running lol. thats all i have been doing haha

  • Yeah that's all you really should be doing at this point, especially with your leave date so close. Have you been practicing any water confidence? Getting use to being underwater for a long period of time trying to get a task done is probably one of the tougher things to work for. Once you make it through indoc though, things should be cake.

  • Make sure you learn to do the eggbeater and fin not swim....

  • This video was nicely put together, 5/5 stars

  • I am entering my senior year and talked to my recruiter and i am enlisted at the age of 17 in the USAF. I plan to go to pararescue. nice video

  • I coming over to the states in two weeks, hoping to meet my friends single friend in MO, fed up of being in the UK. Really keen to serve in USAF.

  • when i made my decision on joining the US Military i was having a hard time deciding which branch to choose. But this is what i have made my choice of wanting to be/do. I'm 29 y/old and i have a daughter. Which the Air Force Policies didn't accept me for being a single parent but i found out that the USAF Reserve will. so now I'm preparing myself b4 hand by jogging and swimming at my aunts pool for at least 25 mins a day. I'm trying my best so that i can be physically and mentally Ready b4 i go.

  • If you're not an American citizen, you can still join the U.S. military, any branch, as long as you have a Green Card. I would contact your embassy to double check on how to go about getting one if you're serious.

When I was in basic training a girl received her citizenship the day before we graduated. She was a Russian citizen before that day.

  • Thats not totally true. Some jobs in the US Military require you to either be born a US citizen or have lived in the US for 4 years or more. It all depends on your job, its requirements, and if you are an Enlisted or an Officer. You can not join any branch in the US Military with JUST a Green Card. You must be a "documented and accepted" US Citizen. What you said is all false, and the US Military would not allow her to start the Basic Training.

  • I was much too general in my statements. The specific citizenship requirement for Pararescue is you must be male and a U.S. citizen.

I am correct about any person being able to join the U.S. military, any branch, as long as they are in possession of a visa or green card (certain jobs excluded obviously). Federal law prohibits non citizens from being commissioned or becoming a warrant officer. Bottom line, don't take my word for it, talk to a recruiter to see if you qualify.

  • Being too general again, needed to clarify that certain non citizens from hostile countries would require a waiver to enlist. So, technically, not "any non citizen in possession of a visa or green card" would qualify.

  • hmm... im 16yro & iv been in d US for 8-9yrs but not a Citizen, Citizen in Trinidad & Tobago.

    Pararescue 1st Priority in USAF

  • Comment removed

  • ill be in the air force in 4 years :D

  • is it possible for me to join the pararescue if i live in australia im 15 atm any chance in the world

  • blakeblake321 the only way you could join our military is if you are a citizen of the usa

  • In other words, move to the US and Get a citizenship status and its possible....If you wanna go PJ though then you have some high hopes bud....anything is possible but high hopes..If you make it that far i wish you luck and if you ever get to PJ training just remember...."PAIN IS ONLY TEMPORARY QUITING IS FOREVER"!

  • I just got sworn in today, with any luck that'll be me.

  • this video is SO much better with Likin Park-numb as the music. i played it and the video went along with the song perfectly

  • great video I from chile amazing¡¡¡¡

  • How old are some of these clips? Some of these guys are probably crusty MSgts by now. Great video though, motivating to wannabes.

  • Hmmmm..... about 5 years ago.

  • my son is 9 years old and this is what he whats to do when he grows up and this video helped alot to show him what he would do. he loves it :)

  • I liked the original song

  • One of the best videos on YouTube

  • Thank You
