You seem smart enough to know that any negative feedback is silly because your video is very helpful and I among countless others are greatful for your time and instruction. Thanks bro!
but if you use AUdelay and set it to 0.3509 it sounds much better and you dont have to jump through all the hoops, with the sustain peadal. this is especially usefull if you have garageband 08
Good video but you forgot something. The Edge uses his gear in stereo, he puts his mics in different places around the scene and it does the "second delay". So if you really want the exact sound that The Edge uses, you have to use a 2nd delay.
If you agree just let me put a video comment (my video of course) which explain that (sorry it's in french) ;)
hey Lewin! you are amazing! ive learned evrything i know about garageband from you. ans i love U2, so i loved this video! 5/5. could you please make a vid on how to play the rest of the song, in detail...??? i hope so.
At the 7:41 mark you slide up from what looks like a D note to another note, what note are you sliding up to? I'm a novice could you please tell me the finger/fret position for this note?
Great job man, but you must use middle and bridge pickups, not only the bridge one...in order to get a more clear sound you must reduce BASS sounds and...I think you need more gain....try and let me know if it sounds better
On the dd-20 I use modulated mode, 357ms dotted 8th, level turned all the way up, feedback at 10 o'clockish, rate at 50% and depth at 65%. I mix it up with rate and depth though.
woa thats weird i had the flew too. thanks man, first U2 song iv learned. awesome riff. but ive got finals this week, so unfortunately i cant watch any more until thursday :(
0:15 to 0:19 What the hell was that - your "Hi, I'm the Edge - AND a serial killer" look ? LOL. Then you break out into "Hey everyone!" - I had to laugh.
And you can use a second long delay to sort of thicken up the tone of the first.

So, I have a question. I just got the Boss DD-20 for Christmas. What setting should I have it on for this song?
calomie 2 years ago
set up 8 repeats at whatever tempo you are comfortable with. The key is 8 repeats.
GaragebandandBeyond 2 years ago
What bps would you recommend?
calomie 2 years ago
Start at around 100bpm and work your way up.
GaragebandandBeyond 2 years ago
@calomie
the right bpm is 126, 357 ms, dotted eight!
this web page is the "bible" of u2 setting:
edgewannabe(dot)net/recarchive/index(dot)html
joshua tree bpm
