Having a midi-controlled setup simplifies things greatly, it doesn't complicate them, and affords a huge amount of tonal versatility. I love the fact that you give Yngwie as an example; not only does he use a midi-controlled rig, he feels the need to take 30 marshall heads around with him, and uses a wall of Marshall cabinets. If that's not a gimmick, I don't know what is. JP is a varied player; Angus Young has one sound, anyway, so he doesn't need a versatile rig, so it's an absurd comparison.

Yes, he does, I agree, it's surprising. I'd love to find the video in which he demoed it again. He does use his OD pedals as well on the floor, but he has a Bradshaw switcher. From the demo, I think it only controls his G-Force, or whatever processor he uses, for delays/harmonizer. Haha, cheers.
