Good bye shuttle. Thank you for all your hard work. Good bye manned space missions. The retarded bean counters of the Obama administration want to destroy the future.
by promoting capitalism and limiting government bureaucracy and interference with the aerospace industry? if aeronautics wasn't privatized, you'd have no commercial jets, just the super-rich flying on N.A.C.A propeller planes. if aerospace isn't privatized, space tourism will never get off the ground, other than for the super-rich.
Nasa! Please stop trying to go to mars or something try to achieve light speed. I know it hard to do but try if you guys get light speed you can go where ever you want! I want to see how the other galaxys are like before i die
congratulations to the crew, endeavour and MCC on an extremely successful mission delivering tranquility and opening up new windows to the universe through Coupla. It is great to see the crew safe and sound on the ground. the station is now 98% complete by volume and 90% complete by mass. Great Job!
awesome!!! but i'm so sad because the program has been cut and ended by the bammer.
no one will miss the space shuttle program as me ,i used to watch the launching and twelve or fourteen days later the landing, i didn't suffer the same problem like homer simpson. he doesn't like those...i'll miss so much the STS program!!!!
Hey! NASA cuando programen otro aterrizaje nocturno y que pase por Honduras avisen para poder ver la nave entrar a la atmósfera anoche fue fenomenal en Honduras.
They're venting the fumes from the engine that has been used for hydraulics. It uses toxic fuel, so it needs to be vented off before the crew can come out.
was a venting of the hydraulic systems and happened on every flight. It's just not noticed because the vast majority of flight landings happen during the daytime.

you know here in my country we heard a really loud noise! (Honduras, Central America)....i know it was because of the spaceship going faster than the speed of sound, but why was it going so fast?
Yeah, I believe that's from the auxiliary power unit. I've actually never seen the flames before because I've only seen video of daylight landings, but NASA usually has an infrared camera which picks up the bursts.
amazing.. goodjob guys! :)

Congratulations to the crew and the NASA ground support teams and all other teams over the world providing their support in the space program.

maksphoto78 1 year ago
The flames are caused by Auxiliary Power Unit exhaust.
TimeLapseSteve 1 year ago
@TimeLapseSteve
yeah.. it uses hydrazine powered APUs.
But the flames didnt seem so much like rocket exhaust.. But from their lack of reaction, looks like its routine!

Это выхлоп из вспомогательной силовой установки. Там токсичные газы, надо чтоб рассеялись. Днём "пламя" даже не видно.

"Endeavour Makes Safe Return"... But what about that flame at the top rear? Is that considered nominal?
fushigiotoko 1 year ago
was a venting of the hydraulic systems and happened on every flight. It's just not noticed because the vast majority of flight landings happen during the daytime.

Oh, I see. After posting my previous comment it crossed my mind that it could be something like that. Thanks for the information :)

What a beautiful machine. To be able to blast into space and then land on a runway.
I think it will be a mistake to retire these amazing vehicles.
MewFushisDad 1 year ago
Not really. They need to be replaced by something more appropriate. They just do low earth orbit.
