  • Daft Punk's first ever live show was held here.

  • this place was the dogs ******* - used to get over with mates from Bridlington loads of times - especially after they shut down Phenomenon and Cuba in Bridlington. Always used to have an argument with the little curly haired doorman on the way in - but always got in - One time went with new girlfriend and was psyched up for the usual argument all the way up the queue. When we got to the front he just said "Yeah you two are ok - in ya go"

NOOOO I WANT TO HAVE MY ARGUMENT . . . ARGGHHHHHH

  • had some proper mental nights in their let me tell you carnt remember if it was frank de wolf i saw or joey beltram one night it got quite messy lol

  • What a place :) such fond memories from gurning in the chillout room when it all got a bit too much to rocking my bollox off with shrooms and acid (crazy times!) and pulling the house bird that looked as fit as fook on the night only to discover she was twice my age!! oooops lovely lady tho :) no doubt we all saw who i'm talking bout?!! them shrooms have an effect even if the eyes pay the consequences!! would love orbit to come back right NOW :)

  • Truly was a magical place, would go as often as we could, seen some mad stuff in the temple of techno... The time the guy injected vodka over the road (even b4 he was in the place) & taken 2 hospital (Laurent G, 98?) & a guy on crutches, ravin, fallin & havin the time of his life!!! Truly awesome! Will hav 2 wait until I go 2 heaven 2 experience that again :) :( :)

  • SVEN VATH 1993 WAS SOMTHING ELE'S I AGREE THE 1993 SOUND WAS A STRONG INTELIGENT SOUND.

  • I hit the scene in the orbit in 1991-1999-2000

it was a power house in decibel paradize,42,000 hits lets get our own orbit club and open it up on new year and christmas eve that club had a great layout thunder base well ballanced sound system, the upstair balcony sounded sweet uv lights purple and tribal greens and camouflage nets above the wild card connected movers and shakers that danced in loved happyness,to the thursty hypnotic, delightful new electronical machines soundsl or ORBITAL HEAVEN

  • sven vath 93 best times

  • @ 1.38 oh yes

I can feel that pill smashin my head in and the speed makin me muthafuckin move

  • oh my god how had some amazing nights in the early 90's came from doncaster every weekendthen on to the redbeck cafe after, then on to ferrybridge or wooley hedge those were the days !!!!! the best nights ever would do anything to go back for one night and sit on the balcony

  • Gutted, live a stones throw away but been young at the time i never went apart from a school disco and there not quite the same! its just sitting there empty too.

  • Ah, happy days :) Thanks for sharing!

  • Spent many a Saturday night in this fantasic Temple Of Techno. Travelling up from Nottingham to see all the big guns of Techno play. Minimal is at the forefront at the moment, however Techno will return and when it does, it will truly represent the sound of the 21st century and that sound will be beyond your wildest dreams.

  • I know this is a mad idea, but can we start a group and all fans together, BUY THE ORBIT AND BRING IT BACK ALIVE. Check out FB page.

  • God i fuckin loved that place!!

  • I had only been once...It was amazing.

  • Bring back Orbit !!

Breaks my heart passing that empty failed restaurant everyday

  • the greatest club england ever had. great clips.

  • YES YES LOVED IT WAS ALL FUN

  • lots of sets available on the orbituary but they are still after more!

  • @ramshackles Whats the song during the rephlex bit?

  • @XenoPhear Sons of Piru - impure thoughts

  • Looking at the Orbituary website it is clear many people came for many miles to attend this club.... was reading a copy of Mixmag from 1993 and it states "one of only 3 clubs in the UK catering for real underground techno!

  • But you had to have been to the original Orbit in Ossett before the after dark Orbit, that was the original and before it ALL took off.

  • What i would give to have just one more night in the Orbit ...... The best memories ever !!

  • I could also cry when i watch this :-( The best techno club in the world and i miss it so much !!!!

  • Lots of Orbit memorabilia here:

  • ripped that first bit off carl cox

  • It's a restaurant now, I heard off someone

  • right rocking place even afterdark or was after dark b4 orbit same tunes same place rock on point to the skyeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • @sneakazz i remember madmike if i remember i think he was a mental nurse in real life (or so i was told) he had long hair like keith from the prodigy used to!!

still pass the services at hartshead and it bring back memories. was in there the other day .. alll very posh now!!

  • Travelled down to Orbit from Glasgow a few times around 93-94. Saw Dave Angel, CJ Bolland Colin Dale, Jeff Mills amongst others. The thing that still gives me the biggest smile is the memory of all the nutters on the staircases coming down to the dancefloor withone leg over the bannister raving like f*ck. What a club! Happy times.

  • @rollandsausage YES! That could be someone known as Mad Mike I think.

