flashing comes from a video effect (fade in, from white) and then you can split the clip if you hit a button right below the screen that looks like a divider, it's right next to the camera.

cuz the clips were so short. and windows movie maker is so pathetic that it can't save that. so i had to split my movie into sixths, and then combine them so that it only had to save six clips.
