@foonty i never said that humans are 100% made up of sand.. we are made up of water sand and many other elements and Quran says that also.. we cant throw deads in water or air, the only possible and rational idea is to bury them.. although burning the body is not the only cause of pollution but it is one of the factor and we have to quit all of them.. in graveyard the old graves which are totally disintegrated can be reused..

One reason is that leaving islam is "apostasy", punished by death. It's really scary. Many muslims wants to show that they are "true muslims" by being fundamentalists, to avoid being accused for apostasy. Many are afraid of their own realtives who can kill them if they act un-muslim.
