For crying out loud.... these Jewish workers probably do not WANT to work on the Sabbath, but they probably don't have any choice if they want to support themselves and their families. While Muslims will congregate for the sermon and later prayer around noon, activities on Fridays remain the same as any other day. As a matter of fact, in many Muslim countries, economic and social activities increase on Fridays especially those whose official weekend include Fridays.

Jews is more a race than a religious community. That is why a Jew can stopped practising Judaism but still be considered Jewish. In Israel, secular Jews are plenty but are still recognised as Jews. Asian Jews are not considered Asian technically but descended from the Israeli tribes. That is why Hitler did not distinguish between the Orthodox and the secular - indeed many Jews who had converted to Christianity were not spared.

The more I think about this the madder I get. These Haredim are acting exactly the opposite of what our gedolim (like HaRav Moshe Feinstein) have taught. This was a nisayon arranged by shamayim and they failed miserably. Why not invite these poor yidden over for some cake, kugel and schnapps? Actaully lucaslabrador they were not yelling at Arabs, they were yelling at other Jews for not keeping the Shabbath the important day of rest that ever Jew must keep. Arabs and other non-Jews do not have to keep the Sabbath in fact it goes againts Judaism for a non-Jew to keep Shabbat 100% it's a commandment for Jew to keep.

By the way, I'm fairly sure the workers are Jews, as there is no way that Orthodox Jews would tell Arab workers to stop working on the Sabbath. It doesn't make sense at all, and they would definitely get assaulted for doing so.

I served 3 full years in the army because it is obligatory and got only about 100$ for month there, now I also have to work in jobs that I don't like in order to finance my expensive studying in the university and they live without any worries! What I don't understand is why these Haredi Jews aren't at home keeping Shabbas with their families, or at shul. That, it seems to me, would be a much better way to keep Shabbas sacred than harassing these Arabs who are just earning a living. Do the Haredi close dowwn their businesses on Fridays in the daytime to honor the Islamic sabbath? I rather doubt it.

Good point, trondergirl. But just to correct you, Fridays for Muslims are exactly like the Jewish Sabbath. In fact, it's very different. While Muslims will congregate for the sermon and later prayer around noon, activities on Fridays remain the same as any other day. As a matter of fact, in many Muslim countries, economic and social activities increase on Fridays especially those whose official weekend include Fridays.

"Israel" changed hands about 5-6 times until mid 19th century, when the Jews were already a majority in population, but were controlled by the Ottomans. As you know, Israel came to be less than 100 years later. There were ALWAYS Jews in Israel, they were just oppressed by whoever ruled. Stop commenting about what you know nothing about.

Jews did not form any substantial part of Palestine's population until after the British mandate. From the eight century onwards, Palestine solidly belonged to the Arabs and they had always formed the majority population for the most part until 1948. Of course there were always Jews in Palestine - but they were always the minority and never had an independent state from the eight century onwards.

Just because a people arent the majority in a country doesnt make it any less theirs. Jews were forced to leave israel by alien people - we never gave up ownership of it.

Jewish people became a majority once they expelled palestinians in 1948. According to anglo-american commision , as late as 1946, the population of palestine was 1.3 million arabs and 600 000 jews - and these jews came in a huge wave of recent post 2nd WW immigration. LUVDM, there was nothing illegitimate about how the Jewish people established Israel. They then got attacked, resulting in the war of independence. Strangely enough, Palestinian Arabs weren't exactly paraded on the streets after then. Anyway, you're wrong. The Jewish population of Palestine/Israel was greater than any other ethnic group as early as late in the 19th century.

How can the Jews claimed to own Palestine ? The fact that there were no Jewish majority prior to 1948 showed that they did not own the land. The land was owned by however were already living there which in this case were the Arabs. You don't steal other people's land just because you say God promised it to you.

Jews is more a race than a religious community. That is why a Jew can stopped practising Judaism but still be considered Jewish. In Israel, secular Jews are plenty but are still recognised as Jews. Asian Jews are not considered Asian technically but descended from the Israeli tribes. That is why Hitler did not distinguish between the Orthodox and the secular - indeed many Jews who had converted to Christianity were not spared.
