  • inspires me to live a life that's completely free

  • what more can you say about this band but....AWESOME! stop by my page I've got some cool vids and more to come

  • wauwauwau geht's

  • this night will live onn forever in my head....no lie there was at any given time like 20,000 glowsticks in the air, blew my mind...single greatest show ive evr seen....this coming from a metal fan...if you ever get the chance to see this band DO IT, you will smile for a week strait!!!!!

  • @sxrider4700 if you dont like weed whats the point

  • @sxrider4700 fuck glowsticks... its music not a high school party

  • @sxrider4700 Wow - that is quite a statement! Good to hear - I saw them for my first time in 97 and have seen them whenever they come relatively close to the midwest. Such a great experience to hear new people raving about them. Glad you could join us! Cheers!

  • "I can say these two bands are incredibly influential"

Never thought of them as being that influential. I've been seeing Phish since 97 and i own thousands of albums by other artists all across the spectrum, maybe 2 or 3 of which were influenced by Phish. I'm not trying to knock them by any means, but if you look at the trends in contemporary music over the last 15 years, Phish didnt really factor into any of them. That said, there are tons of artists out there who you would never expect to

  • give Phish props but do. The way Phish's fans worship the music and completely cut loose while watching it is something most any artist would kill for. I've seen great live music from Sonic Youth to Slayer to Squarepusher to Daft Punk to Delorean and nothing does it for me like a Phish show. When they're on, the energy is just indescribable.

I'm glad that they gave us the "weekend festival"- being able to see wide varities of music while camping with thousands of strangers is the greatest ever

  • ive never heard phish play before, people say they suck but after hearing this theyre not bad

  • I appreciate Phish haters. They're too goddam popular as it is - try getting a ticket!

  • @AuntMartha i guess it depends on where you are. Got ticket for charlottesville for 10 bucks, Portsmouth for 15 (and that venue only held 6,500 people!) and 10 bucks at Merriweather. Thought i'd push my luck to Jones Beach but I'm glad I didnt since apparently tix were going for up to 200-300 bucks! Thought Phish had lost some popularity, but with Furthur on tour at the same time, it made sense- only so many people to go around!

SO Great hearing this band play with passion and clarity again!!

  • chalkdust! I like 'em

  • fuck yeah wasnt lookin forward to phish at all but man i got there and saw them live and they fucking blew my mind!!! happy to say im a phish fan now

  • @dannymac92 Thank god haha. People just way overlook them.

  • great song and vid but why so short? I got some full length phish songs from bonnaroo on my profile...

  • Anyone else at this show notice large groups of people (had low profile earpieces and mics) pushing their way around through the crowd like assholes?

  • so cool, trey is the man, we no no tawky poly-tics at phish musicanamerama, but uh trey is almost as cool as b obama,

  • i cant beleave they played custaroo. o well they made up for by festie 8 and nye run .

  • what song is this

  • @uno1poono chalkdust torture

  • yata yata yata & yata

  • Look, even Barack is original

  • i wasnt gettin offensive about obama, i was just using it as the analogy as it applies to the phish

  • I also have not said that phish has a weak performance on stage. There is nothing about them that is orignial.

  • Dude, I did not question his job performance or his policies. I was just simple making a comparison. Why did you get so offensive on his part.

  • Just as I will never understand why people would ever listen to country or hip-hop, those people may never understand why I listen to Phish, Widespread, String Cheese, etc. As Ben Harper said in "Burn one Down", "...Your choice is who you chose to be, and if you're causing no harm you're all right with me.."

  • Phish rocks and i love music

  • Dude I am just saying that there are a lot of bands that are better that phish. Saying that they are the best band ever is like saying Barack Obama is a black man and, If you did not vote for him you are a racist.

  • no that analogy follows more along the lines of the argument that you are making..im saying if you didnt vote for obama thats okay, just dont question the ability he has to perform his job just because you dont like his policies

  • Phish is not that good. If you think that this is the best band ever you do not listen to much music. This music is like the gratefull dead tribute band. The gratefull dead was not that great of a band. I can see that there is some talent but it just goes nowhere for me.

