I have a nook color and an aluratek. I bought the aluratek and the nook color was a gift. I still use the aluratek. The nook is a burdensome POS! What a pain! Loading any epub is difficult and I have still been unsuccessful. My laptop only intermittently recognizes the nook but only by drive letter - not name. The Aluratek accepted files the first time I connected it. Save the planet - recycle nooks, or better yet, quit making them.

@Physicspilot  Ebooks come in all kinds of formats. EPUB and MOBI are the two most popular formats. MOBI is the format Kindle reads and EPUB is the format everyone else reads. This device can read those and a few more. Of the most importance are PDF and FB2 formats. The only popular format I don't see listed is .lit and that is because of Microsoft owning it and not wanting to share but if you had a .lit you want to read on this device you could convert it using Calibre.

I just got mine and read for 3 hours straight in daylight. It's not e-ink, but the text is fine at every angle, very little glare. You do need more external light than e-ink though.

Can anyone verify this "waterproof" claim? I can't seem to find that ANYWHERE other than this particular review, and no test from anyone dropping it into water and picking it back up. It's not on the box either.

haha she forgot to mention that this crappy "epaper" technology is just a normal monochrome non-backlit lcd just like on a pocket calculator, and has nothing to do with e-ink. So the angles will be shitty, battery life short and your eyes will probably hurt after a whie. Kindle nuke and sony, are best known for a reason.

What a rip off. Costs as much as the Amazon Kindle, and has cheaper hardware. You can read almost 24 hours on one charge? Well, with the kindle you can read almost a month on one charge and really looks like paper with E Ink (not LCD) screen. It lasts turned on so long, that it is shipped turned on with an introduction page. The new kindle even has free 3G wireless service with a browser. Libre is like a cheap wannabe Chinese I-pod that is priced at same price as real I-pod. Just poop.

Does this reader show photos in color? No mention of that. It obviously doesn't go online by itself - have to have a PC for that. Not a MAC I suppose. How long does it take to charge the batteries?? This little video sure left a lot of questions; but I guess it's just a simple reader that also allows you to hear music and pictures in black and white????

Guys, this LCD screen is non-backlit and unlike the LCD screen you use with your computer. It's more like the old Palm Pilot B&W screen but at a much higher resolution and with a much whiter background. It's designed to be easy on the eyes like e-ink screen.

I picked one of these up last week at Costco for a great price and it is awesome. Easy to start up, no issues with formats at this point and battery life is what they say. I bought a Sony PRS a couple of months ago and returned it the next day. The Aluratek may look and feel cheaper than the Sony, but it is what's inside and how it works that counts. The Aluratek is far superior and waaaaaay cheaper.
