Everywhere in Japan during their real estate bust in the late 80s, you see people committing suicide. Why? Inflation was unbearable as you said, but the COST of LIVING is also very very high. People lost money and could not sustain everyday living. China on the other hand has 87% living below modern standards such as the US or EU nations, so the hit will not be detrimental.

I brought up Xinjiang because you wanted to discuss Tibetan mistreatment of Muslims. The issues are linked really. You have 2 regions that had their own unique and independant culture, history and identity. But because long gone former emperors sent armies to these other regions and claimed them in the past you assert that this gives you a claim over these lands and people for all time. The Uighers and Tibetans are not Chinese, have no desire to be Chinese. they are linked.
Why do you have as much right exactly? Only because of armies, not the fact that Han have lived in those lands for all of Chinese history. You know very well that the Han migrating into these regions are simply colonisers, and on a massive scale. Any person with common sense can look at the numbers of Tibetans and Uighers compared to the massive population of Han and forsee what will happen. It might take a few generations, but those minority peoples will be absorbed.

There is a good reply regarding the myth of Muslims being persecuted in old Tibet on the nybooks website from a Tibetan. Muslims were invited in to Tibet by the 5th Dalai Lama who gave them land Lhasa for a Mosque and a burial ground (such persecution!!) and also points out that there are some Hui in the Tibetan government in exile. The Dalai Lama is not the official head of the Geluk, that is the Ganden Tripa who the dalai lama appoints lol.

The Dalai Lama was the leader of the Tibetan government, the head of the tibetan people. He had major authority in the Geluk. The Rime movement did a great deal to end secular devisions, most Tibetan monks I have met have studied in all four schools.They look at the head of their branch of Tibetan Buddhism as the head of their faith,they look at the Dalai Lama as the head of Tibetans in general. Everywhere in Japan during their real estate bust in the late 80s, you see people committing suicide. Why? Inflation was unbearable as you said, but the COST of LIVING is also very very high. People lost money and could not sustain everyday living. China on the other hand has 87% living below modern standards such as the US or EU nations, so the hit will not be detrimental.

His supporters rallied more to their cause as the Comunist promises to regain lost Chinese lands lost under the Qing. You have 2 regions that had their own unique and independant culture, history and identity. Lastly, like many Chinese you pat yourself on the back because China has changed Tibet's infrastructure, at least in the last few decades. European powers could have done the same thing in areas of China they occupied, including the land you sit on. Perhaps you should hand Hong Kong back to the British since they did so much to build up it's infrastructure! Tibet should hav been allowed to find its own way out of poverty, just like china was eventually allowed to do.

They have no bias as long as they have control. Secularism is a government that is seperate from religion, not in charge of it. Churches must be regulated and controlled, look at the Catholic issue. Lookm at the house church phenomenon. Look at how they limit the number of monkes in a monastery. That isn't secular rule from a non biased government, that is rule by a government that must be in charge of religion, control it and limit it.

aside from the fact that old tibet DID persecute Muslims living in tibet (the Hui people i believe), dalie is NOT even the head of tibetan buddhism. he's not even the head of the yellow hat sect, which is just one sect of tibetan buddhism that he's in.

There is a good reply regarding the myth of Muslims being persecuted in old Tibet on the nybooks website from a Tibetan. Muslims were invited in to Tibet by the 5th Dalai Lama who gave them land Lhasa for a Mosque and a burial ground (such persecution!!) and also points out that there are some Hui in the Tibetan government in exile. The Dalai Lama is not the official head of the Geluk, that is the Ganden Tripa who the dalai lama appoints lol.

The question is was it widespread and did it come from the leadership? The same thing is happening there that is happening in Tibet. Foreign Han are moving in mass to a region that had never been a Han region. Like Tibet, when it was under the rule of past dynasties it was a distant relationship. Now everything has changed.

The Dalai Lama was the leader of the Tibetan government, the head of the tibetan people. He had major authority in the Geluk. The Rime movement did a great deal to end secular devisions, most Tibetan monks I have met have studied in all four schools.They look at the head of their branch of Tibetan Buddhism as the head of their faith,they look at the Dalai Lama as the head of Tibetans in general. He is dealing with the Geluk school when he is dealing with Shugden, the other schools dimiss shugden

It's a joke? and you know this from your experiences within tibetan Buddhism do you??If you did I would expect you to know it was a movement that began in the 19th century,not by the exiled Dalai Lama and his "clique".The DS issue inflames divisions and incourages one sect to look down on the other 3,it's followers having attacked the other schools,especially the Nyingma, in the past.The other schools embrace Rime, many Geluk do as well, but the DS issue splits them apart. No wonder you love it.