  • Comment removed

  • its not that phish isnt good, its just that you dont understand it..they are not for everyone which is fair..but dont question the quality of the music because it isnt to your liking. these guys are master musicians with an unmatchable ability to improvise. no other band that i know of has the ability to create the energy that they can, and i know alot about music..maybe if you saw them play live you would understand

  • hit the nail on the head my friend

  • The Hammer is made out of jello

  • Just because they don't get you off, doesn't mean they are not a good band. Phish is not a Dead tribute band, they don't sound anything like each other. Both Phish and The Dead are musical powerhouses, but that's as far as it goes. I listen to a lot of music, and I can say these two bands are incredibly influential

  • @luckybuddha12 Those are the typical outsiders loking in that say that. They have a similar following but their music is different. Most Deadheads have a good taste for talented jam bands so a lot of them gravitate to phish . Their music cooks really hard. I love 'em both ,my brother too

  • front row in the pit. most brutal shit ever played live. i was there and tripped my nuts off, set for life

  • i was front row pit friday too. it was ILL!

  • dude this shit was outta this world. able to transport you on the level of deep meditation. we love you phish

  • I was about 30 feet back in the pit. Stage left. The guy next to me was a professional photographer with passes and stuff. But I didnt ask who he was working for. I went into a un-voluntary trance a few times during the show. Because of the lights and music. It was like I was being pulled emotionally from every angle that I possibly could be. Very intense. I do remember someone saying "Dude! There's 80,000 people behind us." That kinda put the whole thing into perspective, for me.

  • I've been since 04 and Phish killed Friday and totally made Sunday like a Saturday night performance. Best Bonnaroo Ever! Still have Nine Inch Nails in my head! Like the NIN song "Gone, Still" I am still there.

  • Chest Dankwell, I second everything you say ver batim. Absolutely stunning performance. Friday shows at Bonnaroo I've been to: Tool, Metallica, Phish. Phish was the best (not by much, but stil...)

  • All I can say is TEAM FACE! Who knows what I'm talkin about.... ;)

  • this was my 5th time seeing phish! the glowstick war was fuckin awesome!

  • That was my first phish show-- i thought that was something they did normally. regardless, it was fucking sick

  • it happens pretty regularly now, it just just really really big at bonnaroo, like nothing i've ever seen

  • yeah phish has the livest crowd around.

    best band ever

  • I have seen hundreds of bands live. This is the best show I have ever seen period. Phish on tape does them no justice at all. They rocked it (the show) harder than any other band, ever. I was planning on leaving to see P.E. but Phish was just so badass that I couldnt leave. Highway To Hell and, a Day In The Life. Free was AMAZING. And when they started beat-boxing and making all those weird noises it just blew my mind. I went into the the show expecting some hippie bullshit. Not So!

  • Best show of my life too. Friday was so epic. Played all my favorite phish songs. it was my 21st birthday too and I was with my best friends. Can't get any better.

  • @ChestDankwell I saw them 6/27/'10 @ Merriweather and it was a wild ride! Worth the trip. Can't wait to see them again. Talented. They're saying it was THE show of this tour.

  • @ChestDankwell That was EXACTLY my experience. I was like oh, whatever, some bullshit hippie jam band... Rode the ferris wheel after David Byrne, trippin face on some real clean L, decided to check out Phish... FACEMELT

  • starting out with chalkdust torture was amazing. but being billboard you think you'd get a better spot to shoot from.

  • i agree with this guy...al green lol

  • I had an incredible time during Phish, they changed my perspective on music. I'll never forget this show. :D

  • What is the name of this Song?

  • chalkdust torture

  • fuckin sick song

  • I was looking forward to this show, but phish was so corny, im sorry but this was the lamest show at bonnaroo(surprised this video isnt 2 minutes of actual song and 20 minutes of the same lame jamming during every other song.)

  • OOO man your gonna get eatin alive for that comment when you make fun of Phish those people become pirhana's....

I liked Beasties and Oakenfold best, Jimmy Buffet was also a great way to get wasted at noon again!!

But to defend Phish, "A Day in the Life" was a great thing to sit through.

  • Posted a video response of the whole song from the outer pit railing. Phish was awesome.

  • dont compare roo and rothbury its like comparing bananas and apples, two totally different festivals

  • hey guys, just heard of this really sweet contest that billboard is having on their website. Theyre looking for 10 people to stream live music straight from their phone, if youre chosen you can get a free AT&T phone and then compete for 2 tickets to any concert anywhere in the country!! Its so easy too I highly recommend you all apply by the june26th deadline

  • mike gordons on tour.... leave the kids at home ;)

  • I soooo wish I could've gone to Roo and believe me it was killin' me....but since I could'nt afford to do it all this summer I had to choose the best festie for me and that my friends is ROTHBURY! Rothbury is totally going to blow it off the charts & make up for it! I'm gonna be out there shakin' it Sugaree with you CandyJobird ~ C U there!! woohoo!!!

