ok i have heard this song MANY times, but could someone help me understand the lyrics? from what i understand, the girl and guy both killed themselves, but if there is something more than that, could someone tell me what it means?

Basically, the guy comes home to the girl cheating on him and leaves. The girl spends the rest of her life regretting what she did, watching in despair as he drinks himself to death (whether it was the alcohol or something else that killed him is not explained in the official video). The girl then falls into the same habit of drinking away her sorrows and eventually dies as well.

The phrase is, "put that bottle to (his/her) head and pulled the trigger," so it could be interpreted either way.
