hey R, Live Rock from a saltwater environment is only good in a saltwater environment. I am sure you could find Live Rock that came from a Freshwater environment to use in a Freshwater application.
hey jim do you know n e were in england that sells acrylic square saltwater tanks 60 70 gallon or places in the us that ships to england thank ross oh and check out my vids of my tanks and other peoples i know
hey A, obviously I am biased, but I do believe that many of the corals offered today are tank-raised frags which has much less an affect of coral reefs.
@lafishguy Yeah, with some corals, only people in aquariums might have these living wonders, so i actually think that having reef aquariums, the Ocean Preservation Society should give some benefits, cause in a sense, your "Storing" corals, if in three years a specific coral dies, only left in home aquariums, theses still hope. Or if people raised corals, and gave coral frags to be seeded in the ocean, and the OPS gave benefits for that, That would be awesome!
hey E, if you want to encourage it add Strontium and a rocj with coraline algae on it already. some tanks grow it fast, others are much slower at growing it. check your CA and ALK as well.
hi jim its brandon again. the guy with the algae problem. lol im takin ur advice and upgrading my filtration cause you said that i had reef lighting but not reef filtration. is a canister filter suitable because i cant afford a wet dry trickle
I had a chocolate chip star that was fine for about a year and then one day decided it liked the taste of coral and chewed through a quarter of my tank before I noticed. In my opinion...not reef safe.
cant wait till part 3 jim. im a new subscriber but ive watched all your videos and you have been a great help in starting my tank up and getting it goin. i dont have any corals yet but do you have any suggestions on what to get first?

Do you need a refrigeration unit on a reef tank?
ObviouslyAwsome 1 year ago
hey O, depending on the size and number of pumps and lights you may need a chiller to maintain a steady water temperature.

But is a canister filter acceptable for a reef tank?
brandon3135 1 year ago
hey B, a canister filter is NOT a wet-dry trickle filter and does not do the same job.... if thats all you have access to then try it.
