they make a set of songs, like almost every artist does for he goes on stage, all of the songs are combined with a video. Then they use some strong software and a good VJ-controller to match their audio-mixing and effects with the video. So basically they are just mixing like every other dj, with the difference that they have the screen.

It´s by the way something almost everyone uses, but most artists only have some spotlights triggered on the rhythm of the bass for example.