  • Haha, amen to that. I'll be there

  • Yea Broo was fun. Wish I could make it to Rothbury. I have friends that live near there so Maybe next year!

  • The video was really poor quality for billboard, my cellphone has better pics. Most awesome show I've seen at Roo yet, by far. The only thing to top this last weekend will be my trip to Rothbury. I plan on shakin it to SCI, Girl Talk, and The Dead all weekend long! Come to Michigan and party with us!!!!!!

  • I made it to 2nd row right in front of Trey with the first notes of Highway to Hell. Best night of my Life, until Sunday. Front row Page. PIT Front. Thank you Phish thank you to all of my friends that I have traveled with along the way. Mine eyes have seen the glory!

  • I was so fuckkkked up for this show. 2 doses, 20 mg 2cb, 2 rolls, 2 tenth of molly... had a greatttt time

  • Good Lord Man.....lol.....

  • 2cb at a festy? nightmare, did you shit your pants?

  • Nah, it was actually really smooth. Got a little rough in between shows though. I went to Pretty Lights and Girl Talk after Phish ended.

  • coooooolll maan!

  • nice seeing trey with a smile :)

  • mushrooms were my best friend that night to aid in a truly phenomenal performance!!!

  • wow....does Billboard just let anyone film for them...that was horrible....I could have done a much better job....

  • what an amazing show that was! rolling

  • hey does anyone know what their first song was? "i've got a blank space where my mind used to be"? that was the best night of my entire life, that show was out of this world. those lights and all the glowsticks!!!!! ahhhh

  • the opened the first show with chalkdust torture.. this song

  • the lyrics you're quoting are from "Stealing Time from the Faulty Plan," which was their second song of the night, a new one.

  • Wow. Mike looks like he has no eyes... Crrrrrreeeeeeepppppyyyyy!!

  • screw bonnaroo, phish need their own fest

or at least bonnaroo should allow one day passes

  • they do :)

  • dont hate, festivals are the best way to see any band.. I would gladly pay 250 for every phish show if it came with camping, vendors, golf cart taxi's, comedy tents and movies during the day in the AC, 100+bands, etc. GA gives you a chance to expand your musical tastes and knowledge, and get close.I find it hard to believe that a Phish fan wouldnt enjoy a 4day shakedown street. Get a clue or 250 bucks, go to a music festival without Phish on the bill, and then tell me how much fun it was.

  • aright noob i have been there done that. i love festivals just not the roo now if youre looking for a real fest check rothbury brah. wow you would pay 250 for every phish show for a shakedown st. theres a shakedown @ every phish show custy. Be there for the music, youre probably the one watching everyone else dance their asses off. HAHAH roo is far from expanding my musical tastes

  • "Brah", that real festival you are speaking of has been around for ONE year...and it would be ZERO years of there was no Bonnaroo. I guess the Dave Matthews headlining spot last year much have been the clincher. And you're talking about been there done that? Who's the noob?

  • Comment removed

  • You really think Roo started it all? Its just the big one in the southeast. And seem to recall Dave and Panic headlining Roo for several years. Give me Dead, Cheese, swimming, Sherwood forest and WOW! And obviously didnt go last year with those headliners. Sounds like someones holding onto roo security blanket, go explore a little

  • oh shut up.. bonnaroo was fun.. i was at rothbury last year and clearly it was a better festival but we are all neighbors here on planet earth stop comparing

  • just setting some facts straight for wizzo. crystal if you have fun thats all that matters just not my deal. thats all i was saying. people take offense way too easily. everyone coooooll out. nothing to be upset about with all the love from phish, dead, and cheese, GREAT summer, hoping continues into fall

  • they were amazing.

  • I couldn't have picked a better show to trip balls for. God bless you, Phish.

  • ditto.

i've never tripped at any show before, so i was unsure how it would work out.

did 2 doses & it was fucking beyond phenomenal.

  • only 2 man. i was on like 4 or 5 at the beginning of Phish. Enhances the experience quite a bit huh. I'm actually followin em so I'm on a drug break for a couple days. Straight trippin for 2 weeks now. Beastie Boys show was a blast too.

  • man lil wayne is talented... lmao

  • Trey is happy.

  • because he is finally sober!! :)

  • I WISH I was there... That looks absolutely amazing, and the crowd was going insane, they have definitely missed Phish!

    Hope this keeps going! :-)

  • on fuckin point boys

  • soundin' good boys!

  • Welcome home boys!

  • I love it!

  • PHv3.0

  • and im liking the update from PHv2.0
