Like I posted earlier, El DeBarge's talent matches our mascot: A FURIOUS TIGER!!....Grrrrr! I am also ready for another episode of the reality series he had started.
I truly believe that the root of El's problems with drugs can be traced back to the death of his brother, Bobby, whom he had been very close with...I believe that Bobby's death affected El so much that turned to drugs to deal with it, in addition to turning to drugs to dealing with all the additional pressures that success brought...Ultimately, El's fame, success and money made it that much easier for him to access drugs and find other ways to escape the emotional pain of losing Bobby...Sad.
El Debarge is an exceptional talent...Like tsahaylu7, I too do not like when people use terms like, "light-skinned brother" in relation to El...We are human beings and some human beings happen to be of mixed ethinicity while some aren't...That doesn't matter, because we're all flesh and blood and, no matter the shade of our skin, we all have red blood running through our veins..Colour has messed up so many people and children are being influenced negatively because of colour comments..Just stop.
We all need more than just a second chance ... love knows no limits, and the same goes for the good fight. El recently, (in Feb.), cancelled his "Intimacy" tour and appearance at the Grammy's because he relapsed and checked back into a rehab facility ... it's a fight that lasts a lifetime, folks, and it's one that requires and endless amount of patience, understanding, forgiveness, and love, in order to get to the other side of that river. I know where you're at, El - I'm here if you need an ear
Love El and I'm so glad he's back, but I hate it when ANYBODY makes skin or sex or race or religion an issue for ANYTHING!! We are ONE race, man, the HUMAN race, and we've got to all become color blind or hate will WIN! Forget what's happened in the past ... all we have is now, and we are all unique creatures of a common bond and human race! How much better would the world be if we were all blind? God bless y'all, and God bless El for going through hell and back ... been there ... victorious..
i luv el...he keeps it real...down to earth.....beautiful vocals.....Second Chance is a beautiful song!....so is Lay With You with Faith Evans....lyrics ....wow....el can write some songs! and Faith's voice is beautiful...the duet is off the chain!

EVERYTHING i hear this dark skinned light skinned it gets on my nerves. Because it very ignorant and narrow minded to say the least. And it has to be insulting to El has well for his own people to reduce him to a skin tone and not appreciate his musical gift.

As if he doesn't know he's light skinned! I know that must get on his damn nerves cuz it get's on mine and i'm not even lightskinned, lol!
Yes, I'm tired of hearing this crap everywhere the man goes someone has to comment and say he's bringing light skinned men back or him being the king of light skinned brothers. Can the Men just sing and be FINE without someone saying something about his complexion.
A beautiful Men comes in many varieties. Some like to say he's bringing LS men back BUT Talented, attractive men are never out of style.
I think some folks say it out of there own insecurities
