  • Peter's fingering technique is just the shittiest I've ever seen, weird he doesn't feel inhibited by it. You can hear it in the solos that it sounds really static and weird because of the way he plays. :\ Glad he's not in the band anymore, Mikael should've done all the solos. :)

  • so opeth is pretty much akerfeldt's musical child?

  • Does anyone know what Hihats and Ride Martin is using?

  • I love Opeth so much....

  • When I first watched that Making Of I started crying when Mikael smiles during Bleak :')

  • Now this, is a band. Long live Opeth.

  • So does anyone know if they have the drums played to a click track, or Lopez just plays the track? Also, when the guitar is playing an you can hear the backing, I assume the guitar is straight into the board.

  • whats the song at 5:49 - sounds sickk

  • @2Koranteng Bleak!

  • @treaf09 thanks xD

  • is it me or does mikhael have a pretty huge head?

  • @pantalaemon I have a theory that large heads allow for more resonance and therefore make for richer, deeper voices. If you look at a lot of great singers you'll see they have enormous heads.

I have no evidence to back up this theory. It's basically a thing I made up.

  • @Sodhats mhm... quite interesting :P after having seen mikael speak in interviews and on stage, i can confirm, he does have an enourmous head. i think its also enormous because of the amounts of brilliant musical diarrhea he forces out of there every 2 years. Opinions of Devil's Orchard by the way? I was skeptical, but it hacked my brain after a day...

  • Is that Steven Wilson saying "close" at 4:55? =D

  • i'll say it: Peter Lindgren's playing wasn't good enough to be in Opeth. He has no feeling

  • God, Lopez is a fucking amazing drummer.

  • swedish sounds funny and I am convinced german does as well :D

  • "people seem to believe that I'm sitting in a forest with my guitar praying to the moon". that would be awesome if Mike actually did write songs that way.

  • 3:48 ha I love how happy he is ha ha. Look at his face "Moon child"

  • This makes me miss this formation of the band, a lot. This will likely always be the classic, most special formation of Opeth.

  • That part in Bleak when the clean vocals come in is one of the most beautiful and badass pieces of music I've ever heard in my life. The riff is awesome, the drumming and rhythms are tight, the vocals are great, what else do you possibly want in a song?

  • So, I'm going to guess that Iron Maiden helped inspire this album? That would explain why he's mentioning Moonchild.

  • @Bassbait Well, like Mikael said in an interview, stuff like Iron Maiden and other metal they've listened in their youth will always be on the back of their mind when they're writing music, and then they just add elements from other genres like prog, which is what makes their music so special.

  • @Bassbait If you hear Moonchild from Iron Maiden you will see that is similar to that part of Blackwater Park. It´s funny...

  • @Bassbait The part where the distorted guitars come in in Moonchild is very similar to the part of Blackwater Park he's listening to when he says "Moonchild".

  • Wow. Mike's changed.

  • 7:20 - 7:30

One of the best transitions ever!

  • @valleisetesdal Is this part at 7:18 from a particular song on 'BP' or is he just fiddling around?

  • @ciffi It's from the song Bleak, middle acoustic part ;)

  • lol mikael singing moonchild

  • Song at 1:59?

  • @ImAStupidBoy Blackwater park, the title track, and @englundisgod the solo is from the funeral portrait

  • @ImAStupidBoy Blackwater park

  • @englundisgod The Funeral Portrait

  • thanks i realised that after a while, a little hard to spot at first with all the multi tracking

  • Damn, when I see Mikael playing at 7:19 I want to give up playing guitar XD

  • Thanks for the upload. I had the album already, so I don't want to buy it just to see the making of.

    Thank you once again!!

  • @Cysquatching The Legacy Edition also includes 5.1 mixes of all the songs. :)

  • @Deathshuck Right, and a live version of Leper Affinity on the cd. I know... maybe one day, when I get my hands on a low priced copy, I might just buy it.

    Thank you though

  • 2:51 - Mikael is referring to the riff in the song "Moonchild" on Maiden's Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son album.

  • @mule71 Oh? Thanks for the info. :)

  • @Deathshuck Thanks for the upload. I won't be getting my copy until NYC VIP. :) Can't wait.
