@sasoukky well the anthem is beautiful, but the Philippines is a pretty backwards country full of corruption and problems. Unless you have a considerable amount of money (if you do, you can live quite well), you probably don't want to go there. There is an amazing amount of economic stratification and tons of impoverished people.

1.) Marcos' money is actually his, not the country's. He deposited them before he got to president.
2.) After Marcos' time, Philippines fell from grace. We were 3rd in terms of economics in Asia and the most literate in asia.
3.) Many of the Philippines' infrastructure was projects of Marcos' time, like San Juanito bridge.
4.) Crime was low in his time.
5.) TORTURE?! He let Noynoy go to America for medical treatment and warned him about the threat on his life.

I'm a Hongkonger, and I love Philippines very much because it brings us so much fun - Night in Manila, Diving in Cebu, Durian in Davao... Even I did not hate the Filipinos after the Manila hostage. I was there a month ago before the hostage and there was very peace and safe. President Aquino is the real murder. Filipinos are kind and friendly. Some Filipinos have come to HK to be a domestic helper, so they are the real hostages that is always bullied by HK people. love Philippines!
