only had this peice of shit for 5 months and it gave me so many problems

freezes alot. worse battery life

This is a terrible, terrible phone. The battery life sucks, the touch screen is difficult, it freezes and lags, and just today it crashed and deleted all my stuff. DO NOT GET THIS PHONE! It seems great at first but then it becomes terrible

I have this phone, and I use the Swype keyboard. This phone lags sometimes, but it is totally usable. I chose this over the droid because its way better!! The regular keyboard doesn't really lag either

@cstan8t8 I used to only use physical keyboards and would stay away from virtual ones until I got my hands on the Eris's keyboard. No question, the Eris keyboard is the best virtual keyboard on the market. It kicks my old iPhone's ass... this entire phone does for that matter lmao. You can't say a virtual keyboard is better than a physical one though, and vice versa, because it's all based on preference. I do prefer virtual now though.

this Phone sux, i switch over to to my wife's carrier and ofcourse i had the IPHONE man i miss my iphone. this is a wanna be, the touch the transition from screens is a pain in the ass, and the texting is not good. stay away.. maybe if the nexus one comes along i'll get it

You can check out some of the apps currently available for the Android platform by going to google and searching "Android Market". Not a huge selection of "quality" apps yet, but there's such necessities as Pandora, Facebook, and the like.

This is a nice phone, I've had one for about 2 weeks. I would like to see LONGER BATTERY LIFE!!! other than that it's an ok phone. Waiting for the Android 2.1 update!!! Then the phone will have a bit more value in my mind. I give it a 3 out of 5 stars as of now.

technically no. there is no lock button on this phone like there is on the ipone but the power button acts along the same concept

yes you can unlock it like a ipod touch/iphone but you must download a app that will provide you with the lockscreen. most are free and you can have a custom one like sliding up then down then side to side ect. hope that helps rvalenzuela29!

a data plan is required. data plans start at 30.00 a month on top of any plan you may be using.

@nubbytubbys It's not 30.$ more a month... Since you already have email and net access it'll remove that and add the 3G SmartPhone Data Plan which will be 30.00$ a month but is really only 10-14$ more then the Unlimted Net/Email plan for normal phones. I just ordered my Droid tonight.

Uhh the only way it would be more per month, would have to be a different network. What the Eris allows you to do is access infinite amounts of emails instead of the set amount of 11 for other smart phones.

Put your finder over the app and after a couple seconds you will; be able to move the app and at the bottom it says remove, hover the app over that

I bought the phone last saturday. I pay $59.99/month for the voice + unlimited text/pic messaging plan, plus $29.99/month for web access and data download. It will be about $110/month. Phone works well. Not as intuitive as the phone but I'm glad I chose this over Apple's phone (I already have an ipod touch).

it doesn't have vznavigator, it has google maps navigation and when it gets the upgrade to 2.0 it will have spoken turn by turn google maps navigation

Ya, I believe that date was given for the Moto Droid, IDK if a date was given for the Eris I hope both of Verizons phones get it that date...you wont be disappointed with the Eris it was very very hard for me to choose at the store, I love the HTC Sense skin, thats the only thing I dont like about my Moto Droid, I want that clock/weather widget thats on the Eris.

I really wanted this phone; it has everything I would want, but the battery life for talking is 3.5 hours. I can't deal with such a short battery life, so I think I'll go with the Motorola Droid, although the Eris is great otherwise.

yes. you take the photo and put it on footprints while you are at the location of the photo, and footprints remembers that location (like sticking a pin in a real map)

Droid Eris vs. Droid

I played with both in the Verizon store and I'm getting this one. The Droid has a nice screen, but its bulky as hell & the slide out keyboard is annoying. The only thing better to me is the 2.0, and I heard that its coming to the Eris in early 2010 anyways. Plus the price is only 99 bucks...can't pass that up. Couldn't try the Eris browser, but looks pretty good on Youtube so far.

Get the Eris, I just got it today free after rebate since my contract was up and they offered $100 upgrade on phones plus the extra $100 rebate. Compared to my LG Dare this thing blows it away. The capacitive touch screen on the Eris is superior to the crap resistive screen on the LG Dare its not even funny. The LG dare is a POS. I gave mine away for free today to a relative.

i just played with the motorola droid and the htc eros droid.

The motorola is sort of laggy with 2.0 compared to the smoothness of the eros.

The eros, with htc's skin is smooth and fast..

Plus the eros's camera is waaaay quicker at taking pics and saving them.

I hope that there is a big fix for the motorola droid to speed up the ui.

Lots of advantages. First, it is on Verizon's network with the Largest 3G network. Also, Android is going to Explode next year as every hardware manufacture and carrier is going to be carrying Android phones.

Looks like a great phone. I think the fact that you have multitouch web browsing is a HUDGE advantage for HTC. I have a Blackberry Storm and like it but would definetly consider this as my next phone.