I used to fecking love the Orbit 93-94. Best days of my life. :)

  • @rollandsausage No such thing as health and fucking safety in those days!!!!!FANTASTIC FUN WAS HAD BACK THEN!!!

  • many gd djs rocked roof in that place gd times

  • The best of times :)

  • Minimal is absolutely vile. Bring back proper techno starting by reinstating this place.

  • @razmonger get to future past in leeds all proper techno from the 90's and early naughties

  • Great times.Overdrive!

  • 4:32 wish garnier still played that hard

  • i always come back for another little look n still get shivers when i read the comments. i don.t think anyone ever only went once, the orbit was as addictive as smack and i feel sorry for the young techno heads that'll never get to try it... respct to ramshackles for posting his films. the great club's gone but never forgotten.

  • Didn't discover Techno until this place was gone...heard only good things though.

  • Its was mental.

    I remeber going there.

And the thing was dance on the edge of the dance floor.

And Wait for the Drugs 2 kick in.

Then the Whole Place took off.

  • @Reddwarff29 When did this place close i think it was 2001-2002 not sure i was in prison at the time

  • Yeah its was 2002 I think.

They closed it down and built a bloody restaurant there.

    Shocking.

  • @robseven7 Shame had some of the best times there and no doubt you would have discovered techno with the best people around!!

  • :( gutted !!!!!!

  • fucking miss this place, we used to drive through from brid every weekend, then go to hart heads services!! i rememebr my firs ttime there and seeing people walk into the cafe door at the top of the stairs because it was glass no one saw . you never did it again after that!!

  • @markiejiggy1 my mate used to drive us through from kendal and back on the same night, we used to stop off at a service station on the way home too, it must have been that one. thanks to everyone that has posted tunes from this era, ive been glued to youtube for three days solid catching up with it all. thanks again everyone. what happened to techno...

  • I miss this place :(

  • Like the original Renaissance in Mansfield, you wouldn't even know it was there even looking straight at it, never went to the other Orbit night run concurrently..... somewhere else, that's how great Morley was. It meant something very special, and I only have one word to say in our defence. Schlammin'

  • The friendly door staff, the slammin system, the tightness and intimacy of the people and the place was incredible, went all the time, had a ball, was an Aussie in heaven there, at a great time to be in Britian with those glorious men and their flying machines, this particular flying machine was situated just off a road, in little old Morley,

  • Created an account just to share my crazy years at Orbit48..

Where to start, for 3 years (92-95) I danced and shared and loved and got seriously annihlated on that dancefloor. Beltram, Cj Bolland, Sven Vath, DJ Dag, Dave Angel, Marco Zaffarno, I Can't Remember, Robert Leiner, what a night,

  • That totally rox - always meant to go for years never went - used to go to Ark tho. Please let me know where the nearest equivalent, closest to Leeds similar place like that is

  • Hey! I used to go to the Ark too! I did go to the Orbit once and it was simply insane! I prefered the Ark though. Were you there when they kicked a heavy metal concert out at the same time as the rave crowd? bahahah. Memories :)

  • me and my mates used to come all way from anglesey to get off our tits i used to think that 10 mins after we got in the place took off into space and then all hell broke loose i had some of the best times of my life in there it was so freindly in there never had any trouble or seen any trouble in the 6 years we went .best night was dave angel we went back to a party with the von trapp family from bradford .its a shame ian passed away am shure alot of the regulars new him i love you all . peace

  • I Live round the corner from The Orbit. The buildings been empty for about 3 years now . . . isnt it time we got together and restarted this motherfucker?

  • Yeah, I drove past it the other day and thought exactly the same thing. I can only think that promoters and investors have moved on from what was probably not a good earner.

  • I was an orbit regular from 1998 till it shut in 2002/03. Been to Lost in London, Fabric, Tresor in Berlin, Razmatazz in Barcelona and other acclaimed Techno clubs world wide, Yet Nothing comes even close to the Orbit. Anyone who walked though its doors dare to argue?

  • I agree. Went to tresor and e-werk in Berlin. Nowhere ever matched this place for atmosphere. Simply the best club I ever went to. Used to love watching people still messily going for it after the lights had been turned on at 2am and the music had been turned off!!! Quality memories.

Climbing the stairs to the balcony bit all i could hear was my heart pounding. Nothing could prepare me for the pure sonic assault that was Orbit 48. The dodgy crowd were nothing but sound once we got in. I got a can of red stripe and before my mates could say fuck me this is some thing else i was off bouncing for the next 3 1/2 hours.

    R.I.P i miss you(pesky wine bars!)

  • Totally agree, saturday nights just haven't been the same since. I remeber the night when the Aphex Twin played very well. It was the only time the orbit ever stopped bouncing. Gutted!
